Nightshift 25: F-Block Hallway

Jul 15, 2007 22:45

[From here.]Rukia rounded the corner without bothering to look around. She stopped at the end of the F11-F20 hallway; hopefully Vice Captain Hinamori would come out of her room soon, with Renji's katana in hand. And then Rukia would go straight to see Renji ( Read more... )

Dinner had been good, delicious, actually, but Jean had had more important things to worry about. Tonight she was to meet up with Hitsugaya-taicho once more, and maybe they'd get something done with little to no danger. Hopefully.

Armed with her pens and flashlight, she left her room as soon as the doors unlocked, making her way to M23. She really hoped they could get weapons tonight. Pens didn't seem like they'd do...

Two people currently, one of them somewhat familiar and the other entirely so. But there wasn't time to re-connect with Rukia or meet potential allies. River almost smiled at herself when the thought of Sasuke-kun's displeasure.

And as she moved among them, the most they would see would be a wisp of hair. Perhaps they would think it a phantom and nothing more.

Tonight, feeding wasn't on the agenda, but after that... odd and somewhat foolish exchange with his victim, Claire, he had to see. He had to see her. Not for any worry over her health (he hadn't hurt her), her emotion well being (she definitely hadn't seemed scared), or for any sense of guilt (that vampire board post still made him laugh), but she had made it clear - in a roundabout fashion nonetheless - that the marks were gone. Fang marks, no matter how gentle a vampire had been, didn't disappear over the course of one night.

He had to see.

Lurking around a designated area for females was questionable no matter who he was, or what he was doing, but so far he had been all too successful in remaining unseen while he traveled. Who was going to spot him in the shadows anyway? He was a vampire for god's sake.

Who knew where the hell she was, but all he needed was just a glimpse, maybe. Then he could put his burgeoning curiosity to rest.

[Plz be to not interrupting, meeting with Miku. Also to Alfons-mun and Byakko-mun, if you're ( ... )

Miku had almost made it outside to the big corridor between the Male and Female blocks. She breathed a sigh of relief - she hadn't gotten dizzy, sensed something unnatural or gotten sick (again). She still looked a little weak, and her breath shuddered in her chest.

Unfortunately, Miku had a habit of hoping too soon and tumbled out the door way, losing her balance and her flashlight as it skidded across the floor. "O-ow," she hissed and looked curiously at the pair of slippers before her eyes.

Oh no...

The sound of a body thumping against the doorframe startled him, he was embarrassed to admit.

It caught him off guard just enough that he didn't spring away as he should have - who knew what the hell was coming out of there!? - but the flashlight that went skittering along the floor, casting dizzying arrays of light, had dropped from an all too human hand.

What came next was a girl, one that went crashing to the ground at his feet.

This was not Claire. This is was a very sick looking Hinasaki Miku.

"Ano..." He returned to his native tongue without thinking.

Miku made a little noise and pulled herself up to her knees. Her eyes were trying to adjust to the half-light provided by her flashlight. The voice above her was familiar, a surprised tenor.

"Ai--Aidou-kun?" she murmured and squinted. Seeing was impossible without her flashlight, but she was almost pretty sure that it was him. "I.. I'm fine." Miku told him quietly, starting to stand. She needed to get to Byakko and Alfons.

As soon as the doors clicked unlocked, Lust was in the hallway, armed and swinging her flashlight beam across the hallway. She needed to make it to the men's block, and discover just what the Colonel had told Greed.

Snarling under her breath, the former homunculus headed off towards the hallway that connected the two wings.

(( From here.Momo arrived at the designated meeting spot for Rukia and Signum to find the other shinigami already there. Rukia looked thoroughly frazzled, and it didn't take a genius to know what was causing it. The vice captain was worried about Renji, too, but she hoped Rukia would follow through with her mission. Renji would never forgive himself if his situation caused Rukia to disobey orders ( ... )

[[From F21-F30 Hall]]

Signum stalked into the connecting hall with a slightly-too-confident air that had apparently gone undiminished by her encounter with the incorporeal whatever from last night, frying pans held easily at her side in a humorous pantomime of a grip more appropriate to a real weapon.

"Reporting for duty, captain." She bowed to Momo, face straight save for an amused glimmer in her eye.

Momo quirked an eyebrow at Signum and then quickly put a hand to her mouth to stifle the laughter that burst from her. Her shoulders shook for a moment as she regained control and grinned at the knight.

"Let's go," she said, wiping away a tear. With a shake of her head at the silliness of her friend, the shinigami headed to meet Histugaya.

(( Moving here.))

"Vice Captain." Rukia bowed when the other shinigami approached. She reached out for the offered katana, barely stopping herself from pulling back when Hinamori laid a hand on her cheek.

The Vice Captain's words let her unable to reply; she simply nodded as the two women left. Don't press him for information tonight. What was that supposed to mean? Did Hinamori know something Rukia didn't? She was acting like she knew Renji better than...

As Rukia continued quickly on her way, she thought that perhaps Hinamori did know Renji better... After all, Rukia hadn't seen him much in the past 40 years. She tried to push that thought away; feeling sorry for herself and dwelling on the past wasn't going to help any of them right now.
