As his eyes had scanned idly around the room, Zack hadn't really expected to see a certain person crossing his line of vision on her way to the bulletin board. There were certain people whose presence here seemed likely. Then again, he realized that Aerith, Cloud, and Yuffie didn't make that list, so he should have stopped expecting things to go the way he banked on.

It seemed like Tifa had missed him, but she probably hadn't been searching for him either. Did she know that Cloud was here? Well, she was about to find out, if she hadn't already found him for herself.

Just as Zack moved up behind her, the girl (who was also a good deal older than the last time he'd seen her, and also -- well, more filled out) started futzing with...

Ahh, he probably wasn't supposed to have seen or heard that. When Tifa looked around behind her self-consciously, Zack couldn't stop himself from breaking out into a grin and waving. Best to play it cool, right? He didn't want to embarrass her. "Long time no see!" And... hopefully he wouldn't give the poor girl a heart attack by showing up out of nowhere.
