As the intercom switched on, the shuffling of papers was the first thing that could be heard rather than the voice of the Head Doctor. It seemed he had been going through a lot of them today, a fact which could perhaps be attributed to the fact that so many new patients had flooded the halls of Landel's on this particular afternoon

He opened his eyes when the intercom came on again, this time announcing dinner. He hadn't realized he had been in the room for so long. At least he head was clear, his body calm.
He waited for his roommate to appear, curious who it was. He knew the man had seen the post but he wasn't embarrassed. It wasn't possible for him to feel embarrassed anymore.

"Good evening," he said softly and carefully, glad for the excuse to focus on dinner rather than stare at his roommate. He wasn't really all that hungry, but he started eating anyway, careful to keep his manners.

He glanced over at the other man. The message he'd left had been strange and so it wasn't difficult to recall most of it. He'd signed it... someone's faithful dog. And the responses to his message, seemed annoyed, short, abrupt. None of his business, but that didn't keep him from wondering. "Ichimaru Gin," he said, permanent smile set across his lips, "you must be Dog-san, unless you'd rather somethin' else. You new too, or ya been here a while?"

But any thoughts of the cute playboy were dropped from her mind when she entered her room to find another girl sleeping in the other bed. She waited for the nurse to leave before creeping over to the girl. Now, Yuffie had seen some weird things in her time, all sixteen years of it, but she'd never actually seen a girl with pink hair...
Curiously, she poked the sleeping head.

However, she was brought out of that comforting sleep when she felt someone poking her on the head. "Five more minutes, Mommy.." she murmured groggily, pulling the blanket up over her head.
That's when she realized that something was different... Whoever it was standing beside the bed, it wasn't Juli. In fact, it wasn't anyone she recognized; her sensors told her that much.
She sat up immediately, amber eyes wide as she looked around the room, and then to the other girl. Several questions came to mind then; including 'who are you' and more importantly 'where am I'? But rather than ask either of those, the first words out of MOMO's mouth were, "You're not my Mommy!"

She was still considering whether to poke her again or not when the girl suddenly sat up and shouted at her. Yuffie wasn't surprised. Totally not. No way. Even if she had jumped.
"Well, duh," Yuffie answered back, crossing her arms over her chest. "Who the heck are you? And what are you doing in here?" Was this supposed to be her roommate or something?...This little girl?

But either way, the other girl didn't seem to be that threatening...
"...MOMO. My name's MOMO," she replied slowly, willing herself to calm down slightly. "I don't really... know why I'm here, though. I wasn't here yesterday." The realian shook her head, then asked, "What is this place? And just who are you?"

Turning his head lightly to the side, he glanced at his new neighbor, and didn't recognize him one little bit. He must be new. I've been here long enough. he thought, squinting his eyes sharply.
Ichigo turned his head back away, jutting out his jawline stubbornly. As long as he doesn't bother me, I don't care. With his arms folded neatly across the lean curve of his chest, it was clear that he would be perfectly resolute with his decision.

It was a little early to be passing judgment so soon, but a laugh and a strange and unexplained line like that didn't help the man's case. Even worse, Ichigo was quick to gain the odd impression that this goofy little blonde wasn't laughing with him, but at him instead. Ichigo quickly shot out of bed, leaping nimbly up to his feet, where he loomed boldly over Demyx with a clentched fist trembling from tension.
"Listen close, blondie!" he suddenly exclaimed, leaning forward with a menacing scowl pasted across his lips. "I might be stuck in this room with you, but I'm not gonna put up with any of your ridiculous craziness. Got that?" Ichigo's entire lithely muscled body suddenly tensed, revealing not only that the young man was deceptively strong, but that he wouldn't take no for an answer.

Putting his hands up in mock surrender and trying not to laugh, “No craziness, I promise.”
“So, I caught your intention, but not your name, you would be?” the last syllable drawn out for emphasis. It would just be easier and less painful as well if Demyx just played along with this farce for now.

Renji put his dinner tray on his desk, along with the water he'd asked for, and started sorting through it. Not too bad, as meals here went. He scraped as much sauce as he could off the fish (finally, some goddamn fish) and ignored the macaroni and cheese. It looked pretty apalling. He was glad he'd stopped for some blander stuff in the cafeteria, though. It seemed to have finally gotten his guts settled down enough to function for the night.
No roommate yet. Maybe he'd gotten lucky. But he doubted it.
As he picked at his food, he started making a mental list of what to do before changeover. Refresh his supply of pens... pull the top sheet off the bed...

Hisoka scowled in annoyance as they reached the door, his nurse chattering inanly about his roommate and how she hoped they'd be 'fast friends'. The boy was sure they would-- the day he looked fifty.
The shinigami's scowl deepened as the woman prodded him insistently then, after seeing that was going nowhere and fast, opened the door to his room and shooed him inside. With the tray thief from brunch there as well.
Amazing how life worked.
"Mr. Brothers, I'd like to introduce you to your roommate, Alex Grey. Now you two play nice!"

Maybe they'd warned her about him. She quickly took her relentless good cheer elsewhere.
The kid looked kind of familiar, but from where... Renji stared at him for a moment, eyes narrowing in thought, until he remembered. Right, the chapel. That one odd spirit thread. And the reiatsu felt about right, though definitely not up to the level of a seated officer. Which was maybe why he didn't recognize this one. He'd been kind of busy, lately.
Best to be direct about it, he figured. "Abarai Renji, Vice-Captain of the Sixth Division. I don't recognize you. Name and division?"
Reply
"Name's Alex Grey, sir," Hisoka replied briskly with a salute. "Forteenth and a half division-- brunch trays."
With that sarcastic remark, the boy quickly made his way to his bed to pull up the sheets. He was going to need the bandages if he or anyone else got wounded during his nighttime excursions.

Bastards. He'd kill them all just for that, every last one of them. In being dropped into this establishment, it was practically self-defense.
Aidou spared a flick of his eyes for the other bed, still unoccupied. Blood. Antiseptics. Just great.
His stomach gave a tentative growl, and it wasn't for solid food.
