Day 29: Arts & Crafts Room

Jan 04, 2008 12:29

Arts and Crafts. Why in the name of all things sane and logical had that blasted nurse decided he looked like he'd enjoy Arts and Crafts?! HK made his irritation known very loudly and at great length to the meatbag, who persisted in her belief that he'd feel better after a chance to creatively express himself ( Read more... )

[I can delete if you're waiting for someone]Yay! Arts and Crafts time! He could have stayed in the cafeteria, but that was only human food, which wasn't very tasty or filling, but then again nothing was ever really all that filling, not even the really fat guy he ate that one time, who took him two whole minutes to finish eating. He was really tasty and delicious and he cried and said please don't please don't but Gluttony didn't care because Lust said he could eat the big fat man so he did and the big fat man was wonderfully delicious ( ... )

HK glanced up as he saw a meatbag approaching, his hands still filling in the last details on a picture of a charred-looking something covered in electrical burns. He was always astonished at how close human meatbags could come to Hutt-sized.

"Query: What do you want, meatbag?" He would have said 'Greeting:', but he was suddenly calculating in his head how much mass it would take before leaving the vicinity of a meatbag would require a significant escape velocity.

Gluttony blinked a few times. Why did the man who drew the tasty pictures say Query before asking him a question? And meatbag? Was there a bag of meat somewhere, or was that him? He wasn't sure. Maybe he was trying to insult Gluttony, which would be good because then he could ask Lust and Lust would let him eat the tastypictureman. That would be nice. He was really hungry.

"I'm hungry," he complained, his stomach rumbling as if to prove the point.

"Statement: Well, apparently these markers are non-toxic. You could attempt to consume those," HK said, examining one of his current implements of artistic creativity. What exactly was the problem with this meatbag (besides his meatbag status, obviously)?

And why was the meatbag stating that he was hungry? It wasn't as if HK was going to do anything constructive to change that status for him.

There were only two other people in the room when Wesker arrived in the arts and crafts room. He had occasionally dabbled in things that would have been considered 'artistic' when he had still been in school.

Mostly he was curious of there was anything useful to be had in the room, he doubted it, but then again, one never knew.

Wesker grabbed a green marker and a black marker and began to draw the beginnings of a humanoid reptile. It was a quiet blessing that this place did not have Hunters, though there was apparently a Tyrant.

Well, that was some kind of meal, Claire thought as she wandered into the Arts & Crafts room. This time, she did spot a familiar face, and zipped over to where Wesker was immediately.

"What are you drawing?" she asked curiously, peering over his shoulder. It looked...weird. Like one of those things Zach used to draw when they were younger, when he'd experiment with putting animal parts on human bodies.

"It's a humanoid reptile known as a Hunter, product of genetic manipulation..." Wesker had always been fond of the Hunters, they weren't as devastating as the Tyrants, but they were easier to produce and simple enough to train.

"Is this the kind of work you did? Genetic manipulation?" Claire asked. She knew he was a scientist, but he hadn't gone into detail about his work. Creating something that looked like this was a little disturbing -- a "hunter" could really only be built for one thing. Why had they been made to begin with?

Just... pick any room? That was new. Usopp didn't take much time to pick out the Arts & Crafts room, having already scouted the Library for books he'd like on a previous visit. Instead, he started work on the papier-mâché materials available, making little hollow spheres with openings at the top. Maybe he'd get to use them, maybe not. It was something to pass the time, at least. As each sphere started to dry, he started a new one, then returned to a previous one. This was how he'd started making his stars at home, before he'd been able to afford better materials. Took more force to burst, of course... His little 'assembly line' soon had ten spheres waiting in various degrees of completion. He painted the outside layers each colorful, water-soluble red as they dried.

While arts and crafts weren't exactly the tools Citan tended to utilize, it was best to explore every branch of opportunity when presented. And he had eaten, had no desire to go outside, and the library he knew to be useless.

So arts and crafts it was.

He was immediately drawn to a man working on...something. Interesting. What on earth was this? Whatever it was, it deserved investigation.

Smiling his bemused, scatter-brained smile, Citan wandered over and observed, still standing.

It took a moment for Usopp to realize he was being watched by someone other than the bemused nursing staff. He glanced up, blinking at the new arrival cluelessly. No names came to mind to fit the face, but his own nose and hand-made headband were probably enough to get attention from strangers. He smiled anyway, and gestured at one of the table's spare chairs.

"Hi, you can sit down if you want. There's still room." Usopp carefully moved some of his spread out spheres closer, not touching the damp bits in case of having them stick to him.

"Ah, I was just attracted by your little project here." Citan smiled and took a seat. There certainly were a variety of sorts in this place. But nothing surprised Citan, and hadn't since he was quite young.

"May I ask what it is you're doing?"

{ Waiting for Naminé, but free to pester in the meantime. .... Sorawhereareyou. ;_; )

The arts and crafts room. Kairi wasn’t entirely thrilled with this, but what could she do? Drawing was fun, at least.

Waving goodbye to the nurse who had escorted her, Kairi took a seat at an empty table and reached out for a piece of paper. Frowning, she stared down at the blank sheet, wondering what she would draw. Shrugging, she quickly reached out and grabbed at a random red crayon, and began just drawing whatever came to mind.

Sadly, all that came out on her paper was small hearts. Her mind was elsewhere.

Where was Sora? Kairi let out a sad sigh and closed her eyes. It felt like forever since she had seen him - they were to travel around tonight, at least. She would speak to him then.

The Arts and crafts room! Naminé was always happy to come here; this was the one room that soothed her. Perhaps it was the familiar scent of paper and crayons that she always smelled in here that calmed her down. Either way, she knew that she had no visitors; even in this world, she was all alone.

Well, the file did say that Luxord was her cousin. But he was nowhere to be found, and Naminé wanted to make more copies of her map now that Nami had updated it.

Of course, that thought flew from her mind as she saw Kairi sitting quietly by herself, looking rather... sad. It worried her, so Naminé went to her side at once.

"Hello, Kairi," She smiled, taking a seat next to the other girl. Kairi was drawing too, though she had nothing but hearts on her paper. It didn't seem to match with her Other's mood, though.

"... Is something wrong?"

The voice of her Nobody drew Kairi out of her silent reverie; her eyes snapping open seconds later. As her gaze fell upon the blonde haired girl, the copper haired princess couldn’t help but smile. “Hey, Naminé! Long time no talk, huh?”

The question about her well being made her smile falter only slightly, before it fell all together. “It’s nothing I can’t deal with. I mean … I … haven’t seen Sora or Riku in forever. It’s been days since I’ve seen Riku, I don’t even think he’s here anymore. And if he is … why would he avoid me on purpose? I’m one of his best friends, aren’t I? And I haven’t seen Sora in a while either, but at least I know he’s here. I guess I’m just … lonely.”

It was at this point when Kairi realized she was rambling, and suddenly her cheeks flushed as red as her hair. “Oh, sorry. I’m just talking now, aren’t I? I’m sorry to push this all on you so suddenly.”

Poor Kairi... Naminé could sympathize, in a way. She really had no right to miss Sora and Riku (it wasn't like they were her friends anyway...), but she did miss Soma. She hadn't seen him in ages... granted, she could ask Luxord to check on the boy's status, but Naminé had a feeling it was something she was better off not knowing.

"He wouldn't avoid you," She tried to comfort Kairi. That was not the Riku she knew, the one who worked so tirelessly for the sake of both his friends. "If he did make it back, I just know he's probably trying to find a way to come get the both of you."

It did seem strange though. She hadn't seen either of the Rikus around, so perhaps Kairi's hunch was correct...

"No, it's fine! If something is bothering you, you should talk to someone about it. I know... because I don't have a heart, I might not understand, but I do know what it's like to be lonely."

Orhime was feeling a lot lighter after her conversation with Rangiku. It was the first time in what felt like forever that she'd had the chance to sit down and sort through the whole tangled mess of things. No more pouting. She was going to stick to that.

She scanned the room for...what was she looking for? Maybe it would have been a good idea to get a description of him first. Maybe.

Well, there was only one thing that could be done! Orihime rolled up her sleeves and went for one of the arts and crafts tables. In a matter of seconds she'd scribbled 'Keman-san?' on a piece of coloured paper, a little question mark with arms and legs beneath it. Maybe if she just held it up for a while he would see it. Orihime glued a Popsicle stick to the back and did just that.

It took a while for the sign to work but Orihime was happy to see that it had. She smiled and nodded at the boy who'd approached her. "Keman-san! You can sit down if you want to."

Keman looked a little bit nervous. She couldn't blame him if he was still upset about what she'd said. She'd scolded him when he was only trying to help out. Orihime looked back down at the sign in her hands and toyed with the edge. "...I should apologize for what happened on the bulletin... I didn't mean to sound so blunt about it."
