Night 47: Activities Shed

Feb 17, 2010 17:01

[from here]Following Asuka into the dark shed, Junpei relied upon the girl to present the light and he took a better grip on the bat. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any creepy crawlies, but he was prepared as much as he could for some. The last time he'd been in the shed there wasn't anything, but the damn place was prime nesting grounds for things ( Read more... )

The first thing Asuka did was shine the light over every inch of the roomy shed, leaving no dark corner unsuspected (It was what any well-trained leader would do). Despite the fear of rabies-infested hounds and giant birds, rats and spiders were just as scary. And the second child was not going to put up with that kind of shit, no sir. Her final conclusion was: it was dirty... but she couldn't see any evidence of infestation besides spiderwebs and dust hanging in the corners ( ... )

Having been in the shed before, Junpei wandered over to the shelf that stored the faded jerseys. He found a couple red ones similar to the blue one he was currently wearing that looked like they'd fit Asuka and sniffed them. Finding the one that smelled the least like an old shack, the teen grabbed the white sports tape and turned the jersey over to the back.

"So, what number do you want on your jersey?" His own sported the number 10 and his last name on the back. He glanced up. "Unless you really like that smiley face..."

".... My jersey?" Asuka was afraid to turn around and find out what her friend--kinda friend--was going on about.

Oh my God...

This kid was crazy. She was tempted to just beat him silly with his bat and mug his sorry ass. He had already shown her where the bats are, what more use could he serve? Well, he did know more about the history club than she did, and the redhead was sure she would need help finding this leader-who-shall-not-be-named. So the eva pilot put on her best smile and tore her blue eyes away from the no doubt dusty and dirty jerseys he held in his hands and looked up at him. At least he had been smart enough to pick a red one.

"Two, of course..."

Junpei created 02 out of the tape on the back of the jersey and then added S-Langley above the number. That done, he held it up before him, making sure he had the lines straight before handing it over.

"Here," he said and then shrugged. "You don't have to wear it, but at least it is better than the stupid smiley face shirts."

[From here, assuming they arrive sometime after Asuka and Junpei leave. That little shed would be a bit crowded with four people in it. D:]

On his guard, Edgar stepped into the shed, shining his light into the corners and around the walls. He found nothing overtly dangerous in the crevices of the building- perhaps he was being overly cautious. "It seems clear in here," he said to Yuna as he lowered his light, starting to scan the various pieces of equipment littering the shed.

Cudgels, nets, safety equipment- all of this looked like it could be of some use. The hardest part would be choosing his items carefully: overloading himself would leave him open to attacks, while taking only a little would undoubtedly result in multiple trips spread across several evenings in order to collect all he wanted.

He gestured toward their bounty. "Ladies first."

Not much about being a survivor gave much solace. Yuna didn't reply ( ... )

While his companion took to the clubs, Edgar decided he'd take the folded net on the floor- it wasn't until he tried to pick it up that he realized it was attached to two poles of thin, light metal. After a moment of fiddling with the ropes that held the two parts together, he managed to loosen the netting enough to detach it from the poles. After a quick refolding, he slipped one arm into a gap in the netting, then pulled it across the center of his back and over his left arm. He was sure he looked ridiculous, but he had to take practicality into consideration at this point: this way, he kept his hands free and it doubled as a makeshift bag of sorts ( ... )

Oh, was that thing a bag? Yuna, reaching out to turn the light to Edgar's direction from the table she'd put it down on, watched as he stuffed things into the bag. Why would a bag have holes, though? After thinking on it a bit, Yuna decided it didn't really matter. As long as nothing fell through it!

"Ah, yes, I'm ready," Yuna replied, going over to pick up the other pole. It was a little light, no heft. And...it was cold under her palm, inactive to even the latent magic that she still possessed, unrestrained by her Grid. Yuna put it down, and went back to grab her light.

Bat in one hand, light in the other. If worse came to worst, she could drop the light, but then she'd be fighting blind. And she did need both hands to use the bat effectively, she'd found. Hm...

Thinking, Yuna went to the door and shone it around. "Still clear," she said, glancing back once before exiting.

[From here. Also assuming that this is after Junpei and Asuka have left.]As Sora entered the shed, he felt that he'd made the right decision by agreeing to let Kairi wait outside. This place was dark, kind of dusty, and cramped. While Kairi was the smallest of the three of them, it would have been an even tighter fit if she'd come in too ( ... )

"We shouldn't have left her out there." It was the first thing that came to mind, but he wasn't able to argue, and didn't bother. Really, it wouldn't be fair to Kairi to think she needed someone to watch over her, but he would have preferred that he was the one to stand outside, while Sora and Kairi poked around inside. In here, everything seemed harmless. Some balls, some bats, but not much else ( ... )

Sora didn't like the idea of Kairi being out there on her own any more than Riku did, but it wasn't like she was unarmed or anything. She had been the first person to volunteer, and Sora was doing his best to treat the girl as an equal. He knew that was what she wanted, and hopefully Riku could come to understand that, too ( ... )

A favor, of course-Sora was the type who would bother to do favors for other people, and it was why he was the keyblade master. Riku could admire that all he wanted, but when it came down to it, it was only another contradiction in their dispositions. They weren't that much alike, after all, and that was important. But maybe he had to follow Sora's lead now. It wouldn't be easy and he would try to do things his own way, but that wouldn't change his general reaction to things.

"Yeah, I'll take it," he told Sora, moving over to grab the bat from his hands. "What're we gonna do with them now that we have them?" The obvious question needed to be posed. If the beginning of their next nightshift really did turn into dropping off weapons for some club, he would leave Sora to do it. There were more important things.

[ from here ]The shed was silent and empty when Battler entered it, which was probably for the best; he didn't want to keep Beato waiting for too long, or she might try to do something stupid. He found what he was looking for relatively quickly: a small cluster of bats, both wooden and metal. It was a good thing they'd visited here today, or he probably wouldn't know that they were here. Considering the location, he was unlikely to find anything else that could be used as a weapon. Actually, to be perfectly honest, it was a little surprising that these were real and not the padded ones you used when you were little. It worked in his favor, however, so he wasn't about to complain ( ... )
