In his left hand, he clutched a spear, the point tilted down and resting in the earth.

The first thing Mal did as he stepped outside was lift his head to the sky. There weren't many stars out and none of them seemed to be in any patterns he was familiar with. Wash would probably have had a better idea, but there was no point in dwelling on that.

Mal seemed to enjoy the fresh air as well. It was a welcome change from the stuffy atmosphere inside.
Zelos spotted the other figure in the field as well, and understood Mal's distrust. He made his half cocked grin and nodded in understanding.

It was dark outside, and perhaps a little more chilly than Obi-Wan had anticipated. (Qui-Gon had been wise to grab that coat from his closet.) Still, the fresh air was a nice change from that of the building, and the presence of some greenery was reassuring. Though he was aware of the dimly lit group of prisoners on the field, the dark shapes of trees beyond the stretch of grass also interested him.
Glowrod illuminating the path before them, Obi-Wan briefly motioned for Qui-Gon to follow before making his way towards what he assumed to be some sort of courtyard.

He immediately noticed the people who were talking, and pointing a flash-light at some strange creature with something metal over it's head. It was quite formidable looking, reminding him vaguely of a tyrant.
Wesker had dealt enough with tyrants to know he did not want to fight one without appropriate weaponry. So, he quietly headed away.
