Day 25: Breakfast

Jun 24, 2007 15:10

Kuja was, in fact, quite surprised to suddenly find himself in bed. An odd turn of events, as he previously remembered investigating the contents of a closet. If the genome hadn't known any better, he would have thought he hadn't even left the room. However, the items he was still holding obviously proved such thoughts untrue; he had left his room ( Read more... )

Recluse was almost... cheerful this morning. Not that most would be able to tell, he still scowled as much as he ever did. But he was fighting down a smirk over one event of the nightshift in particular.

Maiming that idiot had been so restorative. Knowing this place, the injuries would not be fatal, as long as the other patient survived the night. But in any other situation, that stab wound to the gut would have condemned him to a slow, agonizing death.

Jack was confused to find himself lying in bed, wounds treated and every item restored to its previous state. While he could understand his injuries being wrapped professionally, he had to hand it to this place- the furniture he had destroyed was as it had been and he had a CLEAN t-shirt on. Freaky ( ... )

The smirk could no longer be contained. Recluse stared up at the prey man with cold red eyes. "Of course not. And how is your chest wound this morning?"

Jack ignored everything from the other man's mouth and eased into a seat. As much as he could down play the other injuries (as they were below the clothing), he couldn't exactly hide the sling for his collarbone. Still, he could try and pretend it wasn't THAT big of a deal. Taking a sip of his juice, Jack continued, smirking the whole time. "I was hoping there might be some coffee or beer here this mornin'. But I guess I hope too much, eh, big guy?"

Only Jack Horner would want beer in the morning. But at least before, at the OTHER "prison-masquerading-as-something-less-sinister" setup, he had been able to roll out of bed and open up a bottle. He hated to admit it, but he kind of missed Golden Boughs when compared with this place...

The man's face contorted into a scowl as the intercom sounded. A gradually calming expression, eyes still shut, grew a smirk as its host heeded a blunder in the Head Doctor's chatter.

Good reputation my ass...

"Ugh," he couldn't help groaning, discontent and tossing the sheets off his body. He shielded his gaze from the beam on the ceiling like every other morning, swiftly moving up from the bed. The powers that be had perfect timing, didn't they? In the middle of a pleasant expedition with a newfound ally, and as though Martin Landel himself had snapped his fingers, he'd awoken again in M38. Dean glanced impartially at Kasady prior to opening the closet and inspecting the overcoat's pockets. Pain-killers: check. Butter knives: check. Although he had to take one out and look at it quizzically, wondering what the hell had gotten into him, why he'd stolen these things. Use them with brute force, of course. The utensils were blunt, but that didn't necessarily mean they weren't weapons of their own cluster. Shoving it into someone's gut ( ... )

Max was annoyed. Very, very annoyed. For one thing, she felt as if she'd wasted an entire night. She'd learned almost nothing about this place and had convinced herself that whatever tales she'd heard about the day before about the terrors that lurked were just the other patients' ways of pulling newcomers legs. She'd certainly seen nothing of the sort. All she and Susan had come across were a bunch of clearly unstable - or at the very least, very, very strange - patients, and an ancient filing room that looked as if it hadn't been touched in ages, with a file full of made-up information on her. Apparently her 'husband' was a real ass, since he considered this the best place to put her to 'fix' her psychosis. Whenever she found who was running this place, she'd show them what she thought about their senses of humor ( ... )

Dean directed a stern stare on... an attractive female. Austerity melted away as the tray was slapped beside him. Mouth full, he stopped gnawing on the rations as he listened, looked straight ahead for a second, and then back at the woman.

OK, she obviously had the wrong person. For a minute there, it seemed the event of a past bang's discovering him was due to unravel. Good thing his name (and several aliases) wasn't Alec, or he'd have been the bearer of bad news in saying he couldn't remember her face. Body, though...?

A small smile found a means of display as he chewed some more.

"Sorry?" The word came out, slightly muffled by food.

"For what? What have you done this time?" she retorted, propping her hands on her hips and gazing down at him in exasperation. "I should have known you'd turn up. Things go all screwy and you're inevitably close by. What's going on?"

It was again that Xemnas awoke within his room, a reoccurring incidence once the night had finished, the darkness had made place for light. Though perhaps it wasn't the kind of light that one should be content to be part of. This light was nothing but an illusion it seemed, an illusion to hide the darkness beyond. His Somebody - Xehanort - had always sought the Darkness, but even the Darkness lurking here was one not familiar. It was different. If both the light and darkness are different, then what does that make the in-between? What does that make the beings that do not exist, that are merely an echo, a whisper of what they previously were? Ghosts given flesh, yet even their very being was an uncertainty ( ... )

What a night. Penelo was almost relieved when she woke up, because that meant she was safe... for the moment. Well, safe was a relative term, but she obviously preferred daytime in Landels compared to nighttime. Anytime monsters weren't wandering around was a good sign.

Aside from some minor scrapes from climbing up that brick wall, Penelo found herself to be in good health, which was great considering how many monsters she had ran into the night before. And to think, battling monsters was something she should have been used to... but not like this.

Well, it was great to be alive, so Penelo happily allowed herself to be escorted to the cafeteria, where she quickly got her breakfast (she would never get used to this weird foreign food; it was too greasy or too salty or too... ugh) and scanned the room for a seat ( ... )

Orange eyes looked up to the source of the interruption, taking the time to briefly study the young girl that had appeared before him. Xemnas recognized her as one of the unfortunate people the triangle-headed abomination had gone after, but the recognition was seemingly mutual. However, the display of concern had been unexpected.

The Nobody paused eating his meal. There was no gain in hiding the most obvious of matters, thus he answered;

"Ah, yes. It would appear I am indeed the one you are referring to." The words were spoken slowly and calmly, tone passive.

"I have gotten away unharmed. How about you? Have you gotten away unscratched?" Perhaps the Nobody was merely attempting conversation, perhaps he wanted to see if this girl knew more about the creature and its capabilities, or perhaps it was a combination of both.

He was so calm about the whole thing... Penelo had to admire that. She nodded at his statement, taking this as a good sign that he didn't mind the company. At least, this man didn't look like he did. She took a seat next to him and prodded at her meal as she spoke.

"Yeah, we did. I'm just glad everyone made it out in one piece," Penelo grinned. "I hope you didn't go into the Sun Room after that... but it doesn't seem like you did." Penelo couldn't believe that there were so many monsters in one area... and she didn't run into any the night before. Maybe when they did come out, the monsters came in swarms.

"Oh, uh, my name is Penelo. It's nice to meet you," The dancer introduced herself, holding out a hand.

Albel had never reached the door he was aiming to open. Instead, he found his crimson eyes staring at the ceiling, blinking the blight light away. The captain wasn't very pleased that maggot of a Head-Doctor had decided to end it all by ending the night, but at least he got something done. Besides, he had killed one of that fool's toys, which was enough satisfaction for the Wicked One to thrive on until some worm started nagging him.

Quickly hiding his new supply of sharp objects, he was again escorted to the cafeteria by the ever-so-cheerful wench. After he had piled some food on his plate, he moved to one of the more secluded seats at the corner. With any luck, none of the annoying fools within this dump would notice him. For his doing, he was in a fairly good mood. Ignorant scum ruining it was the last thing he (or perhaps the patient in question) needed.

Naoya was extremely disappointed when he woke up that morning. Not so much in the fact that morning had come so soon, but moreso that he had gotten absolutely nothing done. How could he have fallen asleep? He had swore to himself that he would look for his brother and the second he had the chance, he couldn't? Had there been something in his food?

The young man stared at the floor as his nurse ushered him along, collecting food as they went.

"Come, Mr. Patterson! You need to eat!" Naoya snapped out of his thoughts as the woman placed the tray at a table with another, crimson eyed patient. The man was lean and slightly androgynous, but that mattered little with how fierce he looked-- and more importantly, disgruntled. Naoya didn't think it was such a good idea to just seat himself uninvited...

"Don't be so shy-" She turned to the other man. "Jonathan, this is James. Now you two play nice!" Without another word the nurse motioned for Naoya to sit down and rather than be touched, he reluctantly complied.

So much for a peaceful breakfast. So far no one had bothered him, but this particular wench had decided to do something about it, a fact that didn't please Albel in the slightest.

And again that stupid name...

"Hmph." he scoffed, glaring at the annoying nurse before she finally left. Seriously, someone should stab these women.

His vermilion gaze shifted to the maggot she had left behind, briefly studying him before returning his attention to his food. He wasn't one of the most social of people, after all.

Naoya cringed as the nurse left, his temporary breakfast companion glaring after her with roiling thoughts of violence. Granted, the young man could not hear the entire train of thought (some portions merely trailing off into what sounded like a mumble of thoughts and emotions), but Naoya got the gist of what 'Jonathan' was thinking.

He wasn't quite sure that stabbing the nurses was a good idea either. What had he gotten himself into?

Fighting back the urge to stiffen as 'Jonathan' momentarily turned his gaze to him, Naoya wordlessly studied his food as he struggled to think. He had to ask around for his brother (anyone could have seen him), but... Naoya gathered up his courage. If this man was going to attack him it was inevitable, but if he could garner more information on the possible whereabouts of his brother in the meantime then the pain would be worth it.

"Excuse me..."

HK, as per usual, pestered his nurse all the way to the cafeteria. This time, it was about what should be done with lecherous meatbags that tried to threaten him with disgusting things. He didn't name any names, of course, but he still made sure his point got across. Which meant he was almost literally pushed down into his seat with a tray of food and left to himself. All I was saying was that meatbags who think those extraneous parts are so amusing should have them removed with a soldering iron! Is that so unreasonable?

Ugh, food. His roommate had managed to remind him that his body now needed this stuff for proper function. Since he hadn't managed to escape last night, he supposed he might have to be patient and wait so he could strike with maximum effect. Oh, he hated having to wait to kill things.
