Ichigo quickly went into the next hallway when he finally noticed that something was strange in the air. While Ichigo was never one to notice reiatsu, it was just there for crying out loud, he couldn't help noticing this. The pressure was heavy, but not unbearable, even if it gave Ichigo pause for a moment. It made him wonder if he was still able to tolerate reiatsu pressures even when his own was unaccessible. Maybe he was still giving it off, he would never be able to tell.
The pressure was familiar though. He had to think about it a moment before it clicked. The grinning man from the gate. Ichimaru Gin. Right. Renji had warned him about Gin... Did this mean Gin had all of his powers here? How? Was he working for the institute?
These questions seemed silly. If Aizen had created this world, of course someone who worked for him would be full powered.
Now there was no mistake. That strange feeling was really noticeable here. Keigo twitched and stopped for a moment, rubbing at his temples. Shit, he thought with mild frustration. Beforehand, he couldn't even sense those monsters that had attacked him approaching, why was he able to feel this pressure now? What kind of place was this?
Thinking of these things wasn't a good idea, given that he was supposed to be concentrating on something else entirely, but it wouldn't matter. Keigo looked up after finishing massaging his poor head to see something.. familiar.
Bright.. orange hair.
"..." Keigo stared. Was he hallucinating? That had to be it; he hadn't really slept at all the previous night.. but, hallucination or not, Keigo wasn't about to second-guess himself. Ignoring the sharp pain in his leg, Keigo started to run after what he had seen, light bouncing off the walls as he went.
And on they went. For a moment Clark thought he'd seen his roomie down the hall they'd just left, but he couldn't be sure, not with how dark it was even with the flashlights. Things seemed to be safe and all in the clear, so he had to agree that it was time to move on and get a better feel of this place.
Clark paused again once they entered a larger hall. There were what appeared to be stairs off in the distance, but his flashlight only went so far in the other direction before it seemed to be enveloped by the darkness. Clark hadn't even known there was a second floor, but maybe it'd be a good idea to check out the first floor before tackling the second. So far, so good though. No animals, no meteor-infected people causing problems. It was pretty quiet aside from that feel of an invisible weight in the air.
When Peter caught sight of the stairs, he remembered noticing them when he had been taken to breakfast that morning. He had put it out of his mind, but now that he was faced with them, he was somewhat tempted to go upstairs. That probably would be too rash, though. For some reason, he felt like things would be more dangerous on the second floor. It was probably just a silly notion, but there was no point in getting ahead of himself when he hardly knew where everything was on the first level
( ... )
So that feel in the air hadn't been just all in Clark's head?
"Maybe we shouldn't," Clark said. If the heavy feeling felt worse in that direction, then maybe it'd be a better idea to go around. Besides, they already had been there and Clark was more interested in finding out more about the rest of the places they hadn't been to yet. "I guess we should keep going."
They hadn't come across many doors that needed a bit of help opening, which made it that much easier for Clark. He'd always been able to distract people just long enough to "encourage" the locked doors open, but it'd be a lot different trying it in a dark, quiet (so far) place with an audience right behind him. The one plus, however, was that as far as he knew, there didn't seem to be any Kryptonite - it felt a bit weird to think about the meteor rocks with a name - around here. That seemed to point that maybe the Luthors didn't have anything to do with Landels, because that stuff always seemed to crop up around anything they had a hand in.
"So you want to go past it?" It was probably best to keep away - after all, that was pretty much what the feeling was screaming at him. Stay away. Besides, if he was going to test out how strong he was (or rather, what abilities he still had, since his strength had never been all that great to start with), he should probably do so on something that was a little more manageable.
He was still curious, which was why it was a good thing he had Clark there to dissuade him. He shifted his weight and ran a hand through his hair.
"I mean, I don't really know what's further down the hall, so..." It would require getting closer to the danger, but he was pretty sure it was nearer to the cafeteria, so if they just avoided it and continued down the main hallway, they would probably be able to explore further.
“A bad feeling?” Kairi turned her eyes towards Axel as she continued to walk down the hallway, the flashlight in her hand lighting the path in front of her. Frowning, she turned her head to look back down the darkened hall. “If you have a really bad feeling about things, we don’t have to go that way.”
She hadn’t heard what the radio had said at that time, or much rather, wasn’t paying attention, so she didn’t understand why Axel wanted to avoid the sun room. But either way, he seemed very against going through there at the moment.
“Really, I have no idea where we’re going anyway, so whatever you want to do is fine with me.” and she smiled.
"You never thought to grab a map? I mean, Naminé probably knows where everything like the back of her hand." It was her specialty after all, so it left Axel somewhat curious as to why the blonde didn't bother go give her other a map. Maybe she was too busy dying from Luxord's crushing grip to do anything else. It was a logical explanation.
“I didn’t know there were maps!” Kairi hissed, turning to glare at Axel for a moment before letting out a sigh. “But I guess I’ll ask Naminé for one next time I see her,” a pause, then a realization. “Why don’t you have one?” though, she knew she was going to go pick one up for herself. If the time ever came where she somehow got stuck out in the hallways alone, she’d feel a lot better knowing where she was going.
"You didn't?" By then Axel stopped, raising an eyebrow at Kairi all the while giving her a 'you've got to be kidding me' look. After all, the girl came only a few days after he did, and she's been running around with Sora almost the entire time. So that meant either the brunet was absent-minded, or he was just being stupid as well.
"Yeah, but I got it all up here," He grinned confidently, tapping his temple.
"I guess I'll make one for you too if you ask. Or beg. Preferably the latter, but I'm not picky."
Fox nodded at Lyta's orders and began to search, he checked the floor first, tapping it with his sword to check for hollow areas that might indicate a trap door. The floor was the most obvious place to hide an entrance to the basement.
He started at the base of the stairs heading up and began to search the area around it, it was best to be systematic about something like this to avoid later asking 'did we check there?' and having to recheck something.
This didn't look like a place to be keeping secret entrances; through plain old doors in a hallway, unless the 'overlord' type who ran this place was fond of hiding things right out in the open
( ... )
Lyta looked up at Envy, her hand on the wall. She hadn't thought of that, though she wasn't used to dealing with the sort of person the Head Doctor was.
"Hm." She bit at her lower lip and nodded. "You've got a point," she said. "There's a chapel upstairs, I think. I don't know about studies - unless you want to count the doctor offices." She glanced over at Fox, shrugging, waiting for him to add his agreement or disagreement.

With a deep scowl he headed down the hall.

There were people in the hallway. Lyta could feel them. As long as none of them bothered her, she didn't care.
"Alright. Look for a door or something... anything out of the ordinary, anything that could be hiding stairs down to the lower parts of the asylum.
