NIGHTSHIFT 21: Hallway to Soccer/Recreational Field

Jan 26, 2007 17:08

[[from here]]Sasuke paused outside the door to the block of rooms. He'd gone right last night and up the stairs. In the same direction was the Sun Room, the cafeteria, and the doctor's offices -- in sum, he'd been through a significant amount of the institute to the right. Which meant it was time to head left ( Read more... )

[[Coming from here.]]Yazoo carefully made his way down the hall, wishing that he still had his acute sense of sight. Not being to see in the dark was definitely something he was going to have to get use to, and fast, especially if he wanted to survive the night by not getting lost ( ... )

[ From here. ]

It was only when Greed stepped out from the cell block that he realized one very important thing.

Schuldig. Shit, he'd almost forgotten the guy, and had the punk been a less valuable underling, he might have stayed forgotten, but as things stood...

Wait a goddamn minute.

The homunculus found himself thinking back on their conversation the previous night, the one where Schuldig had so easily dropped the comment that he'd not only allied himself with someone else, but hinted that the other person was stronger than Greed.

A tide of resentment washed over Greed's mind, and it was with a begrudging sigh that he leaned against the wall next to the door and crossed his arms over his chest with blackened hands.

Five minutes. If the fucker didn't show up in five minutes, Greed would show him he was lucky to be in Greed's employ.

Vincent was never one to sit around feeling useless, especially when he'd managed for so long to escape unscathed.

Unfortunately useful entailed something beyond creeping aimlessly through the dark halls with no weapon or purpose. He couldn't go to that entry room again, not without some sort of ally, and both of his were undoubtedly confined to their rooms for the night.

He turned the corner and abruptly froze. Someone (thing?) was loitering just a bit down what had to be a massively long corridor, and after last night Vincent didn't trust him for a second. Outside the M-hall everything seemed fair game.

With near silence Vincent advanced on whomever was standing a few yards away, unsure of how to gauge his intentions but knowing at least not to give away his own position just yet.

If Greed had retained his above-average senses, he might have heard the approach of another man even on the soft slippers that all the patients were restricted to. As things were, it was only because the hallway was otherwise empty that the homunculus managed to hear the slight sounds of movement and whirled around to face whatever was near him.

Oh, another patient. Greed gave an uneasy smirk, feeling a bit off due to the fact that, for a moment, he had thought that it might have been a monster, and, for a moment, he had felt a level of helplessness unknown to him before he'd come to this place.

"...What?" He asked, wondering what this guy's intentions were, and in the back of his mind seeing this as a possible window of opportunity.

Vincent faltered, surprised he'd been heard, and hesitated. At least he was just another patient. He squinted at the other man, trying to get a decent fix on who he was dealing with. His vision seemed off without the usual light of a flashlight or distant moon, worse than usual, though it wasn't particularly surprising.

"...What's over this way?" Vincent said after a moment, gesturing down the long hallway.

((Coming from here

Haku frowned and glanced first left then right. A door closest to him on the right, but a deeper hallway to his left.

He chose the door.

((That led to here. ))

The sound of footsteps and a quick look over his shoulder confirmed that Gaara was following. Not some creepy nighttime enemy-thing. Naruto slowed his pace so that they were equal. They reached the only door at the end of the hallway relatively soon.

"This must be it," he announced needlessly before opening the door.
