DAY 33: BREAKFAST

Jun 22, 2008 12:56

Renamon blinked, and suddenly she was laying flat in the bed she had originally woke up in. The timing was impeccable, accenting Orihime's explanation perfectly. She just hoped that she hadn't freaked the girl out with her little disappearing act. She quickly shifted out of bed, and grabbed the journal she had wrote notes in last night, and jotted ( Read more... )

Kairi stretched her arms over her head when she felt a soft knocking on her door, surprise crossing her face once she realized she had slept all night. Oops.

Moving slowly down the hallway with her regular nurse, the once princess bid farewell to the woman before looking around the cafeteria - it was empty! A strange occurrence, but Kairi didn’t worry about it. She was just early, that was all. She had to talk with someone, so it was better to be early than late!

The only person sitting was a woman with short blonde hair and … oh! Moving towards the woman slowly, Kairi tilted her head to the side and gave the woman a soft smile. “Excuse me, are you Renamon? I’m Kairi.”

Nibbling lightly on the muffin she had took, she stared at the words she had written down. She had learned so much, but none of it held the answers she needed. More and more pieces were found, but they didn't fit cleanly together. There had to be something she was missing....

And then there was a girl standing by her. Surprised that she hadn't noticed the girl come up to her, Renamon half-stood to welcome her. "Yes, I am. Thank you for meeting with me." She sat back down, and slid her notebook off to the side, focusing her attention on her meeting partner.

In the end, Sora had gone swimming for no reason. He had searched the pond as best as he could considering he had barely been able to see, but he had found nothing. Eventually he'd been forced to give up, his worry over his two teammates urging him to get out of the pond, grab up his flashlight again, and start running toward their fight despite the fact that he had been sopping wet ( ... )

“Any time,” Kairi told the woman with a smile, taking a seat across from her before speaking once again. “It’s nice to meet you.”

Sora’s voice had the once princess turning towards her friend with a bright smile, her hand lifting as she waved. “Hey, Sora! I’m glad you’re okay too.” Turning back towards Renamon, Kairi smiled and gestured between the two. “Sora, this is Renamon. Renamon, this is Sora. It’s okay with me if you sit, because I’m sure you can tell her more information about going to different planets than I can.” Giving the boy a sheepish look, she turned back towards the woman and tilted her head to the side. “Is that okay with you?”

"It's nice to meet you as well." She was getting better with human decorum. She nodded at the boy. "That's fine." She turned back to Kairi. "Is this the friend that you were going to bring?"

Passing over all small talk entirely, Renamon started in on her topic. "I'm trying to compare others' knowledge of other worlds, and form a theory based on that information. Where I come from there are two worlds, though a friend of mine mentioned that more were out there. We can go back and forth to these worlds that never touch through portals we call doors. These aren't different planets; more two completely separate worlds, that are somehow connected to each other."

She made eye contact with each, and then asked, "What I'm wondering is what defines different worlds to you, and how have you traveled between them?"

While Sora hadn't actually been told about any of this in advance, he didn't mind being brought into the conversation. It happened to be something he knew a whole lot about, and if Kairi wanted to get to know Renamon, then he probably did too.

Starting in on his food, Sora did his best not to be distracted by what he was eating as he listened to the girl's explanation. She was very matter-of-fact, which was a little intimidating, but what she was saying was definitely interesting.

"Hmm... I know a lot about opening and closing doors, but it sounds different from what you're talking about. The easiest way to get through worlds is by space travel, though sometimes the paths between worlds are closed and you need to open a door to open the paths." There was also the heart of a world to consider, but he probably didn't need to get into that.

“Oh, yeah. But I wasn’t able to ask him, so …” turning to give Sora a shrug, she turned back to Renamon with a smile. “But he appeared he anyway. Sometimes things just work out that way.”

Kairi couldn’t help but think that this woman was very intelligent, ‘causing her to think about what she was going to say. “Another way to get around worlds was with portals. I don’t really know how they worked because I can’t control them, but a friend of mine was able to go to and from worlds whenever he wanted to.”

After another pause, Kairi turned towards Sora and smiled. “I know I haven’t seen nearly as many as Sora, but I know that the ones I have been to were all very different. Different clothe styles, different building styles, different everything. Some worlds are simply islands, or some could be large cities. The range of differences is pretty big, right, Sora?”

She listened silently through all of it, extremely intrigued in spite of herself. Impmon may have known about other worlds and ways to get there, but to Renamon there was only the Digital World and the human world. Hearing all this was exciting. Of course, no one who didn't know her would be able to tell, as she was still sitting silent and expressionless ( ... )

When Kairi mentioned a friend she had who was able to get around using portals, he had to wonder who she was talking about. It had to be Axel, right? They seemed to have become good friends somehow, though he wasn't sure what the circumstances were, considering Axel had kidnapped Kairi at one point ( ... )

Was her friend human? Kairi paused at the thought, trying to explain a Nobody. “Well … yes and no. He’s more of like … a shadow of a person. A body with no heart, yet can still move around. Sora and I both have one. It’s … hard to explain… I don’t think there’s really even a way to say how they’re able to do it.”

She listened closely to Renamon’s comment, followed by Sora’s explanation of the keyblade. “The keyblade chooses it’s master, and it chose Sora. I can use one, but … not very well. So I’d rather leave it all to him.” Letting out a soft laugh, Kairi turned towards Sora and winked.

Getting back on topic, the teen tilted her head to the side, her hands resting in her lap as she turned back to Renamon. “What was your world like? Or called?”

Listening to Kairi's explanation, he figured it had to be Axel, unless she had gotten close to one of the other Organization members without telling him. That couldn't be possible, though. Who would it have been? Xigbar? LuxordNo way ( ... )

Was Sora strong? Kairi couldn’t help but simply smile at Renamon’s words about her friend, knowing that he was very strong, both physically and mentally.

The whole traveling without hearts things caused her to pause though, and for a moment the once princess tilted her head to the side as she tried to think. “Hm, you know, I have no clue, actually. Maybe? I know nothing about the Nobodies … I didn’t even know they existed until one showed up on my island.”

Listening to what Renamon called the “digital world” caused Kairi to blink in surprise, curiosity lighting up her eyes. “Beautiful sometimes? Does it chance on a daily basis? And digital … you mean like technology?”

Sora didn't sound too sure about the doors. Hmm. Perhaps she should focus on something different. "Okay. If you don't mind, what can you tell me about the Keyblade, then ( ... )

A constantly changing world? While he had thought it might be similar the digital world he had visited, it seemed that wasn't the case. Either way, Sora was interested and would have liked to see Renamon's home for himself -- he would have to commit the name to memory and see he could find out anything about it once he made it back to the islands ( ... )

“Yes, he’s a Nobody. There are … a few of them here.” Thus far there were only two she really considered friends (Roxas and Axel, of course. Naminé didn’t count.), but still Kairi didn’t know whether or not to warn Renamon about the others quite yet.

“A changing world?” how strange. The thought made Kairi frown - if her home kept changing, what would she have done? “You must be very strong yourself, then … if you’ve been able to stay alive.” A world where everything changed depending on certain things … what things caused the change? Would such a question be too personal to ask? Deciding it was best to simply ponder, the once princess kept her mouth shut as Sora explained the keyblade.

Despite the conversation, Kairi really had nothing else to say on the matter of the keyblade. She didn’t really know anything about it - after all, she had spent a year on the island without knowing anything that was going on! How was she to explain a weapon she had only held for what felt like a matter of moments?
