The hallway looked to end to the right of where they were coming from, and it extended out a long way to the left. It was truly eerie, looking out into such a large empty space and feeling like the only ones there, particularly when it was so dark

The walls were barren and utilitarian. "I am reminded of the barracks," she commented. "I would expect there to be more than just us and one other, though." That was assuming Euphy hadn't imagined hearing footsteps.

"I realize that question must have come out of nowhere. My older sister leads a regiment," she explained. "While I haven't had much occasion to see the soldiers' quarters" - an understatement if she had ever said one; it had been strictly forbidden for someone of her rank to interact more than was absolutely necessary with the soldiers - "I do agree that it reminds me of some type of military facility, or even a military hospital."
She stepped forward, shivering at the sound of her own footsteps. "You're right, though, Teresa," she said. "I'm surprised we haven't run into anyone else. It looks like the hall might fork ahead of us, though, so perhaps someone's there?"

Looking down the indicated hallway, Teresa nodded and gestured for the girl to continue on. She'd never been in the Organization's hospital area beyond the few days needed to recover and adapt from the infusion process. She'd simply had no need for treatment and she preferred to not think about those days where her dark beautiful hair had turned blonde before her very eyes.

As von Karma approached the intersection, he turned left, passing the stairs. As soon as he had retrieved his daughter's file, he planned to return to them.
He continued east down the hallway, still finding nothing and no one around. Most disquieting...

In this hallway there usually was an amount of patients around. But now, it was completely devoid of life. Surely, he couldn't have been this early?
It was suspicious, only somewhat confirming that something wasn't quite right...

Gazing up at the long staircase, von Karma took a few deep breaths, summoning up as much energy as he would need to climb it. Instead of admitting to Scar that he was uncertain whether the monsters were capable of climbing stairs, he merely answered gruffly, "The more time we waste pondering what these monsters are able to do, the more time we grant them to catch up to us, Mr. Scar. Let's move, now!"

Alkaid's angry footsteps echoed in the hallway as she marched. Gosh, the nerve of people these days! Riding off of her expertise all the way until she died! She had half a mind to turn around and bite that Venom guy, 'cause even though he looked so tasty...
No! Argh! Even if she was gonna die, she wasn't going to think stuff like that zombie-think!! Definitely not!
Even though a noob probably wouldn't be delicious at all. Uppity noobs had always been the worst kind of noobs. Even when Alkaid was dying and she felt like her arm was going to fall off and rot any minute now, she could still yell at a noob with the best of them.
There was no one else here. Still. She thought she'd heard people earlier, but any sign of life was long gone by now..

He knew his place. He was nothing in himself, he knew that, but he did have meaning. In keeping Master Zato's memory alive, he would always have meaning ( ... )

She hadn't even thought about keeping the information about the doctors' offices to herself. 'Cause even if she was really mad, she did kind of like Spock, and wanted him to find the doctors' offices even if she became mindless.
It looked like there was a little bit of activity up ahead. Was this where the rest of the patients were gathering? It sounded kind of like, uh, zombies, though.
When Mr. Spock suggested she be quieter, she had half a mind to turn around and tell him to shut his own damn trap if he was so worried about monsters. Wasn't it, like, scientific and 'logical' that higher frequencies didn't carry as far as low frequencies? She should be fine. She was justified ( ... )
