Day 51: Women's Showers [Second Shift]

Aug 10, 2010 17:33

It said something that the showers no longer affected the Digimon to the point of panic. It spoke of the weeks she had been here, that she was gradually become neutral to the process. She was warned to be careful of the bandage over her eye--this said almost suspiciously; she would not react the same as she had a week prior. She made a motion as if ( Read more... )

Oh god, showering. Bella loved showering - especially because she felt all gross and sticky from the blood that had been all over her nights before. However, she knew that she was clean, so she decided that it was all in her mind ( ... )

Once again, it was time for the twice-a-week torture. Raine had no issue with getting clean, but she was still very much not used to being watched while she did it--or being naked around large groups. And while she was getting over it, right now she was still somewhat uncomfortable with letting water cascade over her. At least she had the option of being quick about it.

[[Or so she thinks. Reserved for Sheena!]]

Showers. Sheena resisted going in, not purposely, but the idea of being in that particular place where she was... vulnerable....

No. No. You are not broken. She did not break you and... you're safe there. She won't-- STOP THINKING THAT, MIZUHO! Yukari really isn't like that. Is she?

She finally went inside, undressed and undid the gauze wrapped around her neck. Sheena winced as her fingers moved over the wounds, feeling stitches in several places. Between that and the tape holding the cut bits of her bottom lip together, she knew she looked like hell. And she...

Took up a spot next to Raine. There was safety there. Comfort in the familiarity. And she'd act as the right kind of buffer to keep the youkai away.

Raine turned to greet her--and completely forgot what she was going to say at the sight of her. "Sheena?? What happened?" It was clear the ninja had been in a nasty battle--she must have won, since she was still alive, but she could see what a close call it must have been. Especially when she took in the bandage covering the side of Sheena's neck. She was standing under her own power, but she had a lot of injuries and Raine couldn't even guess what exactly had caused them.

She could guess that Sheena was going to need at least a little help showering today, and she had no problem with giving it; she did, however, want to know what Sheena had been up to that caused all this.

"A nightmare," was all Sheena said in response, her voice quiet.

She stepped under the spray, hissing as the water ran over her wounds. Aside from her lips and her neck, the rest of her body looked fine. She closed her eyes, trying to ignore the stinging pain, but then suddenly they popped open. No, she couldn't close her eyes. When she did, she still felt it; that endless falling. Over and over and over and over and over and over...

The ninja cast a furtive glance over at the entrance to the showers. She needed to know when Yukari got there.

Luckily, the nurse said nothing was broken. Luckily, it was just a little scratch, barely any blood at all. Luckily, she even had showers next shift so she could wash the food off her face and clean up.

Somehow, the youkai didn't feel so lucky.

Still sleepy, vaguely hungry and now rather irritated, Yukari stumbled in to the showers. As her nurse helped her undress, she darkly recalled last night, replaying the noise of the train charging ahead, the heavy thud of impact as it hit the woman, the screech of steel as it turned over, taking her arm off in the process. Visualizing that in her mind made her feel a little better and, wonderfully, not in the slightest bit guilty. Clearly it was now on the level of preemptive retribution for that woman's rudeness this morning.

There was, on the other hand, something that did make her feel guilty and when it was standing right across the room from her as she entered the showers, there was a moment of hesitance in the youkai. There was Sheena, her ninja, her summoner. And there were the ( ... )

Showers, at least, hadn't changed much in a thousand years, not that she would have guessed that from Fry's aversion to them, and to hygiene in general. Leela still wasn't sure this hospital wasn't a simulation, but she was glad it wasn't simulating itself in the time of outhouses and lice. She was in a thoroughly decent mood, having found someone else who didn't automatically write her off as a nut case for being from the future, and she hummed a little as she washed her hair. She wanted to have a discreet look at her fellow patients, to see if anyone bore the signs she was missing, herself, of recent surgery, but there weren't too many people around, and she didn't want to be rude. A lot of them did seem to have been hurt recently.

She finished up pretty quickly--what she really would have liked was a nice, long bath and a copy of True Stories of Courageous Animals--and headed out for the Sun Room.

In another circumstance, Sophie would have been more than grateful for a fresh shower after a good breakfast. It went without saying that this was no normal circumstance however. She cast awkward and nervous glances around her; group showers were something that certainly did not happen back in Ingary, and they certainly weren't something that she wished to have to endure.

Still, clean water was clean water, and the opportunity to bathe was hardly something she could come to pass up. In any case it ended up being one of the shortest bathing exercises she had ever performed, preferring to get clean and get out more than anything.
