Renamon blinked, and suddenly she was laying flat in the bed she had originally woke up in. The timing was impeccable, accenting Orihime's explanation perfectly. She just hoped that she hadn't freaked the girl out with her little disappearing act. She quickly shifted out of bed, and grabbed the journal she had wrote notes in last night, and jotted

"Good morning." So Fai wasn't quite up to his normal standard of faking good cheer and joy, was he? Perhaps the man had experienced a bad night, though the injuries he had wouldn't attest to it. Something else then, perhaps psychological, or dealing with one of the new patients from the previous day.
Or maybe Fai was simply nervous about approaching Homura. He had reason to be, especially given what was in the file the demi-god held.
"Let's come to the matter at hand, shall we?" Homura relaxed as much as his injuries would allow (which unfortunately wasn't much), and met Fai's gaze across the table. "Why are you so desperate for the file this place has on you?"

"That wasn't part of the deal," he said pleasantly. "Nor is it very important," he added, stirring ketchup into his hashbrowns. "I'd just like to have it, if you've got it."

She walked through the line and picked up her food, avoiding the meat. There was just something strange about eating pig when she had.. well, what with having been one on several occasions. She hadn't seen Winry or Bridget come in yet, but she hoped they were alright too. Things just seemed to get worse day by day.

"I'm... doing alright," she tried her best to look the part, but it wasn't easy. "Hey... look, we match!" she added, pointing to the sling he wore on the same arm she did. She didn't want him to fret, but it was nice to know that someone cared, all the same.
"I... met with Winry-san and Bridget-san last night," she explained. "We were just going to go exploring. I guess... I wasn't careful enough." She gave a short laugh and a shrug. "I didn't think to look up at the ceiling. The bugs are just so gross, aren't they?"

But when he tore open the closet doors to look, he was relieved (and a bit surprised) to see colors aside from grey. The telltale blue of old jeans, and the reds and blacks of his shirts. Well, thank fucking god, or whatever the hell was looking out for his wellbeing. And upon pawing around a second time, he found the smokes and lighter--added bonus, he had to admit. The sudden excitement only reminded him that it was too damn early, way too early for a guy who'd been forced awake at the same time for a few days now, and when his nurse popped in like clockwork to take him away to the cafeteria, he nearly decided to punch her just because ( ... )

Allelujah just stared at the ceiling for a long moment. He'd been in the corridor with River, apologising for Hallelujah hurting her for us hurting her, Allelujah and now he was laid in bed, covers pulled up around him. How? He could almost accept just waking up here in the first place, but how did he get from the corridor into his room without noticing?
He sat up, sighing heavily and pushed himself out of bed just in time for a nurse to come and get him. She tried to grab him again, obviously not realising how unwelcome that was, not to mention dangerous should Hallelujah take exception.
She led him out into the cafeteria, fussing over him as she 'helped' him pick out some food and juice and a mug of hot chocolate since it was apparently a special treat from the Head Doctor to the patients. She led him to a seat, far more central in the room than he'd have liked, and set his tray down, telling him that he was sure to make friends soon, such a sweet boy ( ... )

He looked up in surprise when someone approached him, setting down the mug and giving the blond man an awkward smile. "Uh sure, go ahead," he said, gesturing to the seat genially. He looked down at his food for a few moments, idly playing with the knife and fork before he glanced back up, realising that he should be saying something. "I'm Allelujah."

"Nice to meet you, Allelujah." It was an odd name, but there were lots of those around there. It made him glad that his own name was simple, even if it was actually a nickname of sorts. "I'm Guy."
He took his sandwich into one hand and took a bite as he considered how to start the conversation. Immediately asking the man questions didn't seem fair, so he figured he would make an offer instead. "You're new, right? Feel free to ask if you've got any questions." He imagined Allelujah might after his first night.

The next, daylight was streaming through the windows. Edgeworth woke up to the intercom with a scream on his lips, one he swallowed back down quickly. He had a headache, and the chirpy intercom announcement of the lack of coffee just made it seem worse; the prosecutor had been hoping for either coffee or tea to help with his head. The flimsy excuse of not letting people have too much caffeine didn't hold water, and the gloating on top of it didn't sit well with the man at all.
On top of all that, this was a morning where, in addition to the headache, he had explaining to do. We didn't get into the doctor's offices because of a fight in the Sun Room. That was going to go over just wonderfully ( ... )

He was going to go crazy if he had to wonder all day about what the man wanted to speak with him about.
Once in the cafeteria, he helped himself to a bowl of cereal and hot chocolate. Hot chocolate! He didn't like the Institute, but at least breakfast had redeemed itself in some small way.
Wanting to get to the hot chocolate right away, he glanced around the cafeteria to find a place to sit. There was a corner table where a grey-haired man was seated alone... Perfect! Kaito crossed over to the table.
"Anyone sitting here?" he asked, giving the man a friendly smile.

"No, no one's sitting here," Edgeworth said, after a long swallow of his hot chocolate. His first instinct had been to say, "yes," but he just couldn't bring himself to do it, even as grumpy as he was feeling.
"Miles Edgeworth. I think I've seen you around here a time or two, but I'm afraid if we met, I've drawn a blank on your name. The lack of caffeine gets to a person after a while," he added. "And so does...well, what doesn't get to a person around here?"
He took a few bites of his sandwich, chewing thoughtfully. Kids. Always the kids. I think I must have some sign I can't see on my back that says, "Hey, kids! Come bother me!

Kaito set down his tray and slid into the seat when the man indicated the seat was free.
"Nah, we haven't met yet. Kuroba Kaito," he responded, giving his own name. Edgeworth's name sounded familiar, like he'd heard it in passing, but he couldn't quite place it.
"Some things aren't too bad..." He paused, and shook his head before correcting, "Some things aren't as bad as they could be. At least we're all sane; it'd be a lot worse if we really were nuts."
