night 45: F-A block hallway.

( from here. )So far, so good. Once Bella’s hand touched the corner of the wall, she followed it slowly, her feet stumbling over themselves for a few seconds before she finally got her footing. “Stupid ... disorientating darkness,” she muttered to herself, her cheeks flushed from the thought of falling. That certainly wasn’t high up there on her ( Read more... )

Several other girls were already going ahead, and the light from their flashlights gave just enough of a glow to make it possible for Anise to navigate the halls without too much trouble. Why did her flashlight have to be broken at a time like this? It was going to be hard to search the morgue with only Claude's light.

Then again, considering what they were looking for, maybe not seeing it clearly would be for the best...

Ugh. Trying not to think about it too much, Anise pressed onward, turning as she entered the next hallway.

Easing the door open as silently as she could, which wasn't very silently at all, Asuka poked her head out, side to side, and quickly flicked her flashlight from one end of the hallway to another. She found that her door wasn't the only one hanging open.

Creepy.

The closest wall and, subsequently, door was to her right. Flashing her light once more down the hallway, she kept it low and flickering, not wanting to give the staff a bigger target to come after than she needed to. Emergency training 101. Though, she supposed it was highly unlikely medical staff had guns on them, but, well, after the shit she had seen since coming to Japan, Asuka decided anything was plausible. She crept down the hall, doing her best to cushion the sound of her sneakers as she came to a new door.

Asuka looked back every few steps to make sure no one followed her out of the the last door. Thankfully, the hallway was, as far as she could tell, empty with the exception of her and her light bobbing down the hallway.

She flashed the light to her left when the hallway opened up into another corridor, but finding no doors on the opposite wall, the second child continued straight.

Not long after, she came to another door and hoped her luck was better this time as she opened it.

There were a couple others lingering around this hall, a fact Kitty was grateful for. Even if it was only for a few minutes, being alone in this place was really unnerving. Especially when the only light one had was the beam of a flashlight.

She really didn't want to waste the batteries though. So, after checking to make sure the area was clear -- or at least looked clear enough -- she clicked it off and continued on.

The next hall seemed relatively empty, and free of any monsters or apparitions. Good. She wanted it to stay that way for as long as possible, until she found whatever path they were supposed to be taking. At the moment, she had no idea where they were supposed to go. Was it outside the institute, or was it as her false self suspected on these nights - further up in the building?

"My real name is Yomi Takahashi, by the way," she said quietly as they walked, holding her sword at the ready just in case. "If you don't remember, yours is Delilah Jones. Your brother is Antony. Does any of that ring a bell?"

Anthy's steps were quiet as she followed Utena down the hall and through a new door, belying a reaction to her words. She knew better than to trust anything Utena said, but finding out what had been done to her mind was a point of interest -- albeit a painful one.

The halls were dark and empty except for the scattered presence of what must have been other captors. Pawns. She kept her focus on the both familiar and unfamiliar person in front of her and continued to follow her lead -- even if it led Anthy to danger, it would be a befitting revenge, one Utena herself would never carry out.

Yomi. Delilah. Antony, her brother. Whoever brought them here knew something of their histories before. Anthy lowered her head and closed her eyes in contemplation for a moment. "No, Utena."

"My brother is the acting Chairman at Ohtori Academy," she explained, bordering on insistence. "Where he currently remains in his coffin. I left him to find you."

Yomi had been about to explain gently that there was no Ohtori Academy, but was stopped by the last thing that Delilah said. She paused in the hall for a moment, turning back to her friend. "You came back here just for me?" she asked, a pang of guilt hitting her like a cold sword strike ( ... )

Anthy certainly hadn't been expecting for her meeting with Utena to be like this, for the outside world to close in around them on another prison so very quickly, but Anthy's time outside had been so short-lived that the shock of it was receding already. Replaced by a dull fury for Utena's sake.

She glanced up at her friend's gaze and her eyes crinkled with an ache and a plea. Please come back to me, please fight this. It wasn't fair to ask, to want, even, but Utena was strong ...

Anthy took a step closer and her hands closed over Utena's where it was holding onto the hilt of a sword (a flash of memory, prying her trembling fingers off the hilt after-) with a gentle squeeze. Her voice was almost an urgent whisper: "Something has been done to you. Someone has tampered with your memories and your identity. No matter where we are now, our real selves are Utena and Anthy -- I promise you that ( ... )

The next hallway that Ruby found herself in was just as dark and gloomy as the first. The walls--what she could see of them, anyway--looked dingy, dirty, like the building hadn't been in use for years. That lent itself to the "haunted hospital" theory, though that didn't explain how she'd gotten here in the first place. And, honestly, how was knowing it was haunted going to help her anyway? It wasn't as if she could "protect" herself with salt or iron, even if she could find them somehow. She was a demon. Salt and iron worked just as well on her as they did on any other kind of supernatural creature.
