Nightshift 42: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

Still no sign of a soul. At this point, Alkaid came up with two options for what could have happened. Either everyone in the institute had, uh, died, which didn't seem too out of the question, or they were all hiding in their rooms like scared little kittens. Realizing at this point that she should have checked some of the other rooms in the hallway she woke up in, to check if they were occupied or not. Hey, maybe everyone was sleeping still! She could have just been the first person to wake up tonight, right?!
Except that didn't seem probable. For one, Alkaid had never been good at waking up early. Hell, she got scolded all the time for waking up late after a long night of playing The World, or a long night reading Conan the Barbarian, or Romance of the Three Kingdoms, or any of the exciting tales of heroes and adventure that lined her bookshelves. And even if she had been the first one to wake up, she should definitely hear doors all around her opening and closing, right?
For two, Alkaid did not know of any previous events in which this had happened. Patients were always carted to their rooms after day.. there were never two nights in a row, or a night, and then sleep, and then another night.
For three, Alkaid did not know how long she had been asleep. If it had been something like a month, then it would make perfect sense that everyone would have been wiped out by those godawful vampires and monsters by now. Hahah, maybe her coma could have saved her from such a fate!! How ironic. But that didn't explain waking up in an unfamiliar room with all her stuff replaced good as new...
Tch. Maybe if she went outside there'd be answers. At least there'd be a place for her to run around and stretch, 'cause her muscles felt pretty crappy. So she headed in the direction of the rec field. That'd be good, right? And maybe everyone was outside.. or something! Yeah, maybe..
