Nightshift 29: M41-50 Hallway

Jan 19, 2008 09:43

Renji quickly got dressed once he finished his dinner, gathering his normal supplies and making a makeshift sheathe for his sword from the bedsheets. He also left the few maps he'd had a chance to make - four of them - on his desk, labeled with who should get them if they remembered to stop by: Aoyagi R, Yagami Light, Kudoh Yoji, and one unlabeled ( Read more... )

When Artemis heard the distinct sound of clicking scalpels, and the threat made by Nurse Lydia (or so he assumed--it wasn't that difficult to piece together, after all), he'd sincerely wished that he'd asked Hitsugaya for the night off. The fact that they would be actively seeking those monsters made Artemis shudder under Haku's blanket ( ... )

Haku had stood and moved from the blanket when Artemis did, moving to gather up his own things. He was running dangerously low on ... well, just about everything and would have to see about stealing a few things tonight before it was too late.

He looked up and smiled at the outfit Artemis wore. "Very interesting," he said. "It suits you quite well." He had only seen wealthy merchants and the like wear suits like that. Clearly, Artemis was a rich as he claimed.

"But ... where on earth did you get it?"

"I'm not sure..." Artemis said with a frown. "It wasn't in here last night or the night before. But it's definitely mine," He showed Haku one of the cuff links. "This is my family's crest. Where Landel got this... I'm not certain I want to find out."

Artemis slipped into his coat and slipped his hand into the pocket. He produced the scalpels Haku had given him and offered them to his roommate. "Do you need these?"

"That's... strange." Haku wondered if he were to get his own clothing back from home, would it be the pink yukata or his assasin's outfit? And, were it the latter, would it still be covered in his blood and have a hole through it?

Haku smiled and shook his head. Reaching under his matress, he pulled out his set of senbon needles and held them up for Artemis to see. "I have these to work with, and I still have a few scalpels left. Please," he stuck the neddles in his pockets. "Keep them. You never know who might need them if you don't."

Qui-Gon puzzled over the intercom post. Martin Landel, it seemed, was either away (ominous in itself) or otherwise preoccupied. With what remained to be seen. Yet another question without an answer, he thought, setting about his room and gathering up what he would need to begin exploring Landels again. The Earthian flashlight's bulkiness took some getting used to, after being used to the lightweight glowrods, and he still had no idea how much power was in the device. Hard to tell with Earth's level of technology.

Shrugging one of the patient-coats over his shoulders, Qui-Gon opened his door and stepped outside. As was becoming a custom for him here in Landels, Qui-Gon closed his eyes for a brief moment and took a deep breath to center himself, stretching out with the Force to see what he could clean from it. Much of it was the same as before. Despair. Anger. Fear. Dark emotions that created tremors through the Force, rippling down at him even with his weakened abilities.

To be honest, Obi-Wan hadn't known what it was he was going to do tonight. It was unusual for him -- he usually liked to have at least some idea of what his plans were. But dinner had lasted a shorter time than he'd anticipated, and it hadn't given him much time to do much preparation ( ... )

Qui-Gon sensed Obi-Wan coming a few minutes before he actually saw him. It seemed these days that of every patient here, his bond with Obi-Wan was the strongest, and his sense of where he was in the Force felt to him particularly strong after the Knighting ceremony. Or what probably had to be the most unorthodox Knighting in the history of the Order for quite some time. Qui-Gon matched his friend's relief in the Force with relief of his own.

"No, I didn't," Qui-Gon said. He wasn't sure yet if that was a good thing or not, but he had gotten some more reading in. "What about you?"

The last time they had a visitor, it had been a young boy that Obi-Wan said was the spitting image of Anakin. Qui-Gon believed that it was possible Anakin had been already taken and wondered what he was up to now.

Obi-Wan shook his head. "Not this time, no." He wasn't really sure if that was a good thing or bad thing, either. The Jedi was certain that the boy who'd visited him last week was Anakin Skywalker. He hated to think that Martin Landel had taken him and altered his memories, but right now, that possibility seemed very real.

"Did you have any particular plans for tonight?" he asked after a moment. They'd never really had a chance to discuss it, though he imagined it wouldn't take them long to settle on something and go for it.

Yohji had eaten a good bit of his food for once, feeling better than he had in a while, even with his and Ken's grumbling about Aya. Even the time with Schuldig had been pleasant. The teasing had been kind of fun even, albeit in a very bad place to leave him aroused.

No roommate. That guy had never arrived and Yohji could only clock him down as another disappearance.

He'd made sure to stretch well before setting out, knowing that he was probably going to get his ass kicked. But he needed the practice since he didn't have a weapon here.

He grabbed his knives and the bottle that he'd liberated from the doctor's office the other night and set out. He stopped by the room that had been mentioned on the bulletin and found a map with his name on it which he carefully folded and slipped into his pocket. He knew a few people who'd like copies of it.

With that, he headed off to Cliff's room.

Hisoka abandoned his dinner the moment the intercom crackled to life, signaling the coming transition between day and night. Not paying much attention to his roommate, the boy quickly busied himself in collecting supplies for the night as he consciously ignored the book on his desk. Bribe or not, it was... It was stupid. Just a stupid gift.

Hisoka didn't move back towards his desk until Renji left and even then, the boy waited a few moments to make sure he was going to come back before cautiously opening the book cover. He almost wished that he didn't have to do anything tonight, that he didn't have to try and escape from another form of hell and that he could go home and read it.

Almost, because wishes were for idiots. Hisoka let the book fall shut before he hid it securely beneath his mattress and left the room.

Since he'd already started getting ready during dinner, it really didn't take Claude that long to get his things together. After slipping on his fingerless gloves, he grabbed his pillowcase and tucked the two books he'd stolen from the library the other night inside. Then he tightly tied the makeshift bag to his clothes rod. With that pressed against his shoulder, he tucked his journal under his arm, grabbed his flashlight and flicked it on.

The blond took a brief moment to straighten his hair a little. Now that he thought about it, he probably looked like a bizarre cross between a boy scout and a hobo. He liked to think it was more like a rogue soldier, though. But whatever! Claude was definitely packed and ready to go, either way.

And with that, he stepped out into the hallway and made his way out into the darkness.
