Day 38: Breakfast

Jan 06, 2009 16:02

What a singularly delightful evening he'd had. It was dampened, of course, by two things, but those were small things and he supposed he could overlook them for now. First was that his powers had still not returned. If he truly were on punishment as he thought, though, he couldn't very well expect those to come back. Second was that the little ( Read more... )

So he fell asleep?

The unfortunate woman that was his nurse almost resorted to dragging her charge out of bed to get something to eat, and it wasn't before getting a lecture until Tyki Mikk finally entered the cafeteria to get his breakfast and find a seat.

He yawned before taking a bite from his breakfast, still somewhat groggy. He craved for a smoke and realized he had blown an opportunity to make use of the cigarettes he had. Not to mention he had spent the night in the most boring way possible, though he guessed it was a nice change to sleep properly for once instead of having a certain 'family' member wake him way before morning because she happened to be bored.

Tyki figured he'd just have to compensate for both his lack of excitement and his lack of nicotine tonight. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't looking forward to that.

Last night had been one mess after another and they were no closer to any goals. Rinali was gone and worse, another of their allies had been killed, at least from the sound of things. The mood was depressing, to say the least.

All the same, Allen piled his tray high with breakfast as he always did. The only face that caught his eye was that strange hobo from his world. He'd said before hadn't he, that his name was Tyki? Any other time he wouldn't have thought they were the same person; they were just so different, but anything did seem possible here.

He set his tray down a few seats away, not quite sure if he should get close, and started in on his breakfast.

Of course, Tyki hadn't failed to notice the young Exorcist. And he also hadn't failed to notice that Allen sat down a few seats away instead of near him.

Most people tended to avoid hobos, but this definitely wasn't the case for Allen Walker. Granted, the white part of his life probably didn't come with the best smell, but the last shower he had was only yesterday. He couldn't smell that bad.

It was for a completely different reason, and Tyki knew it. But for him it was all the indication he needed, and he slid his tray over with a grin.

"Mornin' to you too, boy." the hobo said cheerfully as he sat down.

Allen tried not to bristle as the man edged closer. He put on a smile, though he really didn't mean it. He'd hoped that Tyki would've just left well enough alone, but then again, perhaps it was better to have his attention here rather than on other patients. He didn't need any more incidents.

"Ah- yes. I was just-..." he trailed off, not exactly sure what to say. So, you really are Tyki? came to mind, though he was liable to be laughed at for something like that.

The last thing Scar remembered before waking up was dinner, which led to the conclusion that he had somehow slept through the whole night. Naturally without accomplishing anything aside from maybe catching up with his lack of sleep.

Which was, of course, a lovely way to start the day.

As it was the routine every morning, he acquired his breakfast and quickly found an empty seat (humans and their irritating furniture). Also quite the routine every morning; he once again wondered how he was supposed to eat his meal.

It seemed the whole situation was becoming rather repetitive. Day after day passed without a single step closer to solving the problem that was Landels, and it was slowly getting on his nerves. Scar munched on his breakfast, likely making a show of how he attempted to eat it.

He would have to be patient, however, merely buying his time. An opportunity would present itself sooner or later. Thanks to his own sharp wits, he'd be ahead of these disrespectful monkeys (their dear head doctor included) before long. They'd ( ... )

Brainiac 5 opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling, taking a moment to recall exactly what had happened to him the night before and try to remember if there had been any warning before he lost consciousness. No, he had simply been with Clark and Kvothe in the clinic, about to ask Clark something, then he'd awoken here ( ... )

Scar would be a rather bad predator if he somehow hadn't noticed the other patient sitting near him. He briefly studied the younger male as he munched silently on his breakfast. There wasn't anything of note, aside from maybe the rather curious mark on his forehead. The lack of greeting, however, proved that his breakfast companion wasn't the social type. That, or he simply lacked manners. Possibly both. Youth these days...

So the feline decided to take the initiative, partly because he didn't enjoy being ignored, especially not by someone much younger than he was. Often than not people tended to bother him when he wished to be left alone. He supposed such things were in reverse by default. Or something along those lines.

"Good morning." he greeted almost casually as he paused with eating. The food on his place had turned out to be a mess, but as a lion he simply didn't see the sense of table manners.

Brainiac 5 was busy dividing his attention between working out how to best expose Grell - or at least get to the bottom of what had really happened last night - and trying to put together what he had learned so far about this facility - distressingly little - all while automatically munching on an apple when Jeremy spoke up suddenly.

He looked up, frowning slightly as his concentration was broken. Would it have been too much to ask that he be allowed a moment to actually work on his current predicament without having to engage in needless human social customs? Still, considering Grell's attempts to kill him all because of that single post on the information board, perhaps he should endeavor to at least maintain a facade of pleasantry.

"Good morning," he answered, though he saw little that was actually 'good' about it. Even his lack of injury was tainted by the fact another had them in his place. "I am Brainiac 5, I suppose it is... nice to meet you, Jeremy."

[Unknowingly waiting for Harry Osborn]

Dean didn't think he'd lost enough blood to go blacking out.

Obviously he thought wrong: next thing he knew, he was waking up in the bed, his body sore and unable to see clearly out of one eye. Reaching up, Dean gingerly tested the bandages wrapped around his forehead: they weren't a rush job, he realized, finding that they wasn't too tight or too loose and why had they even bothered? For a place that seemed pretty determined on tryin' to get his ass beat or killed, it was surprisingly squeamish about finishing the damn job. Twice now he'd been unconscious. It would've been easy to kill him; he liked to think he was badass but honestly, if you wanted to go killing a guy, it couldn't get any easier then when he was out-cold ( ... )

Dean found himself seated at one of the empty tables, chin cupped in one hand, waiting for Hello Nurse to come back with his tray of food; she'd insisted on getting it for him so he could "take it easy", as if he was about to keel over. Dean absently checked her out, eyes on her ass as she bent over to get something to put on the tray. As asses went, hers wasn't all that bad. Dean scanned the room for Sam, mouth turned down in a frown as he searched for him. No sign of him; his giant of a brother would be hard to miss when he was towering over everyone else. Something in him went a little bit more still, all his questions and fears starting to bubble up in the back of his mind ( ... )

Harry was awake long before the morning intercom announcement thanks to the pain from the wound in his leg. It had been difficult enough getting to sleep last night but he was glad he'd decided to spend the night recuperating instead of braving the hallways again. While he was still far from recovered he thought the pain had receded somewhat overnight. He did heal faster than normal thanks to his father's performance enhancer and he'd never had so much reason to be grateful for its effects as he did now ( ... )

His new friend looked normal enough, close to his age and also pretty banged up - and how dense did the staff have to be not think it was weird? He'd also been flirting with the nurse as Harry was led over. Maybe the new plan was to sleep your way out? Couldn't work any worse than the other plans he'd heard.

Harry eased himself down onto the seat and arranged the crutch beside him. The nurse hadn't been quite stupid enough to get him food that needed two hands to eat but it was still going to be awkward. More to the point he'd rather not humiliate himself in front of a stranger by trying.

Ignoring his meal for now Harry glanced across at his companion. "Hey, I'm Harry." He didn't think he'd seen this guy around before but that didn't mean much, the only people he did see were the ones he didn't want to.

The nurse who came to collect Argilla that morning was very lucky that she hadn't tried to touch the demon. Perhaps she had self-preservation instincts after all, or maybe she just noticed the way that the demon's eyes were fixed on her throat and the way that she licked her lips.

Today was going to be a bad bad day.

Curse Heat for attacking that boy, and curse him for not killing him when he had the chance. She was hungry. Tonight though, tonight she was going outside even if the others didn't come.

She growled at the nurse when the woman filled her plate with useless food and sat in a chair as far away from everyone else as she could. The food looked even less appetising now that she was so hungry. The meat should have been bloody and red, warm from having been living only a few scant minutes ago, not brown and long dead.

It seemed the pink-haired one wasn't alone in her mood. Falis was still angry when she woke, noting the bandage on her left upper arm, just peaking out from the end of her short sleeve, where Yukari's arrow had pierced her. It throbbed, but the pain was bearable. She was pissed about the magical moron squad and... Namine ( ... )

Argilla looked up at the woman who approached her. For a moment, her mind was only processing thoughts about how much meat might be on her bones and whether or not that would even take the edge off her hunger for a few minutes. Argilla managed to wrench her mind back to some kind of human thinking, finally registering what the woman was saying.

Oh, the other night. Someone had seen. Not that she cared much, especially at the moment.

"Yes, I do." She replied flatly. There were big and nasty things everywhere in her own world, and she was one of them so what did she have to fear? She cocked her head to the side slightly, regarding the woman.

The bounty hunter dropped down into the seat and stabbed her sweet breaded sausage with a fork, her eyes never leaving the woman before her. This one was dangerous; Falis had felt it for a moment before she'd gotten a reply. She wasn't sure how or whether she should be concerned, but she'd sat down anyways.

"Was that a yes to the always going into the room thing or the death wish?" Falis' voice wasn't as demanding as it had been, but much more conversational. There was little around the she actually feared.

Sanzo sat down with a tiny wince, and regarded the tray before him warily. He was actually pretty damn hungry for once, but at the same time, he wasn't sure how much he could eat without being sick. Physically, he was starting to feel a little better... but mentally, he couldn't feel more drained. The last day and night had been a gigantic clusterfuck in themselves, spaced within a few hours.

At least something had come from last night, even if Sanzo hadn't gone too far. For one, Landel hadn't fucked Goku over. The kid was alright.

...But there was still the matter of keeping him out of the basement.

The moron hadn't exactly agreed with Sanzo's demands. At least not looked Sanzo in the eyes and promised he wouldn't. If there was something the monkey couldn't do, it was lie to Sanzo's face and do a decent job of it.

Goku hadn't exactly disagreed, but fuck, if it didn't piss him off that Goku tried to wheedle around it. When the hell did he start mouthing off this much? Sanzo honestly didn't remember it happening that often. At ( ... )

[This seat taken?]

The nurse that had arrived to bring Callisto to breakfast that morning had just barely avoided being roughly shoved out of the way as the blonde made her own way out, radiating agitation. This was the second night in a row she'd barely gotten anywhere, and while it was a marked improvement over the night before, she wasn't willing to deal with these roadblocks continuously. She was going to see this new promised area.

By the time she had her breakfast in hand, she'd calmed down a little. Getting angry enough that the staff stuck toxins in her again would only hinder her chances of nightly exploration. Instead, she busied herself with finding a familiar face and sitting down across from it with a smile.

"Good morning," she greeted, far too cheerful sounding for it to be honest. "And how are we doing this morning? Still living, I see."

Maybe save a bullet for the bitch suddenly sitting down across from him, he amended. Sanzo's face suddenly soured. She'd had her fun yesterday, what the hell was she doing back? Maybe he was feeling a little less like shit, but that didn't mean he wanted to deal with more hassle than he had to.

And Callisto was definitely more than just that, she was a royal pain in the ass. He had to put up with Gojyo being an idiot, but only because he occassionally had his uses. The same couldn't be said about Callisto.

"You can get the hell up and move on. I'm not in the mood for your shit." he said.

givemeoblivion January 8 2009, 04:24:46 UTC
"Aww..." Callisto's hurt expression was just as believable as her last. She made no move to do as he asked, instead picking at one of the oddly wrapped sausages on her plate. "But I'm always in the mood to see you." This was only half-true, of course. As much as she liked toying with the man, she had no doubt there would be times when His Royal Grumpiness wouldn't be needed on the scene. For now, she could have her fun.

She took a quick look around the room, just long enough to not catch sight of the boy Sanzo was so fond of. "Where's your little friend gone, by the way? I'm sure he was ecstatic to see you."
