Day 48: Sun Room (Fourth Shift)

His mane was still damp from the ridiculous human cleaning ritual, something that Scar found rather dissatisfying. At the very least he had been able to leave the showers quickly, so the change in tactic had at least worked for now. There was a major downside, however; he had to put up with a certain female's well-meant praise as he ( Read more... )

It looked like his plan might have backfired in the end. He may have showered just a little too fast, since the Sun Room was still on the empty side as Zack wandered out into it. He gave a small shake of his head and sighed to himself. It wasn't like it was the end of the world, though. He'd just find a comfy place to sit and look friendly, and he was sure he could pin someone down to talk to soon enough ( ... )

[From here]Well, that shower hadn't been as relaxing as she had hoped, not that it was written on her face. Her pale skin was pinched into a neutral smile as she wandered into the Sun Room, nodding to one curious nurse beside her. But it hadn't rejuvenated her like she had hoped, especially after the craziness that had been last night. She had been looking to clear her thought, instead the time to herself had only added to her questions. Plus, her hair was still rather damp and this "bra" wasn't doing shit. Her girls were about to make a break for it! Next time she saw her nurse, she needed to ask about some special needs ( ... )

As his eyes had scanned idly around the room, Zack hadn't really expected to see a certain person crossing his line of vision on her way to the bulletin board. There were certain people whose presence here seemed likely. Then again, he realized that Aerith, Cloud, and Yuffie didn't make that list, so he should have stopped expecting things to go the way he banked on.

It seemed like Tifa had missed him, but she probably hadn't been searching for him either. Did she know that Cloud was here? Well, she was about to find out, if she hadn't already found him for herself.

Just as Zack moved up behind her, the girl (who was also a good deal older than the last time he'd seen her, and also -- well, more filled out) started futzing with ( ... )

The day had gone by quicker than Donna realized and before she knew it she was checking what notices had been put up on the Sun Room Bulletin by the end of the day. Nothing written was very interesting to her, which also meant there was nothing addressed to her, which could be good or bad. She knew the spaceman had to be sulking since she'd taken his glasses, so maybe it was best to let him know that he had a chance, however small, of getting them back.

After leaving a simple note on the board, Donna smirked and fell into the first chair she reached, sighing loudly. There were at least some things that could make her feel better. Annoying the spaceman was certainly one of them. Like there was anything better to do.

[from here; let me know if you actually had plans with someone ^^;]

As soon as he walked into the Sun Room, Sanae let out the breath he'd been holding. It wasn't easy, facing one's mistakes, and he'd been okay with them all at first because things had worked out back in Shibuya. Here, though, things were going completely wrong, and for once, he lacked the control to bring them back into proper order. It would be something to adjust to - he knew he could do it - but first he would give himself some time to act the headless chicken.

And ah, there was someone he hadn't spoken to in a while! Sanae sat down next to Donna, wondering if she remembered him from their brief chats several days ago. He tended to leave strong impressions on people, but one could never be sure - least of all here. "Hello, Donna-san. How's life?" He flashed her a casual smile, noting the smirk on her face. Looked like the answer to his question was at least "decently well".

[Wow, shows where my mind is. Let's pretend Donna had her showers and that I'm not such a complete and total failure!]

The face was one Donna remembered, and she had no problems with letting the man have a seat with her. A conversation would be wonderful just about then. Her day had been mostly quiet up until that point anyway.

"Pretty decent actually!" Donna determined since there hadn't been any real mishaps just yet. And because blackmailing the Doctor was it's own kind of fun. "Barring showers, but you can't have everything go your way," she added, twirling a strand of still damp hair in her fingers. Communal showers, honestly! At least the weren't co-ed. "You?"

Oh, this was better than he'd expected. Sanae was in desperate need of someone energetic to feed off of, someone who wasn't mopey - or deranged, for that matter.

He shrugged and said, "Okay, I think. Hit a rough patch really recently, but like ya said, can't always have the stars alignin' how ya want 'em." Couldn't always have the power to realign them yourself, either.

The shower was quick as usual but admittedly refreshing. The headache and dizziness were gone for the most part, and he felt like he could actually think clearly now. Maybe he'd simply been suffering under the weight of accumulated stress. At least, he certainly hoped that was all it had been. Anything else was an unknown factor, something unpredictable and thus unpreventable. That was the last thought he wanted to entertain. It was far better to focus on what he could control.

Klavier pulled away from his nurse when they entered the Sun Room, pretending to be too focused on squeezing and pushing aside damp hair to hear her useless words about resting up. There was no time to humor her. Instead he headed right for the bulletin board for a little damage control. He hadn't seen Kristoph in the showers... probably a good thing, since that wasn't exactly the ideal place to confront an irritable brother. But his absence was troubling. He hadn't seen or heard from Kristoph for several days already, and it was starting to feel ( ... )

Ema had skipped lunch. The nurses had been successful in coaxing her out of the corner she had been sulking in since retreating from Lana, but the coaxing had only gotten the girl as far as the nearest couch. It was there where Ema had parked herself and refused to proceed further, insisting that she wasn't hungry and wanted to be left alone. After a prolonged dispute, the nurses relented and left Ema to herself, although one of them had mentioned making a record of her behavior in her patient records ( ... )

If there was one good thing about being here for over a week, it was having learned the hard way not to one's guard completely down. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't have given the movement a second thought. Here, however, he caught the approaching motion in time to jerk away just slightly. Astounding how precaution could become second nature so quickly. The girl caught herself, too, and both kept themselves from colliding into one another, thankfully.

Out of pure instinct, Klavier flashed a bright smile down at her. No harm done, after all. And best to reassure any fear of antagonism in a place like this. In fact, he'd opened his mouth to wave off the apology. But he didn't. Instead, he blinked down at her with... a far more openly surprised expression than he may have normally allowed. Her face. And her voice. She looked just like...

The stranger smiled down at her, which was a reassuring sign, but the expression quickly faded. The way he was staring at her made her a little uncomfortable, like there was something going on that she had been deliberately left out of. He was surprised, and maybe she was imagining it but he seemed to recognize her? It had never occurred to her that the scientifically impossible (yet empirically proven) time paradox of this place would mean that she might meet people from her future.

Maybe she was just imagining the recognition part. Maybe she just looks like someone he knows, like a kid sister or something. That made much more sense.

"Do I know you?" Ema couldn't keep the slightly-defensive tone out of her voice. She had had too crappy a day to even try.

Momo took very little time in the shower, finding little need to dally. Once done, she made her way to the Sun Room and found an empty couch to sit on. Setting her sketchpad down on the arm, she finger combed her damp hair, the black locks freed from the bun she normally left it in.

The shift change gave Erika a chance to think, ignoring the Courtyard at the moment in favor of sitting in the Sun Room, sitting in a chair and looking at the bulletin board thoughtfully. Now that Erika thought about it, the chance that this gameboard was not of Battler's design was a possibility she was willing to accept: On one hand, it was chaotic, poorly organized, and a pitiful attempt at making an engaging, solvable mystery. On the other hand, this sort of precise design and the complete disregard for Beatrice's own setup was very much unlike him, considering how smitten he was for his beloved Beatrice ( ... )

Glancing up, Momo gave Erika an inviting smile. The 'detective' was still very entertaining to the shinigami and she was curious what the girl had learned. It was like cracking open a living mystery novel and reading how the detective went about discovering evidence. Momo did miss reading. The selections in the library were not that great.

"You are welcome to join me, Furudo-san." she said, moving her sketchbook out of the way to a place where it wouldn't bother Erika or get wet from the shinigami combing her hair.

"How was your night? I hope this morning wasn't too jolting for you. It tends to be for about the first week."

Momo didn't miss a beat, did she? She was so helpful it was almost suspicious, as someone dropping clues in the detective's lap without any care in the world was always written off as suspicious. In a third-rate mystery, she supposed Momo would be the mastermind. In a first-rate mystery, she would be the mastermind behind a scheme that included not just the mystery, but the truth of the story. Which was one was she, Erika wondered ( ... )

The pain-numbing poison had kicked in and Falis was wandering in a mental haze again. It was a good thing she didn't have anything to do but rest up. Oh, no, she did have something to do.

Somehow, with horrible spelling, the hunter managed to leave a note for Namine on the board. Once that was done, she sat down and closed her eyes, leaning her head back against the cushion.

Her hair was still damp, so the nurses wouldn't let her outside, but thankfully, she found who she was looking for sitting on one of the couches and sleeping. Kagura stood in front of the other girl, arms crossed and rather obviously upset over something. Though whether she was on the verge of tears or an angry outburst, it was difficult to tell.

"Alita-san," she addressed the girl, hoping she'd wake up at the very least. It was a bit difficult to be upset at someone who wasn't even awake to notice. "There's something we need to talk about."

It was odd to hear Kagura call her -san instead of -hime. In fact, it was so odd, that Falis didn't put the words and the voice together for identification.

Cracking one eye open, Falis took in the freshly showered girl before her. Was she upset? The mind haze was making it hard for the hunter to connect the dots. Besides, that was a boring child's game, anyways.

"Hm?"

Was she even listening? The way she all but ignored Kagura's request didn't make it any easier to handle her anger. Her fists balled up at her sides as she searched for the right words. It was hard though, when she was on the verge of tears herself.

"You bullied my cousin. You... you practically interrogated him. I thought I could trust you!"
