There came a quiet rustling from somewhere within the room, as something stirred warily, sensing the intrusion. There came no sound, however, or further movement after the first quiet sound.

Naomi frowned, hearing a soft rustling.

"Wait here," she told L, sweeping her flashlight over the room and stepping inside, looking for any sign of something within there. Another prisoner? A creature? Or just a draft that had caused something to move?

She wasn't about to call out, in case it was a creature. If it was... maybe she could get the jump on it.

If it wasn't, the worst she had to worry about was startling someone.

Quietly, the shinigami lead her team into the entry room. The source of the smell was easily discovered as the broken bodies of two bats stained the floor. She slowly moved into the room, eyes flickering upwards just in case there were more bats about. Seeing nothing threatening yet, Momo stopped and faced the door that was their target as she waited for her team to draw up next to her.

So far, nothing looked out of place; no indications of the winged lion. Then again, there hadn't been any either that first night - not until Allen started trying to rip the door open. At least the shinigami now knew what had originally been blocking the door.

"Formation suggestions, Signum-kun?" Momo asked as she continued to focus on the door. Just in case.

Four targets. Homo sapien. Level of threat: minimal.

The construct opened its blank eyes, initial scan complete. Four targets from the north attempting escape via main entryway. Level of priority: high. Hidden in the shadows, the T-103 had made the critical judgment to ignore the previous two, but that only meant the large humanoid was fully charged. These four weren't going to be quite so lucky.

As they pulled up in front of the entrance, Kratos tensed, grip shifting around the hilt of Tamaki's sword. He kept silent, waiting for Signum's suggestion so he could move into formation.

What was waiting for them? Momo had mentioned winged lions, but so far he could neither hear nor see anything that could be associated with them. Typical, of course- regular human senses were easily outstripped.

There was a chill running down his spine, though.

"Let me take lead. Anything on the ground goes through me first, any birds on the roof have to come in over you to attack me directly. Stay close if we get swarmed, spread out against anything big, if the opposition is unusually tough we use our magic to cover a retreat and try again another night." Signum said, not making the last part sound too terribly much like a suggestion. They'd made it this far unmolested... but it had been pretty bad outside when they'd had the 'field trip'.

Though she didn't know much about the capabilities of their team's third member. "Kratos," she said, "Can you do any tricks we should know about?"

One step into the entry room forced the girl to stop dead in her tracks, and her head tilted up at the surrounding vibrations. With alarm, she noted the presence of four others, all preparing to engage in combat. The most obtrusive one caught her focus first, giving the earthbender an eerie sense of déjà vu.

Toph shot out an arm as a warning to her companions. "We're not alone."

Renamon had to admire Toph's attitude. The girl was slight, but she had the confidence to make up for it. She nodded at Dairine once, then followed, almost running into Toph. She frowned at the quick stop, then silently listened to what was going on further inwards. So far, it seemed that they hadn't been noticed, still hidden in the shadows near the door. Renamon decided she'd like to keep it that way.

As quiet as she could be and still be heard, she whispered, "Go. Try to get into the closest file room. I'll keep guard here." She could probably attempt to kick the door down, but that would definitely call attention. She'd rather take the brunt of the attack if and when it came than allowing the girls to be harmed.

Dairine was about to reply, realized that was a bad idea, and merely nodded, hoping Renamon could at least tell that she acknowledged it. "Right," she whispered finally, just to make sure that everything was shipshape. Proper communication was crucial to wizardry, and not a tenet of her mental regimen that she intended to drop anytime soon.

Like a cat, and with skill born of many years of sneaking around in a house with creaky floorboards, Dairine began the stealthy trek towards the file room. Just to be safe, she began to prepare the fire-spell she'd been working on, syllable by syllable, hoping she wouldn't have to unleash it.

This development was not particularly pleasing, but Toph realized they had to move on. Getting tangled up in another group's fight would never help anyone. "Got it," she whispered before following the other girl to what she assumed to be the file room's entrance.

When the door was within reach, the earthbender found a pleasant surprise waiting for them. One touch of wood revealed a broken lock as well as an ajar door. "Looks like we're in the clear," Toph muttered.

There was already some kind of scuffle going on, but Kagura wasn't paying a lot of attention. She could see the door up ahead, even if the way was blocked by a really big guy and some smaller people trying to fight it.

Walking in behind Kagura, the Star Dragon Sword’s eyes widened impossibly large as the sense of undead he’d been feeling hit him like a ton of bricks. Poking his head around the body of his young companion, the Night Rune growled again as he caught sight of that rotting pile of flesh he’d battled previously. He still bore the remnants of a bruise that thug had given him.

"No!" Without concern of human moral ethics, the Star Dragon Sword wrapped his short arms around Kagura’s waist as he pulled her back out of the room.

Elle could care less what was going on in here. She just needed to get to the file room. Sticking close to the wall, holding her hand over her flashlight to hide the glow, she made her way to the closed door.
