Nightshift 35: F21-F30 Hallway

Sep 20, 2008 16:19

Okay, so the day more or less completely sucked. The only consolation Toph had was in regards to the conversation with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan and the upcoming meeting with Renamon for her file and possessions. That is, if she could even find the woman. Renamon never got a chance to tell her the location of her room; the staff had intervened too ( Read more... )

Signum didn't especially like Momo sticking her on a mission and then declaring that she was going off to pursue some personal issue, but there wasn't a lot she could do about it. It wasn't the sort of thing she could bring herself to interfere with, not when she was so proud herself, and she certainly wouldn't shirk her own duties to do so. As with so many things, sometimes you simply had to hope things would turn out well and do your own part.

You wouldn't have known it to see her, though- the heavily-equipped knight was wearing the same dead-serious poker face as always when she stepped out into the hall. No, she'd save the sturm and drang for when something had actually happened.

Monsters. Experiments. The two words had followed Elincia around all day. She had spent her day in Doyleton in a daze, barely noticing those around her. The return trip to the Institute had almost seemed like a good thing after that. ...That is, until she had remembered what Siegfried had told her. Finding the way out became even more urgent. She would brave the halls again, she decided.

She was unarmed, save for her light and she was unsure if it would hold out at all in a fight, but she couldn't just stay in her room. She had been lucky the night before, perhaps her luck would hold out again. It was a foolish notion, especially because she hadn't known the truth the night before. However, she wasn't about to let a single opportunity pass her by.

Traversing back down the hallway she'd been in not too long ago, Beatrix made her way to Mion's room. Once there, she knocked.

"Mion!"

"Mion!"

Now there was a sound for sore ears - or, sore throat, rather, as Mion had been sick for a couple of days. All better now, though, Mion got up for her bed and walked over to the door, pulling it open - only just remembering as she did so that she would probably have to explain the... Shion thing to Arlene.

"Hey there...!" Mion gave the woman a halfhearted wave as she opened the door, motioning her inside. "Ah, come in."

The Bride smiled warmly to Mion and stepped inside. Once in the room, her attire became apparent dressed in the long flowing blue skirt and white top from the field trip. More noticeable, though, was the sheathed katana strung across her back with the hilt sticking up over her shoulder. Her right arm was wrapped in thick bandages from when 'Mion' had gotten her to the Clinic and there was a rolled up bundle of cloth underneath her left arm.

"Hey," she said as she closed the door. "Call today your lucky day - I've got presents."

"Presents?" Mion closed the door behind Arlene and watched the woman walk into the room, raising an eyebrow at her friend's clothes but not paying it much more mind than that. Her roommate did have that armor or whatever it was after all. She nodded at the cloth under the woman's arm, crossing her arms and deciding to ask about the bandages later. "What kind of presents?"

It had been a mostly pleasant day as she spent time by herself, and as night dawned she was able for once to look upon the threats of the night with a clear mind. She hadn't seen Allen that day, so she decided for the time being she'd wait for him. If he didn't show up, well, she'd just go out on her own. She was a big girl, more than capable of defending herself.

Naminé had just barely missed seeing Alita exit from a nearby room, doing a double-take as she saw the familiar figure stalk down the hallway to a room that was further down.

"Alita!" Naminé called out as soon she was close enough, jogging up to her friend and stopping short as soon as she spotted Alita's hand on the doorknob. Had she interrupted something?

"Oh, I'm sorry, is this a bad time?"

Falis almost jumped as Namine's voice called out to her. She froze where she was with the doorknob half-turned and, for the briefest of moments, she looked like a kid that had been caught doing something wrong. Namine probably wasn't going to appreciate the bounty hunter's attempt to sneak into someone else's room to poke through their private stuff.

"Uh... kinda," Falis replied, as her eyes moved from the door to Namine.

To tell the truth, Naminé would have left Alita go if her friend didn't jump like she looked like she got caught doing something she really shouldn't have been doing. While she knew it wasn't her business to pry...

"Um, are you meeting someone? I was just wondering if you were free for the night, but I suppose..." Perhaps she really was just meeting someone, but since Naminé was intending to ask for an escort, she decided to just get that out of the way.
