DAY 33: BREAKFAST

Jun 22, 2008 12:56

Renamon blinked, and suddenly she was laying flat in the bed she had originally woke up in. The timing was impeccable, accenting Orihime's explanation perfectly. She just hoped that she hadn't freaked the girl out with her little disappearing act. She quickly shifted out of bed, and grabbed the journal she had wrote notes in last night, and jotted ( Read more... )

Kairi stretched her arms over her head when she felt a soft knocking on her door, surprise crossing her face once she realized she had slept all night. Oops.

Moving slowly down the hallway with her regular nurse, the once princess bid farewell to the woman before looking around the cafeteria - it was empty! A strange occurrence, but Kairi didn’t worry about it. She was just early, that was all. She had to talk with someone, so it was better to be early than late!

The only person sitting was a woman with short blonde hair and … oh! Moving towards the woman slowly, Kairi tilted her head to the side and gave the woman a soft smile. “Excuse me, are you Renamon? I’m Kairi.”

Nibbling lightly on the muffin she had took, she stared at the words she had written down. She had learned so much, but none of it held the answers she needed. More and more pieces were found, but they didn't fit cleanly together. There had to be something she was missing....

And then there was a girl standing by her. Surprised that she hadn't noticed the girl come up to her, Renamon half-stood to welcome her. "Yes, I am. Thank you for meeting with me." She sat back down, and slid her notebook off to the side, focusing her attention on her meeting partner.

In the end, Sora had gone swimming for no reason. He had searched the pond as best as he could considering he had barely been able to see, but he had found nothing. Eventually he'd been forced to give up, his worry over his two teammates urging him to get out of the pond, grab up his flashlight again, and start running toward their fight despite the fact that he had been sopping wet ( ... )

“Any time,” Kairi told the woman with a smile, taking a seat across from her before speaking once again. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Sora’s voice had the once princess turning towards her friend with a bright smile, her hand lifting as she waved. “Hey, Sora! I’m glad you’re okay too.” Turning back towards Renamon, Kairi smiled and gestured between the two. “Sora, this is Renamon. Renamon, this is Sora. It’s okay with me if you sit, because I’m sure you can tell her more information about going to different planets than I can.” Giving the boy a sheepish look, she turned back towards the woman and tilted her head to the side. “Is that okay with you?”

Beatrix was annoyed come morning. Once again, her and her ward's attempts at acquiring real weaponry failed. This time it wasn't because of any creatures blocking their way but simply because others had gotten there first. Had she been less injured and not with the girls, the Bride may have simply taken the knives from the two that had made it there first, but such an act would have been a bad example for her new apprentice ( ... )

For a moment, in that groggy state between sleeping and waking, Elle thought she was back in the facility. But once she'd properly opened her eyes and taken stock of her surroundings, she realized she was in the room she'd eaten dinner in. How annoying ( ... )

Beatrix hadn't missed the smile the tall white-haired man she'd threatened the night they'd taken Mion, but considering how obviously insincere the smile was, she felt no need to return it at all. She simply raised an eyebrow and went back to her thoughts about how she was going to go about her upcoming night.

Her thoughts were interrupted, though, when a nurse practically dragged another blonde woman over to sit with her. From the exchange between thw nurse and this newer prisoner, the Bride had the inclination to consider this woman to be a potential nuisance. At the very least, she was probably one of the more visible troublemakers.

"Arlene," the Bride replied, her voice as cool as her eyes. Troublemakers were something she needed to keep an eye on as they might deem it in their worst interest to mess with one of her wards.

"I see you're a favorite of the nurses," she replied dryly.

"Yeah, it's really weird," Elle agreed, wrinkling her nose. "I was just trying to make a friend, and they got so uppity about it."

The woman looked really familiar, but it might be better to keep that to herself. Considering how she herself had reacted when Reid told her he recognized her... well, she wouldn't want Arlene to turn into a stalker or anything creepy like that.

She probably wouldn't have noticed them if Mr. Bennet hadn't shouted like that, but of course someone yelling about Claire would get Elle's attention. She craned her neck to see the squishy and adorable Bennet Family Reunion over Arlene's shoulder. The whole thing made her nauseous, and a little frustrated. If Bennet was here, why wasn't her own father?

One of her hands had fallen beneath the table, and she tried to generate electricity, but it wouldn't work! Why wouldn't it motherf-ing work?! In frustration, she banged her fist on the table, but that only served to hurt her hand.

"I'm sorry," she mumbled quickly to Arlene. Don't make her suspicious, keep a low ( ... )

(Waiting for Kuro-mama, I think? :x)

Yuffie had argued with her nurse all the way to the cafeteria. Well, sort of; arguing wasn't exactly the right word of it. For one, she'd been doing most of the talking. The nurse, on the other hand, had been politely, helpfully oblivious.

Nursey, as she had been dubbed, hadn't been able to tell her about Vincent. Or about the rest of AVALANCHE. Or, to Yuffie's irritation, much of anything, really. No word of the fighting, no word about the Deepground soldiers or the WRO. Just that she was at some place called 'Landel's', and that she'd be staying there until she was better.

Which didn't make much sense, because she was fine. Jumping at shadows, but fine. Even the best ninja got a little spooked sometimes, right?

And another weird thing, Yuffie thought hurriedly- she didn't want to think too much about why she was freaked- as she stared at the selection of food she'd been led to, was that the nurse had gotten her name wrong. 'Hanna Bloom' was nothing like 'Yuffie Kisaragi', no matter what ( ... )

Kurogane's poor nurse had gotten the first dose of his irritation, as always, once morning had come. Now it was up to five nights that he'd done absolutely nothing towards getting to the basement so he could search for clues. That was five days since he'd been able to take the metal stick up the side of anything's head. He might have been more angered over it had it not been for the fact that the Princess had been involved this time. No movement meant that she hadn't had to endanger herself anymore, and that was probably for the best ( ... )

After being prompted by Nursey, Yuffie finally decided on apple juice and some random cereal. She was more restless than hungry, though, so whether or not anything would actually get eaten was just yet another mystery to add to the pile.

And boy, there were a lot of mysteries. Where her friends were, where her enemies were, why she didn't have any of her stuff and was being forced to wear a weird shirt with a smiley face-- it was either the shirt or go naked, and she was pretty sure there were rules against that.

Not that she was one to listen to rules very often. Maybe she should contemplate running around nude later? If anything, it'd be a great way to cause a stir.

But! First of all, she needed to find out what the Hell was going on in this place. More people (patients?) were trickling in as time went on, and Yuffie was willing to place bets on them being a better source of info than the likes of Nursey. So all she had to do was find a victim person who looked like they might know what they were talking about ( ... )

It wasn't teasing the magician was doing, but conversing, and seriously by the look of their expressions. That was rare enough, seeing Fai take anything seriously unless he'd been forced into being so. Kurogane couldn't think what the other might have done to get that response out of his companion, but it was clear that something had been done. The what was a mystery though.

Watching was all he could do for now. Fai wouldn't continue to be seriously if Kurogane interrupted, and it was easier to watch from a distance anyway. Or it would have been had he remained uninterrupted in his watching.

His red eyes turned up at the girl who'd spoken, hard as ever but not glaring with any intent. What did she want? "What?" he asked.

Hughes headed into breakfast feeling refreshed, for a change. He'd ended up sleeping through the night, and he had to say, he didn't mind that fact. sure he'd missed last night, but it meant he'd be in an even better position tonight.

He yawned widely as he grabbed a breakfast sandwich and took an empty seat to dig in.

Maybe Roy or one of the others had had a good night....

After yet another calm (but productive) night, Roy was feeling fine when he woke up in the morning. Despite all that, he was determined to actually venture out in the coming nightshift. Hopefully Jade would understand, since he had already given him two nights of his time, and the man seemed to be moving along rather nicely, all things considered.

Some luck at the bulletin board helped his mood even more, and once he had spent enough time doing that, his nurse started to urge him that he needed to get to breakfast already.

As usual, Roy got himself some food and then took a quick scan of the cafeteria. Relief hit him when he spotted his best friend, and he didn't hesitate to head over to the man.

"Morning," he greeted, as if this was any other meal back at headquarters. He took the seat across from Hughes.

"Morning," Hughes returned with a grin, tipping his cup of cocoa in greeting to the other man. "How'd your night go?"

Roy didn't look pissed off or tired, so Hughes figured it had gone fine. Hughes figured that was a good sign.

"It went well," Roy said, tone matter-of-fact, though his eyes were drawn to the cup of hot chocolate that his friend had. He hadn't thought to get some for himself, and while it wasn't as good as tea or coffee, it was something. "Mind if I have a sip of that?" He didn't think there was anything too suspicious about sharing drinks.

"I got maps, and Kadaj dropped off quite a lot of supplies for me, and I've been attempting to teach alchemy to another patient here." That about summed it up, and describing it made him realize that he really had gotten a lot done.

"How about you?" Hughes hadn't volunteered for an assignment last night, so Roy had to assume he'd had something else to take care of.

There'd only been little time to play around with the toy he'd found last night, so it would just have to wait. It wasn't the most convenient object to hide when morning came though, but he was creative with rearranging things in the closet so that it didn't appear too obvious. As far as he could tell, they didn't really check all that closely anyway. What was the point of letting them run free at night and collect things if it wasn't a game ( ... )

Stretching lazily as he woke up, Harry was disconcerted to find himself in a strange room. It took him a minute of looking around before he recalled just where he was. Even more puzzling was the fact that he didn't remember coming back to his room last night. He was fairly certain he wouldn't have been able to find it on his own, so how had he gotten here ( ... )

It wasn't often that people approached him, but he smiled pleasantly all the same. The man looked fairly young, and Gin was certain he hadn't seen him around the place for very long. He was getting a little bit bored of the usual welcome speeches and the vague descriptions of what he knew about the place. But he supposed he might as well. The kid might have something useful, after all.

"Been here a lil' while," he admitted, "you c'n call me Gin." Since he'd given his first name, Gin would as well. With all the different cultures here, it wasn't as if he could expect the boy to follow any sort of protocol. "An' lemme guess. You're new an' y'got some questions?"

Harry couldn't suppress a chuckle at Gin's response. "Sounds like you're a real old hand. Yeah, I got here-" he hesitated unsure what to say. If he admitted to arriving yesterday then someone might be able to link his questioning of people to the post he'd made on the bulletin board yesterday and the last thing he wanted was for his target to find out who he was before he was ready ( ... )
