Yet another intercom jingle sounded, and the nurses, anticipating the Head Doctor's orders, already began grouping around the patients as he began to speak

A new room. Kairi entered the room with a heavy heart, knowing what was coming up. Nightshift was going to be ... well, she's just have to see. She only hoped that the chance in scenery didn't bother her too greatly; she still had no idea how the darkness would effect her, or if her long sleep had done something to the potency.
She'd just have to find out.
... And tell Riku. The longer she withheld the information, the worse it would get.
Still, despite feeling a bit sad, Kairi was curious to see who her new roommate was. She moved quickly to the bed that looked unused and sat down on it, looking at her food on her desk before suddenly remembering ...
The sword she had taken the night before she went to sleep! She had taken a few things from Rukia's side of the room that night, but most importantly was that sword.
Kairi quickly began looking under the bed, digging her hand around for anything that remotely felt like a sword. It just had to be there!
Hmm, Kagura, Ritsuka, Meche.... Ah, there were people she'd met yesterday she hadn't gotten to see! Hopefully they were all right. She couldn't go meet them at night; she had no idea where they went.
Night...she'd promised Kagura not to get into trouble, and Meche had warned her about that, too, but she didn't know what she could do! No, that wasn't quite right. Kagura had told her about the bats. Foraging for weapons in a madman's game...somehow, it just seemed very...familiar.
Yuna stepped into the room and blinked to find it already inhabited. "Oh, hello there!" This must be the roommate! ...What was she doing under the bed? "Are you looking for something?" Yuna asked as she approached the bed.
At the sound of the door opening, Kairi turned, her eyes hidden by stray red hairs that had flown to cover her face in her desperation to look for the sword. Standing up straight, she quickly fixed her appearance and smiled her normal bright smile, not wanting to give off a bad first impression.
"Hello! I'm Kairi. And ... oh," Turning towards her bed at the mention of it, She frowned, running her fingers through her hair for a second before sitting down on the bed to chat. "I was looking for something that my old roommate left that I took before she was ... wiped away."
Was this girl new? She had never seen her before, but then again she hadn't exactly been ... conscious recently. "What's your name?"
Yuna tilted her head at the bed. "Why was it under...?" No wait, more important question! "Old roommate? ...Wiped away?" And she'd thought, from Kairi's cute smile, that she'd heard all her sadnesses of the day.
Apprehensive, Yuna walked to the bed Kairi hadn't been looking under, and sat down. "...Can you...tell me more?" she said cautiously. Learning from Meche that patients attacked other patients had been a shock. That this place continued to have more shocks like that one was distressing, especially since it was pretty clear what Kairi meant. But this...it might not be what Yuna was thinking, right? This place was so different from what she was used to.
After spending a pleasant enough time in the greenhouse, Okita had asked to be taken to the bathrooms to wash his hands thoroughly before heading back to the rooms. His nurse, pleased that he'd kept his jacket on this time, acquiesced and soon enough Okita was heading toward his room with the promise of a meal he may or may not eat. He did like the Caesar salad thing and the garlic bread, but he wasn't a big fan of the spaghetti. He was slowly learning to stomach more of the food they served here, but often it just didn't suit his tastes.
Today's fish, however, had been good. He was glad he'd eaten as much of that as he could stomach, despite the news he'd received over the meal. Tonight, however, he had a lot of work to do, work that he had to keep his focus on. Tomorrow he'd deal with everything as much as possible, talk to Kudou, Kaito and Heiji again, and hope that he could find some sort of compromise. Or at least a way to save them all the heartache of being pulled apart
( ... )
All fired up with excitement after his talk in the greenhouse, Guy had found it hard to part from Edgar when they had been in the middle of such an interesting conversation. He could only hope that the man hadn't minded his incessant questions, but from what he'd been able to tell, Edgar had been just as into it as he was. It was always nice finding a kindred spirit, seeing how most of the ones he'd come across in Auldrant had been... unsavory, to say the least
( ... )
The door opened and Okita glanced up from his meal, swallowing his mouthful of salad and patting his lips with his napkin before waving back to Guy. It was a relief now, to see him walk in the door. After spending that one evening waiting for him to show and knowing that he wouldn't, Okita cheered anytime he heard the doorknob click. It seemed like he was doing well, at least physically. Better than yesterday at any rate.
"It was..." He paused for a moment, mulling over the right word. He settled on a nice, safe one and continued with, "Interesting."
He didn't really want to weigh down conversation with all the things he was dealing with at the moment. So much of what was going on wouldn't make sense unless he took too long to explain, and the one thing weighing most heavily on his mind recently wasn't something he could talk about. Besides he was more about listening to other people than talking himself anyway, so as soon as he could, he turned the conversation back to Guy. "How about you, Guy-san? Anything fun happen
Interesting. That was a pretty vague response, which probably meant that something was going on and Okita just didn't want to talk about it. Which was understandable, but it did make Guy worry. He knew better than to push it, and instead held out hope that one day his roommate would feel comfortable enough to discuss whatever was bothering him.
Luckily, he could give a decent answer to the question. Guy started to twist the spaghetti around the fork and then took a neat bite before responding. "Fun? Well, I met a few new people, saw someone I hadn't seen in a while, and caught up with a friend from home. The most exciting part was finding someone who's as interested in machinery as I am, though."
His tone was a bit calmer now that he wasn't with Edgar and in the middle of a discussion, but he was still glad that he'd randomly run into someone who was as passionate about fontech (or... any kind of tech, really) as he was. He'd have to try and keep up with Edgar, if he could.
So the clinic was still alive. And Kratos was going to be coming by later on tonight to pick up the stuff Ritsuka still had sitting in his closet. It was the last thing he'd taken care of when Tamaki had been mysteriously absent, prior to his sudden release. A payment from Guy to Kratos for his help. He'd never been able to get it to him, not really knowing who the guy was, and soon after that, the clinic had all but dissolved but for Raine's quiet efforts. Now, it seemed, the club was making a return. Although the location was completely unknown, which rather killed the usefulness of it all. Unless patients knew where to go, the clinic was merely flailing in the dark

Nataku returned from the greenhouse strangely cheerful, his clothing still streaked in places with fresh soil. The nurse had dragged him off to wash his hands before dinner but he had gotten away with promising to change his shirt as soon as he got in.
Dinner didn't even sound so bad, and after skipping most of that pizza stuff today, he was starving.
His roommate was already there when he arrived and Nataku grinned, shifting his tray so he could wave a before he crossed over to his bed. The tray was transfered to his lap once he settled cross-legged and comfortable. "Hey, you look depressed." Nataku swallowed a forkful of noodles. "What's wrong?"

Ritsuka heard the door open and he looked up, waving back to Nataku before returning to his meal. The spaghetti wasn't so bad, really. It was just the heaviness of it all that was getting to him. Or maybe it was all the thoughts running in his head. He hadn't seen Soubi since the guy left for his therapy and after what happened to Ritsuka in his, the boy was more than worried about his friend. If Soubi had Makiko, or someone worse (was that possible? More than likely), then he could have been in serious danger. Ritsuka had slept through all of dinner yesterday thanks to her, what if Soubi had been put out for the entire day?
He glanced across the room at Nataku when the other boy asked how he was doing, and decided not to say anything. Spoiling Nataku's appetite wasn't something Ritsuka wanted to do. Instead, he tried to smile and shook his head. "Just thinking about something. How've you been?"
"Ok I guess. I've been sleeping a lot lately." He didn't sound particularly worried about it anymore. Tonight things would be different. He was sure of it.
...Well, he was optimistic about it. For sure. That was close enough.
He had a few more bites in silence before setting his fork down before levelling Ritsuka with a Look. "It's ok if you're not having a good day and you don't want me to bug you, but don't expect me not to notice you're faking."
Gone. Gone! Her little brother, that infuriating Miles Edgeworth who'd given her a case here and had kept that few steps ahead of her in this Institute, was gone. She couldn't believe it, but after grilling her own nurse and several others over the course of the last shift, she'd confirmed it. He had been released that morning and she hadn't even known. She hadn't noticedThe second she was back in her room, Franziska slammed a fist against the wall, gritting her teeth. How could he leave? How could he abandon them all and go off to live that despicable lie? That bastard. That incorrigible

The jingle from the intercom was enough to awaken the Scarecrow, who had asked to return to his room shortly after lunch- the nurse was kind enough to oblige, given the condition of his head. He thought he'd take Remy's advice and try his hand at a nap, though it occurred to him once he'd arrived in the room that he wasn't entirely sure how he was supposed to go about getting to sleep. After a few minutes debating whether or not he should ask his nurse how she did it, he decided to try lying on the bed quietly and closing his eyes. It seemed to work for everyone else, so why not him?
Keeping his eyes shut, while it kept out the light, did next to nothing for his head. Curse that Wizard Landel and his experiments! How someone could be so cruel as to actually want to inflict pain on perfect strangers was beyond the strawman. Even worse was that there was seemingly nothing to be done against him- the Scarecrow had been here over a week, and he was no closer to getting his body back and getting home than when he first arrived.

So Ratchet the Medic wasn't exactly the pinnacle of Autobot diplomacy and grace the history databooks liked to make out those guys were. Big deal. The real problem was that he seemed to have convinced himself that Depth Charge had a couple of wires loose in the old logic circuits- the whole 'I am from your future' thing probably hadn't helped, that was true, but like Pit he was about to lie for the sake of one measly ally's trust. That was just a little too close to politicking for his liking
( ... )
Only a few minutes after the intercom sounded, and in came Depth Charge- just the man the Scarecrow wanted to see at that moment. He'd been able to thank Sangamon Taylor at lunch, but hadn't spotted his roommate throughout the day. He gave his roommate a smile as he entered, gladder to see him than he had been in days
( ... )
The smile was a nice touch, too, but Depth Charge got the feeling that the Scarecrow was the kind of guy who'd smile at a sharkticon if he thought it might help the situation any. Still, it was the thought that counted, and in this case in counted in spades. He nodded slowly, taking in the assessment as though he had some kind of medical degree in human biology, acting like he had any idea just what was going on in the man's head.
"Don't sweat it. I just did my job." Hah. He hadn't said that in a while. Hadn't had any reason to, he supposed, unable to fight the grim little smile that crossed his face at the thought. Funny. He'd been doing so much of the hunting that he'd forgotten how rewarding the protecting could feel. "Anyway, S.T. was the real help."
If S.T. hadn't been there, he knew where he'd have ended up. Charging into that hallway in a fit to burst, trying to break down every door in sight and attracting every monster in the entire building in the process. He owed a lot to the guy
