Brainiac 5 was silent as he followed his nurse back to his room, distantly grateful that he wasn't in the wheelchair anymore and could make his way around on his own two feet again. But that was secondary to what was the focus of his mind now. Dinner would be, as always, spent with Peter...

Peter who he'd watched die last night, after his mind had been changed by those in charge of this place, only to return uninjured the next morning. Peter who made a target of himself to people like Grell out of some misguided attempt to protect him ( ... )

It was difficult not to stare when Peter entered the room, apparently whole and uninjured after all. He'd seen the note this morning, among many others talking about experiencing death only to revive the next day, and caught glimpses of the other boy around in other rooms, but it was entirely different now that they were face to face. Like rediscovering all over again that he'd seen his friend die, and now he was alive again.

His eyes itched and he switched to staring at his notebook quickly, faking interest in his notes in the hopes he could get himself under control again more easily that way.

"I'm fine," he said after a moment. And perhaps if he was lucky, Peter would miss the slight shake in his voice that said otherwise.

He risked a quick look up at the other boy. "...what about you?"

Fighting with Sam was the last thing they needed.

Dean ate almost mechanically.

It was a far cry from this morning: the food was still good, on another level he knew it was, but last night and that fight with Sam just left a bad taste in his mouth and a real nasty feeling in his gut. Dean couldn't do this. He couldn't keep up this lie, which was ironic when his whole life, his job really boiled down to a lot of lies in order to cover his ass, keep the civilians from kicking the bucket and staying a step ahead of the law. You think it'd just be another day at the office, but it was different with Sam. Dean didn't like it. Lying to him for the sake of the job was okay, maybe not totally cool, but if people's lives were on the line, then fine. Could do it ( ... )

Howl didn't offer any objections when he was led back to his room. It had been a long day, and he was looking forward to his meal. He'd finally be able to sit down somewhere slightly less packed to the ceiling with loud, chattering people he didn't know, and yet was forced to live alongside. Howl had mostly fond thoughts of of those he had ran into so far. They were kind people, intelligent people, and it was no reflection upon them that Howl was relieved to just take a moment for himself. They were strangers in his life, when even those he felt closest to were stressful. The idea of listening to Sophie berate him sounded comforting at this point ( ... )

Hmph. At least most of the offerings for dinner were far superior to that greasy swill for lunch. Although, what difference did it make whether it was a "brownie" or a "double-fudge brownie?" von Karma was still going to give it to his roommate, as though he were tossing a worthless food scrap to a dog ( ... )

With the long string of beads in hand, Teresa followed her handler back to her room. She say down at her desk, tearing a few strips of chicken off with her fingers, she stared at the mismatched, patternless beads that she'd put together.

Suzaku had been an interesting human, that was certain. She didn't have an opinion one way or the other on him, but she'd see how he dealt with the things she said. As it was, Teresa had the girl to see to and find out more about this Massacre Princess title Rolo had referred to Euphy as.

It was a different room that the nurses brought the demon to that night, and she was not particularly happy about the change. That room had been her territory and had her things in it and she did not like changing now. What if Roland needed to find her? She wasn't even going to get a chance to explain this to him. With warnings to make nice with her new roommate, Argilla entered the room and regarded the other woman warily for a moment before moving over to the desk to grab the chocolate brownie and move back to her bed.

As soon as the door opened, Teresa felt the wave of energy that heralded the youma's entrance. This was the same one whose presence she'd felt in the showers. For a moment, as the demon eyed her, Teresa almost moved to tear the youma's head from its body. Yet, she quelled the instincts forced upon her from the moment she lost her humanity, if only because there was no immediate recognition in the beast's eyes that it had been discovered.

It didn't even react to the silver eyes focused on it as it moved to sit on the bed.

Perhaps, she would let it live a little bit longer. She could observe the creature, see how this place was affecting it. At the very least, she could use it to find the nest. Youma did always like to group together when the human population was dense enough. Or they thought they wouldn't be noticed.

Turning back to her food, the warrior asked in a perfectly calm voice, "And you are?"

She nibbled at the corner of the brownie, savouring the taste of it on her tongue for a moment before she bothered to pay any attention to her roommate when she spoke. She fixed the woman with an intent gaze, meeting the silver eyes with her own pink ones. "I'm called Argilla," she replied easily, turning her attention back to the brownie. "Who are you?" Heat might need food tonight, she certainly wouldn't turn it down if they found something. Hunting then? Perhaps that would be for the best. They hadn't hunted as a group for so long.

Once back in her room, Sheena stared at her bed for a long moment before she turned to her desk. She debated about where she wanted to eat her dinner, deciding to just sit at her desk. The less time she spent near her bed at the moment, the better. She didn't need her mind wandering to the events of the previous night.

The ninja started on her meal, pulling a copy of the ranch map and her playing cards out. She needed to figure out what path she was going to take after she escaped whatever trap the youkai may or may not be laying for her once she went to go pick up her ribbon.

[obligatory 'sorry i suck for being slow' disclaimer goes here]

The day had ended off on a relatively nice note, as opposed to how it started off, so Yukari hadn't put much thought into where she was going as she absentmindedly made the same old routine back to her room as usual. By now, she didn't even have to think about where she was headed off too, so when the nurse called out her name (well-- a name) and nudged her in another direction, Yukari blinked up in surprise when she learned her room had been moved elsewhere.

This normally wouldn't have posed much of an issue, because Yukari could hardly hold any attachments to the one she was used to being in (considering what had happened in it before, and all), but there were some problems-- namely, what would happen to her stuff, and Junpei was supposed to be dropping by. If she hurried, the latter wasn't something to worry about, but-- her stuff! If the staff ever found any of it, they'd confiscate it for sure and then where would she be?

The walk to her new room felt long, and ( ... )

Sheena was herself a little surprised to hear the door to her room open after she'd already been deposited inside it. Sure, she figured they'd give her a new roommate now that Elena was gone, but the other woman had just disappeared. This seemed a little too soon for the ninja's tastes.

Looking up curiously at the younger girl that was led in, Sheena tilted her head a little at the way she was being stared at. Was there something on her face? Taking a napkin, Sheena hastily wiped her face, just in case. Nope, nothing. Oh well. She might as well be friendly.

"Hi. I didn't think they'd give me a new roommate so soon," the ninja started off with. "I've seen you around, I think. I'm Sheena, by the way."

The wave of relief that washed over her was almost overwhelming-- and painfully obvious, but if Yukari realized as much she wouldn't have cared. Finally, she could have someone around who was going to act like a damn human being for once.

Yukari then looked a little sheepish, as if she felt she were intruding on the other girl, but so far it didn't seem like she minded. "I might have spotted you," she responded, but then shrugged. "Um-- either way, nice to meet you. I'm Yukari."

Introduction finished, Yukari slid over to what had to have been her side of the room and immediately went for the closet.

"Oh, thank god," she breathed upon opening its doors; lo and behold, her belongings were still in there, as if she never had changed rooms at all. How this happened, Yukari wasn't sure, but she sure as hell wasn't going to complain or raise any questions about it.
