I want a refund on my overpriced real estate...

... because I am about done with this freezing temperatures business. Also, if the weather is taking requests, some rain would be nice, because droughts are no fun.

ETA: Note to the weather: I officially did not mean that I wanted it to start dumping rain this very moment while still being close to freezing out.

I am really upset about the Weir decision because I like Weir and instead of trying to work with the conflicts that are there for their character, they're going to push her out of the picture. It's really frustrating.

On the other hand, I'm really happy that Claudia Black and Ben Browder are getting more work in the SG-1 movies, so there's that.

And Farscape is awesome for many of the reasons you mentioned, but also because it fundamentally deals with the emotions and journey that so many of us go through: growing up. It's a growth story at it's heart. Leaving home, realizing your parents are fallible but coming to terms with it and loving them anyway, life, death, babies, and taxes (i.e. wormholes). It's something we can relate to because it's real in its heart, no matter what the outside trappings are. Everything doesn't end up perfect all the time, but you keep pushing on anyway and making the most of the good moments.

Not that I have a strong opinion about this or anything!

I'm also left feeling vaguely uncomfortable about the way a show that handles female characters so poorly is easing one out to make room for another, making it a zero sum proposition, instead of adding to the already incredibly male-dominated cast. (Although I also think there might be something to the theory that they should just give up even trying with the female characters, since it's so not their strength.) If I had to vote someone off the island, it would be Ronon, who doesn't do much besides stand around and look menacing (although he does so in an admittedly smoking hot manner).

Oh yes. And the good moments are so much more precious for being exceptions--and the characters get that as much as we do.

how is Farscape so good?...

Because it deals with adults in love - who screw up, who make mistakes, who get scared, but who love true and through all adversity into acceptance. I love John and Aeryn so much!

Oh yes. I love the way they balance each other out--and that as their struggles with themselves and each other change, that balance doesn't.

How is Farscape so good?

Because it was made by people who loved it madly, and who never thought we were stupid for loving it.

Farscape is so good because it's a heroic journey for all of them. Because it's about family, and friends, and consequences, and sheer random chance, and trying anyway. Because there's always solace somewhere. Because even the pain is beautiful. Because it was the greatest confluence of acting, writing, directing, and artistic and musical talent I have yet to see.

I wanted to use the muppets in the poll, but I couldn't find one short line that could describe them. I love many things about this show, but one of the most basic ones was that they took the muppets and ran with them, made them characters with stakes and feelings and motivations and relationships, and it was impossible not to take them seriously.
