It was morning ... and the nurses were back. Bella didn't know what to think as she was led down the hallway and towards the Sun Room, looking at the nurse who strolled by her side out of the corner of her eye. Where the hell had she come from? Had she missed something? She had to have, considering she was now wearing her old uniform (if you could call it that.) and was being led around by a cheerful nurse lady ( ... )

sorry for the late, bb! the weekend ate me ;_; loyalrose December 5 2011, 14:25:53 UTC
Rose had wandered into the Sunroom to soak up a bit of the sun, needing it more today than ever. Impatience and frustration crawled under her skin, feeling trapped and confined once more after the taste of reality they'd all gotten last night. Forced back into a human body today...

It was disheartening, to say the least.

She was wandering past the bulletin board when she heard someone mumble something near by and glanced over to see a girl she'd met before. She searched her memory for the right name and came up with it with a smile as she stepped up behind the girl silently.

"Anything interesting on there this morning?" she asked with a wry smile, peering over Bella's shoulder.

At the sound of a familiar voice, Bella turned and looked at Rose, blinking in surprise before giving the woman a smile and a shrug of her shoulders, turning her eyes once again back to the bulletin board in front of her. "Hmm, nothing really. Just things I don't understand."

And no notice from Edward. She was sure he was okay. He had to be.

Turning on her heels, the teenager looked up at Rose with a curious smile. "How was your night? Hopefully nothing tried to ... you know. Eat you or something equally as unpleasant."

"Plenty of things, actually," Rose answered with a wry quirk of her lips, tucking her hands in the pockets of her robe she'd donned over the pajamas they'd left them in for the day. Odd, that.

"The hallways seemed filled with them last night, but that's alright, I've seen worse." She cast Bella a curious look, cocking her head to the side curiously. "How about you? Was your night alright?"

If nothing else, breakfast had been pleasant! The food delicious, the company delightful.... if only he were dressed better! Well, he supposed he should simply count his blessings. And at night...well, there were no 'nurses' at night to tell him what to do and what not to do. He'd wear what he liked.

Clinging to these somewhat buoying thoughts, trying to banish the sting of failing last night again, Tolten gladly allowed the sweet voiced woman at his elbow to take him to the Sun Room. Odd they called it that, with no windows save the one in the ceiling. What a counter-productive design....

He was going to make up last night's failure Locke, he went on thinking to himself. He had made a vow, and it had been ripped from him right before the moment of delivering. They had been at the door. After so much work and everything else and they had been snatched back from the very door they had soughtOh, and perhaps he ought ask about the creatures on the roof. He took a seat by the bulletin, humming softly as he often did, and ( ... )

Seishin was uncertain what to think of the girl he had met during breakfast. That look she had given him during the course of their conversation didn't quite make her seem like a pleasant girl, in any case. Then again, it wasn't his place to judge, was it?

The nurse returned, praising him for eating his breakfast as she escorted the former priest into the Sun room. Seishin offered a polite smile in return as they walked into the Sun room. He had been about to excuse himself to find a seat, yet the nurse already had something else in mind.

"Hold on, why don't you keep Mr. Edwards here company?" she suggested, offering him a reassuring smile before leaving the novelist with a blond-haired man. He had to wonder if this was going to be a pattern, making him sit with strangers, as though his own judgment on such simple things couldn't be trusted.

Perhaps it couldn't, in a way.

"My apologies," he said quietly as he remained standing, "I didn't mean to disturb you."

This time, Tolten had a bit of preparation before he found himself in conversation with anyone. The nurse woman's voice brought him up from his note. This wasn't anything that had happened before, and he wondered if it were common under the rule of the medical staff.

Still, the other man looked rather pleasant and unassuming. And his quiet voice reminded the young king of Sarah. Tolten offered a smile and rested his journal in his lap. He wasn't exactly busy, or using much of his concentration.

"You aren't disturbing me," he assured. "I was simply inquiring on the notice board about a creature I encountered last night."

Who knew, perhaps this other man could offer some insight! People were, on the whole, nice and helpful.

The man didn't seem to mind, thankfully. The nurse's insistence was not something Seishin could have helped, in any case. At least this appeared to be a pleasant young man, from what the former priest could tell by mere appearances. He guessed it was fine to take a seat, then. He sat down in an armchair across the other man, folding his hands in his lap.

"There were certainly a large number of creatures around last night, were there not?" he answered, slightly frowning in concern. "I hope this creature hasn't been too much trouble for you?"

Lana hated to leave Ema behind, even when she was just going across the Sun Room, but she'd feel better if she had something to distract her, and Lana would admit she could use some of that herself.

She still didn't know what had really happened last night, on a scale larger than personal tragedies. That was, perhaps, the heart of how this place worked; keep everyone distracted by their own troubles, parceling out hope and suffering in unequal but sufficiently-balanced portions. That had stayed the same, despite the changes in management.

But one thing was clear from the first message she saw on the board -- dozens of patients had had a decidedly unusual evening, even by the Institute's standards. Hmm.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to ask a few questions of her own. See what turned up. She penned a few notes, tacked them up almost carelessly, and slipped off to an area where she could see the board and Ema but not be hovering in either's vicinity.

Gumshoe opened his eyes and ground his teeth together, sitting bolt upright with his fists clenched at his sides. And after all of the effort it had taken him to keep himself from getting sick! He raked his fingers back through his hair and let out a deep, frustrated sigh. Just their luck. The night that other "patients" had needed their help more than ever, and they hadn't had the chance to offer it! Not to mention the fact his mind was still reeling from what that girl had said.

"Something happened earlier tonight to release the binds on our powers. They put up a force field..."A force field! That was what that mysterious pink glow had been? But force fields were the kinds of things you saw in those futuristic sci-fi movies! If Tear had been right, how did the General and his crew get their hands on the technology that was needed for it? Oh man! He would have loved to know how it worked ( ... )

Listen, when there was that much blood at a crime scene, nine times out of ten there had to have been a murder. He hoped last night had been the exception, he really did! Hopefully the monsters had taken the brunt of it. But at the same time, he knew it wasn't wise of him to keep that hope alive. Not when experience told him otherwise ( ... )

A small mechanical object shorts out, as such things do. Fortunes rise and fall. But all of this is in the past, albeit the recent past. Right now, uniformed flunkies are washing breakfast dishes in a peaceful, almost placid, manner.

Meanwhile, a young girl is attempting to surreptitiously alter a T-shirt with a pen cap without attracting undue attention. This young girl's name is Rose, and she has had a pleasant morning so far. This is the first day she has had a good, institutionally-prepared, breakfast in a long time, and she needed no prompting to eat it. (Home cooking was less of an appealing prospect to her and all of her chums, albeit for differing reasons in each case.)

The smile on this T-shirt, however, was an offense against nature. No one who wasn't an utter idiot would go around with such a dopey grin. So she was peeling away flecks of paint, narrowing the eyes and excising the mouth bit by bit.

[From here]

Somehow, Rainbow Dash was coaxed into the wheelchair. The woman (a nurse, apparently) wouldn't let her walk on all fours, and with how hard it was to balance on two for longer than a few seconds at a time, she did need it, much as she hated to admit it. But that didn't mean she had to be happy about it. Rainbow shifted awkwardly in the seat as the nurse rolled her down the hall, trying to compensate for the lack of a tail under her rump. And the lack of wings on her back. "Ugh!" Rainbow groaned, shifting roughly and crossing her front legs (arms, whatever). "Are we almost there? You could be pushing this thing at least 20% faster ( ... )

Rose smiled sweetly back at the nurse. They couldn't exactly take her shirt away here and now, and she had lots of arguments about individual expression to throw into the works.

Besides, she'd done enough. It now smirked, with narrow eyes, rather than smiling fatuously. 'Corrie', who was as likely to be named that as she was to be named Lisa, was attempting to walk, with about as much success as a toddler, or a drunken woman in four-inch spike heels.

"Discord? Your dedication to your friends is admirable, but you won't find them here." Rose stood up, and extended a hand to the girl. "That is, it's highly unlikely."

"Oh yeah? Says who?" Rainbow grunted as she pushed herself up on her elblows and rubbed her nose with the back of her hoof hand (dang it). The muscles in her back twinged, wanting to flap wings that weren't there.

"I just saw them a second before turning into... whatever it is Discord turned me into! They gotta be around somewhere!" At least, that's what Rainbow wanted to believe. She didn't want to listen to the little nagging voice in her head that told her Discord could've spread the six of them out all over Equestria for all she knew right now.

The conversation at breakfast was enough to leave him feeling uncertain, though it was something of a relief, he supposed, that Kurogane understood. Yuuhi was to blame, as usual, but at least they were both agreed in going after Sakura. Still, there was a wall in front of them. How to get to her? How to reach the doctor again? Problems they'd been trying to answer for some time.

He made his way to the Sun room, glancing over the bulletin for any new information. Maybe if he could get in touch with the right people, their goal would be one step closer. He picked up a pen and started flipping through notes.

There was at least one thing that was better about this place posing as a real mental institute rather than a military camp, and that was that they actually actively looked after your wounds when you were hurt. Shiina felt at ease knowing that Shou would be attended to by the staff. Whatever reservations she had against trusting older people could be put aside if they were going to make themselves useful and actually do their job.

Moving on the the Sun Room after breakfast, Shiina took Harvey's advice from the day before to heart and moved to start scouring the bulletin for clues to last night's madness. One particular note mentioned the giant bird from the grounds and Shiina almost jerked away from the memory of it. Yes, she knew exactly what the man was talking about. Taking up a pen of her own, she moved hastily to respond and accidentally bumping into a man beside her in the process ( ... )

It wasn't unusual for the bulletin to be crowded or for more than one person to be perusing the notes, so when the young woman stepped up beside him and began looking intently through the papers, he gave her a cursory glance and left an easy smile on his lips. It wasn't until the woman startled and began writing with such enthusiasm that she bumped him that he finally spoke to her.

"No harm done," he shook his head, waving off the apology. "Is everything alright? I hope you didn't find any upsetting news. It's kind of hard to know what to expect to find on the bulletin some days."

The man she ran into had a very distinctive eyepatch that Shiina politely managed to keep from staring at. He at least didn't seem upset by her clumsiness, which was one less worry to dwell on. The note, however, still had her on edge.

"It's just..." Shiina licked her dry lips. Her eyes darted to the board then back up at the blond man. Her smiled strained. "I'm just now starting to realize exactly how dangerous this place is. I never would have guessed that the monsters could be real and I guess it just struck me that what I saw last night wasn't a dream."

It was pretty disturbing for a relatively normal (or as normal as any clone could be) girl to wake up one day to a institute of terrors in an unknown country that seemed so very far, far away from her own. But all things considered, Shiina thought she was taking the transition pretty darn well.
