Night 41: Main Hallway 2-Center

[blindly stumbling from hereHis original plan of keeping by the wall forgotten, Kenpachi pushed forward in the darkness. There was a faint light at the end of this hall, probably from more of those light-thingies the other patients all seemed to have. Stepping a little further, that small amount of light was just barely enough for him to realize ( Read more... )

The center hall had been the home of enemies during random nights, usually brainwashed patients or something stronger than your average monster. Favoring her left leg, which pulled on the burns down her right side, Renamon glanced around, wincing. The medication was still working, however, and she simply had to hope it wouldn't effect her mental acuity or reflexes... More than her injuries already were.

Renamon glanced back at Utena. "In that vein, is there anything you're lacking information on? I can do my best to assist you."

"Well, I was wondering earlier what sort of paths groups have been following while looking for ways out. A friend and I were wondering earlier what answer to this place would be so hard to find out, but we weren't sure exactly what's been tried already and what hasn't. I've heard things about outside the institute and a basement, but not too many details on anything," she answered, keeping an eye on Renamon's limp. The older girl seemed to be doing fine with it thus far despite how painful it looked, which was reassuring (in a way). "Do you know much about what kind of progress has been made in those areas?"

A man. A woman. Rising temperatures. Renamon eyed the pair for only one moment before shaking her head once. The Digimon motioned the girl on, leaving the hallway to answer.

How he hated being lost! If only Yachiru were here...well, then he'd still be lost, but at least he'd have some company. This being lost on his own thing was kinda boring.

Kenpachi stepped out into the hall and glanced around. He couldn't make sense of anything, and couldn't remember if the door had originally been to his left or to his right. He stood there in the darkness for a while, trying to decide which direction down this hall he should go.

Tch. Eve had been bored enough to let her mind wander, and a naughty boy had slipped past her. Well, he was back now and she wasn't about to let him by again. Stretching lazily, she floated out of the concealing shadows and into the open. With her came a wave of heat for the humans nearby--heat not from without, but within, like a slowly building fever.

The faint moonlight from the glass ceiling gave her a decent view of her opponent--pah, didn't look like a very bright one. And unarmed, too. Big, though. Hopefully, for his sake, he had interesting abilities or this would be over awfully quickly. "Patients should be safe in bed, this time of night, not wandering around up here. Back the way you came, human."

Was it getting hot in this hallway, or was it just him? No, definitely not him...it was surprisingly warm. He wasn't terribly concerned, though. The shirt was restricting his movements anyways, and so with a tug he ripped the fabric open to expose his bare chest ( ... )

Eve just blinked her eyes, their faint green luminescence cutting out briefly and then lighting up again, at the strange display this human (whatever delusions he had otherwise, he was human enough for Eve) was putting on. She seriously hoped he wasn't flirting with her; Eve didn't go for lower lifeforms, and even his genetic material was useless to her here.

Pity she wasn't allowed to kill them.

Still, she had to smile back, but only in sheer amusement at the arrogance of this Zaraki Kenpachi. "You're going to kill me. With a pen." Missiles hadn't killed her, a pen sure as hell wasn't going to.

Best to stock up on equipment before heading to the experimental treatment hallway, Javert decided. Taylor had only given him one of each drug, and it was obvious that more than one patient would have been taken tonight. Even if there were people willing to rescue all of them, they might not have the medicine they needed.

He resisted the urge to tug at his collar as he drew near the open area ahead; there was a fight going on close by. Perhaps wearing the greatcoat had been a mistake; it felt unseasonably warm tonight.

The heat was rapidly becoming a nuisance. Javert eyed the fight as he did his best to slip by unnoticed; one man, apparently a patient, had elected to remove his shirt (so the heat wasn't affecting just him, then). While the other party involved, an apparent female, had also decided to forgo clothing, she was quite clearly not a patient.

Typical. Javert wondered just when this sort of thing had more or less ceased to amaze him, then decided he was better off not knowing. The door to the pharmacy was locked, so without further ado he got to work.

There was a satisfying click as the door swung open. A quick glance behind him revealed that the woman had quickly gained the upper hand; those claws seemed to do something to the other man, though what it was precisely was hard to tell.

Making a mental note of the fact, he disappeared into the pharmacy.

Easy as the path to the janitor's closet might be in theory, there was apparently always something that was going to pop up and make things a little more interesting. As Harvey moved down the hall, the first strange thing he noticed was how he suddenly started to feel very warm. It wasn't so much a rise in the outside temperature as a rise in his own temperature, which didn't make sense. Why would he feel like he just got a fever in the space of a few seconds?

Either way, the warmth was uncomfortable enough that he paused for a moment to catch his breath, and that was when he heard the sounds of a fight going on nearby. Trying to remain inconspicuous, he moved a little further down the hall until he could see what was going on.

Some patient who was pretty much shirtless by now (also because of the heat?) was fighting... something. Harvey couldn't make out all of the details of what it was, but he could tell that it was female in theory. It definitely wasn't human, though -- but coming across something that was so ( ... )

As if the sounds of a fight weren't odd enough in a mental institution, now there was some sort of a... What the hell is that? He couldn't really get a clear view of it from where he was.

Not sure he really wanted to know, but definitely sure he didn't want to attract its attention, he turned off his flashlight. The kid still had his- Might as well save the batteries. And maybe it's the heat from the flashlight that's making me so hot.

"So now what?" he asked, looking back the way they came.

Leonard turned back toward the rest of the hall and looked in the direction the kid was pointing- Okay, we're headed toward and around the whatever the hell that is down there. Why the hell is it so hot in here? He wiped the sweat forming on his brow, irritated by the heat. This place just seems to get stranger and stranger- what institute leaves the doors unlocked at night? You'd think the nurses would be all over us. And the lights being off is really a pain. And where the hell is that heat coming from?

He kept his flashlight off as he continued to follow the kid's directions. Fast. Quiet. That I can do. He removed his institute-issued slippers and tucked them into the waistband of his pants. Much easier to do without these on. He crammed his journal and pen into his pocket, keeping his flashlight in hand.

Lenny started padding down the hallway at a quick pace, hoping to reach the other side as quickly as possible. Don't stop, just keep going. You can ask the kid-- He thought he saw something move in the dark as he ( ... )
