Night 44: Main Hallway, 1-West

There didn't seem to be any of the typical night-time traffic. It was a little weird, but then again, she had practically thrown herself out of the door this time. No wonder she'd managed to beat the rush ( Read more... )

Indy slowed his pace some when he hit the main hallway. There was a lot of empty space here, lots of shadowy corners for people (or giant bugs) to hide in. Worth being cautious over, he thought as he peered into the darkness.

[From here.]Still trying to sort through and codify the facts he knew -- a task made more difficult by his inability to be sure what might even count as a fact -- L arrived in the hall that would take him to the file rooms. He saw someone he recognized, someone who appeared to be looking for something in the shadows ( ... )

It was Ryuuzaki. Indy sized him up again with new purpose, since that sounded like it might be an offer: average height (or taller? His posture wasn't any better standing up than it was sitting down), rail-thin, with a flashlight and a weighted pillowcase (probably the radio). Indy didn't see much that suggested a good fighter. On the other hand, Ryuuzaki had struck him that morning as intelligent--not a bad guy to have around, if you were in the mood to theorize. Indy usually was.

"Ryuuzaki," he acknowledged, inclining his head. First name or last, or was it a pseudonym? Maybe this guy was famous somewhere too. "The file room on the second floor, then the morgue. An acquaintance of mine has disappeared and I'm trying to find out what happened to him."

Well, what the hell--an extra pair of hands to beat back the plague of giant locusts or whatever it was up there would be welcome enough, at least. Indy added, "You can come along if you want, although it won't make for much of a tour."

Tenzen slowed down only slightly as he reached the main hallway, peering into the darkness for any moving shapes. The area was wider than the previous corridors had been, which meant more hiding place for the enemy.

Not noticing anything for now, he headed for the closest stairwell. Tonight, he hoped to locate something more useful on the second floor. More weapons of the sort were more than welcome, after all.

Coming out into the main hallway, Hime spotted only one other. She was ahead of the flow of patients that had been present at the beginning of last night. Settling against the wall between the two doors leading to the patients rooms, Hime waited to see who would be coming by with one ear listening for more hostile approaches.

Now, where was someone that looked like she could use?

[Waiting for Sokka and Kagura(?)]

When Kagura entered the main hallway, she sensed a presence to her left. Since she didn't know if it was a friend or enemy, Kagura took a guarded stance with her clothing rod and aimed her flashlight at the figure. When she recognized the other girl, Kagura became relieved. "Is that you Hime-san?"

A number of figures passed by, but they all seemed to be rather in a hurry or on their own various missions. She needed someone that she could... direct, so to speak.

As it happened, she was just considering this when someone rudely pointed their flashlight in her face. It was understandable, given the dangers a figure just waiting there in the semi-darkness could represent, but that didn't lessen the sour look on the princess's face as she covered her eyes with one arm.

"...yes. Please direct your flashlight elsewear, Kagura," she suggested dryly. She couldn't see the girl, but it was easy to tell by the voice and process of elimination given how few others she'd spoken with so far here.

"Sorry about that," Kagura said, quickly aiming her flashlight at the ground. She hadn't meant to blind Hime, but it was better to be alive than courteous.

"So, what are you doing Hime-san?" It went without saying that the blonde was probably exploring the institute, but what Kagura wanted to know was if Hime had an actual plan, unlike her.

Ah, this hallway actually had some other people in it. Looked like most of them were waiting around for something. Lockdown ignored them and headed straight for the stairs. Let 'em stand around and get attacked, for all he cared.

[Three little maids from here we are]

Someone was still in here, but Dahlia didn't really care about them. But as much as she had hop/skipped her way over here with these bimbos, she suddenly lost steam into this new area.

She turned her head back to look at Sync and pulled her hands away. Her eyes were still teary from that act, weren't they? Ugh. She wiped at her eyes with the back of her hand. "Um... which way are we going?"

When Sync's tone changed, Anise's struggling stopped, as though against her own will. At the same time, she felt even more anger welling up inside her. That bastardBefore Anise could say any of the angry words that sat just at the tip of her tongue, Dahlia burst through the door and soon threw herself on the girl, crying. Oops, that was right. The last time Dahlia saw her, she was ( ... )

The God-General had to refrain from rolling his eyes the moment Dahlia came through the door, wrapping her arms around Anise and causing a scene. Her whole act was kind of nauseating to watch, but the fact that she was actually there in the first place was enough to calm his stomach for now. He allowed the redhead to drag them out into the main hallway, immediately taking the lead once she let go.

"We'll be going straight down until we reach the Sun Room," Sync responded with a smile.

Unlike Anise, he had no idea which one of the patient blocks housed Claude and Guy's rooms, which only fueled him to go even faster in order to keep a good distance between them.
