The room was very, very white; white sheets, white hospital blanket, white walls. It was also a lot cleaner than she remember the little guard station Claire had left her in being. Sherry sat up and rubbed her eyes a few times. She didn't hurt, was her first thought, and a quick exploration noted that someone had changed her clothes, there were slippers in her closet, along with a few random things. The clothing was kind of ugly, but something that she could deal with. A Birkin couldn't be picky, not when they didn't have all the answers, her father had told her once.
Sherry worried her lip and looked around some more, when a lady came into her room, all smiles. "Good morning, Agatha!" she greeted her warmly, and talked a little bit slowly, as if Sherry wouldn't be able to comprehend what she was saying. "Or do you prefer 'Aggie?'"
Well, you're stupid, Sherry thought with a sour look. "That isn't my name, ma'am. It's Sherry." The nurse paused for a moment and sighed.
"You poor thing. Well, that's why you're here, aren't you, Aggie? Don't worry, we'll get you all fixed up. Today's a good day, too: an all-you-can-eat brunch! Won't that be fun?"
"No." Sherry replied stiffly as the nurse lead her out of the room.
"Why, sure it will be! Don't you worry, Aggie."
"Sherry!" the little girl replied stubbornly.
"Aggie." The nurse's inflection said quite simply that something not-pleasant would happen if Sherry kept this up. "Why don't you go to the sun room for a bit, I know this must be very confusing for you." Sherry frowned, you'd have to be blind, deaf, and mute to not know something was going on here.
