L slept curled on his side, in the shape of an S, with his gangly limbs all folded and his long hands draped against his chest. The sleep itself was of unusual depth and length ( ... )

At this point, the door to his room swung open, and a pretty brunette in a nurse's uniform walked in.

"You're awake!" she said, then looked down at his feet. "Why don't you have your slippers on yet? You heard the intercom: you have a choice of the sun room, the chapel, or brunch."

His stare was more oppressive than fascinated. "Please tell me where I am."

She looked at him as if this was a strange query. "You're at Landel's."

"Who is Landel?"

"The doctor. He'll be able to help you. We all will, and maybe you'll be better soon."

She was on the alert as soon as she regained consciousness, listening intently for the sound of movement, her eyes snapping open when she was met with only silence. White walls. Bed. Wardrobe. Desk. A hospital or other institution. Not even the ShinRa orphanage of her childhood had been so blank. She pushed herself to her feet carefully, doing a mental checklist of injuries and finding nothing that would account for her being in the hospital although the clothing did hold up that idea as a possibility. No weapons either. It made her feel slightly naked to be utterly unarmed, and it was dangerous for a Turk to be so unless you were Rude perhaps. She unfortunately lacked the muscle mass to make up the brute force needed for hand to hand combat to be truly effective ( ... )

[also reposting because i'm super lame >A>]

"Nyergh, ugh, bunnies, ulp, nngrr, SAUSAGE!" Raz’s eyes flew wide open, his heart still pounding wildly against his tiny ribcage from the nightmare he just had.

Wait a minute, he thought. That was no nightmare, that was definitely real. By now, he’d entered so many minds, he could easily tell the difference, and that meaty, circusy, twisted father-and-son reunion thing was NOT a dream ( ... )
