Day 36: Intercom, Evening

Oct 25, 2008 03:05

The intercom's jingle rang out and the somewhat uninhibited movement that was going on between the main activity rooms halted as the Head Doctor made one of his usual announcements ( Read more... )

Momo had been so very, very reluctant to leave Hitsugaya when the shift changed and the nurses came to collect them. She'd see him tomorrow, though, and she had a mission to complete. She had faith that Artemis would take care of Hitsugaya until the sedatives wore off. The nurses had confiscated the three markers she'd taken from the Arts & Crafts room, but that was fine. After drawing the fire bird on her cast, she didn't need them anymore.

The shinigami was rather pleased to see Anya was already asleep when she got back to the room. She was in too good of a mood to have it dashed by the oni's pessimistic and unorthodox views on things, so this was for the best. She quietly ate her meal, so as not to disturb her roommate, and then changed into her uniform. Once that was done, she went about the tedious task of cleaning the Noah's blood from her sword. Thankfully, she'd gotten that extra glass of water she'd asked for.

When Falis had to leave Hokuto and the Sun Room, she delayed long enough that her nurse started taking her back at the same time Yukari's nurse gathered her. This was going to take a bit of acting, pretending to be an enthusiastic teenager with the overly friendly and talkative vulture, but it'd be worth it. Sure, she'd have some explaining to do to Yukari the next day, but if it all worked out, that would be a acceptable consequence of her actions to deal with ( ... )

[didn't just reply with the wrong character journal, what are you talking about. =P]

A frustrated Senna came in to Alita acting like the cat that caught the canary. Great. At least one of them was happy.

She sighed, throwing herself on her bed before turning and grabbing the plate off the desk to pull next to her. "Yo," was her only greeting before shoving a few fries in her mouth.

Falis tracked Senna's movement through the room and her smirk faded. She cocked her head a bit.

"You look like you just had a pint of rotgut instead of the ale you ordered," Falis stated. "That's usually solved by decking the asshole that served it to you. Since they haven't poisoned you, I'll take a gander that you didn't deck anyone.'

The bounty hunter stabbed a piece of steak. "So what happened?"

She took the time to eat a few more fries. "I don't think I understood what you just said, but no. Haven't hit anyone. Wish that solution would work."

Senna looked up at Alita. "Are these days really, really short to you?"

Takaya was all but carried bodily into his room, the sedatives making him woozy and blurring the world at the edges. That, coupled with the shock, made him much more compliant than usual as he was set down on his bed.

As a precaution, the staff started to restrain him to his bed and he began to fight and struggle against the five-point straps, but another half-dose of sedatives and pain-killers calmed him down once more.

Takaya was now strapped to his bed, wrists and ankles tied down with another strap across his midsection. The nurse apologized and smoothed back his hair, but, she added, it was for his own safety as well as the safety of his roommate. He didn't want to hurt his friend did he?

Her words fell on deaf ears. Both sides had retreated into the deeper parts of their shared mental landscape.

Frey immediately ran to Takaya's side, when he saw the state his roommate was in. He demanded answers from the nurse, but all she told him was that Takaya had been "sedated" and restrained "for safety's sake." He was left with strict instructions not to loose Takaya's restraints--instructions he ignored as soon as the door was closed behind the nurse.

It was tricky, though, undoing the nearest wrist restraint without touching Takaya. Getting the far one would be impossible. Maybe one would be enough, and Takaya could do the rest himself? It certainly didn't look that way... "Takaya? Takaya, can you hear me...?"

Neither side of the teenager was in much of a state to do anything except blink slowly up at Frey.

"Br'kin." Whether he was referring to his wrist, Naoe's nose, or the state he himself was in was unclear. He didn't want Frey over him though, and he shied away, uncaring of the strain it put on his broken wrist.

"Oh, that's right. I should be able to heal it a little more tonight. I should probably eat first to give me energy, though." Frey moved away from Takaya carefully, then went to fetch both dinner trays. He put them on the dresser for a moment, then grabbed a desk chair and hauled it to the side of Takaya's bed. "There, now I can sit here, nearby, and you don't need to worry about me touching you. Do you want some of your dinner?"

Zelnick really hadn't wanted to stop hanging out with Xigbar-- he honestly enjoyed the guy's company, not to mention the way his company could distract him from the 'high' spirits the visit from Talana-- Tanya-- had left him in.

On the other hand, apple pie sounded incredibly delicious, as did steak, and he set into the stuff with evident enjoyment. Not quite home cooking, but he'd take what brightness he could get, tonight.

After all, it seemed like he'd have to be cheerful for two.

More dead animal for dinner. Steak sounded pretty good to Kenren. He hadn't tried it before, but he was, as always, open to new experiences. He grinned at Zelnick when he entered the room, going to slide into his seat and grab the tray. Then he frowned. One arm. This was going to be more difficult than he'd anticipated. Great.

"So, how was your day?" he asked, while attempting to cut the steak up into manageable pieces with one hand. He could always take the sling off, but it would hurt and he wasn't certain how much it would actually move.

Zelnick raised an eyebrow at Kenren's difficulties as he finished chewing and swallowed. "I've had better. Got a visitor that I'd rather have seen in any other context ever." He paused, then gestured with his fork and asked, "Uh, d'you want some help with that?" He'd helped quite a few people eat over the past week, between the ones who weren't used to having hands-- or mouths-- and the one who had what had got to have the fastest metabolism ever.

((OOC: I wont be able to post most of tonight, my chorale is performing. ^^;; S-sorry~?))

Kenren had to wince at the mention of a visitor. "Damn, I'm sorry to hear that," he said genuinely. "I had one last week and yeah, not someone I'd ever want to see as a victim of this place. His fingers clenches around the knife for a moment before he relaxed.

He gave a wry smile at the other man and nodded. "I hate to ask, but yeah, would you mind? I got a pretty big chunk torn out of my arm last night. It makes things awkward."

[That's okay ^^ No worries! I hope the performance goes well!]

Melissa was feeling much more relaxed and cooperative after her conversation with Ren, which she knew would help come nightfall when she was once again bombarded with the collective feelings of all the prisoners. It was still relatively quiet at that point, and she managed to halfway focus on what her nurse was saying as she was led back to the rooms ( ... )
