Being reunited with Luke left Anise in a fairly good mood, even if Landel seemed to be actively trying to ruin it by being obnoxious on the intercom. She did wonder a little about what he said about the doctors. Where was Dr. Yumeno this whole time? She hoped he was okay.

When she entered the Sun Room, Anise made a beeline for the bulletin, where she immediately found a note from Guy. He probably didn't need to be told she was okay when they'd been together until the end of last night, but she left a note in response, just to keep communication going. Tear probably appreciated it, too. As for Natalia... well, Anise could only hope she'd turn up soon.

Once she was done with that, she started reading the other notes on the board. It looked like there were some people who had some insider info about what really happened last night, but a lot of their wording was vague. Anise tilted her head and scratched her cheek as she read the notes over a couple more times, trying to understand them as best she could.

Ilia yawned and stretched as she left behind the cafeteria for the Sun Room. She had woken early with enough time to greet Lana with a good morning, but gotten to breakfast a bit late that day as she worked out the aches in her muscles that had returned after last night's rousing activities. She really hadn't expected quite so much work in just one night, but with kids as active as Rose and Gamzee it was necessary to keep up ( ... )

The sound of her own name broke Anise's concentration, and the girl snapped her head around to see a familiar face just next to her. She blinked a few times, then broke into a big smile.

"Ilia, hey!" It had been a while since they last talked face-to-face, though they'd fortunately kept in touch over the bulletin well enough that neither of them needed to worry too much about the other. "I've been pretty good! I mean, as good as I can be with you-know-who being back and all." She glanced pointedly upwards at an intercom speaker, a sour look briefly crossing her face.

"What about you? What've you been up to?" she asked, her expression quickly shifting into a friendly grin.

Anise's smile was a welcoming sight. She wasn't going to let the return of the old regime get her down. "He made it plain he wasn't gone forever." Ilia shook her head and held up her arms. "Can't say I'll miss the General overly much, but I will miss those uniforms ( ... )

It was almost pleasant. Waking to this other side of the institute, wearing clothing with a smiley face, of all things, was a far cry from everything Leanne had experienced over the past two days.

A cheerful voice on the intercom, nurses instead of soldiers, real food (maybe it was her own less than ideal cooking or the two days with pink gruel, but she could have sworn that breakfast was one of the best she'd ever had), so this was what it was like without the military breathing down their necks. Still organized to the point of frustration, but calmer somehow, more like the place she'd grown up in. It could have been enough to lure her into a false sense of security, were it not for the fact that she was still effectively a prisoner ( ... )

There was a bit to think about from that, but this was only a movement, and yet a movement forward. She had spoken to Badou, and Leanne had promised to meet. With that in motion, there was only the follow through. If she could show a better side of herself than she had to the man. Her steps came surer than they did the shift prior; she consciously inhaled to exhale tension. There was nothing to be done about the fact of the night before. If she held onto it, the only thing she would be doing was sabotaging herself. And breaking promises all the same.

Luckily a distraction and a focus was present before Renamon even came into the room. Leanne was easily spotted, and the Digimon made her way to the other girl, pausing briefly to eye the bulletin board. Nothing of need to consider, and so she continued along to the other, stopping in front of her. "Leanne," she gave, inclining her head. "Thank you for meeting with me."

"Renamon!" Leanne grinned, rising to her feet as soon as she spotted the other girl. "It's good to see you again!" she said lightly, waving away her thanks. No need for that. A friendly face was probably just what she needed that day, to keep from thinking too much on things that were better left forgotten.

Dropping back down on the chair, she nodded toward another one, hoping Renamon would take a seat as well. "So what's going on?" she finally blurted out, no longer able to keep all of her questions in. "You said nothing was wrong, right?"

She really was curious and couldn't even begin to deny it.

The girl's enthusiasm was nearly catching, and after the night and morning, it was something to be grateful for. The Digimon nodded again, giving a quick smile in return. "It's good to see you as well," she offered in return. "You look well."

Well enough, at the least. Which meant that Leanne had been settling in well enough. Renamon was curious on what the girl had been doing in the days since she had seen her, but first things first. Renamon had a promise to state her fulfillment of. "Nothing's wrong, no. I actually succeeded in what I set out to do for you." She paused, then smiled lightly. "I have a handgun and an extra clip for you."

[Awaiting a certain Evangelion pilot.]It had been nice to touch base with Shiina--she seemed like a strong girl, and someone Tsubaki would be happy to be friends with. To be honest, it had been nice just to assuage her fears about one less person. That was the nice thing about breakfast and lunch: if she looked hard enough, she usually spotted her friends and acquaintances eventually. And that morning she had glimpsed Kurogane and Fai together, which was… probably a good thing. They were talking, so that was something ( ... )

Consciousness came in a fleeting way; the way of smoke and mirrors too shallow for any meaning. There was a thickness to her mind, a sluggishness to her limbs that spoke of too much rest. Or too much medicated rest. They were one in the same, had been the same too many times to count. And here, it continued. The simple act of time missed ( ... )

Given the Institute’s nature, Tsubaki was rather used to approaching people and having people approach her in turn. A stranger was just as welcome as a friend. Maybe they needed something?

She smiled down at the smaller girl, but she wasn’t certain she could place the face despite her best efforts. Like Rapunzel, the girl had a bit of a tired cast to her, another common occurrence within the hospital, unfortunately enough. And the question… That was ominous. Tsubaki hoped she wasn’t reading too much into it.

“Oh, hello. Um, it’s Wednesday, I believe?”

There was lightness to the other's voice, recognized as friendliness, and just as easily shifted aside. She had answered Ayanami's question, perfectly and precisely, and it was not in Rei to doubt like this. Wednesday. Three days gone. Rei stared openly, nothing shown but what was lacking in the expression. Three days gone.

Were the other pilots still here? She knew well how easily people vanished and appeared in this place. None were in this room, but that meant nothing in the end, and allowed for other possibilities. She could not know without a perfect confirmation, of others as well as herself, and she was currently only ignoring the fine aspect of what was learned. She was missing three days. And she knew not what was confined in that timeframe.

She swallowed once, then bowed her head in a kind of thanks.

Two factors aggravated the Oracle Knight more easily than any other, more so if the source came from herself. To Tear's great embarrassment, she held the burden of both, and when she awoke, the girl knew she had fallen into her worst nightmare. One did not fail to complete their primary objective without consequences. One felt such consequences quite poignantly when they could not get beyond their meeting point ( ... )

Before Guy had even settled properly into the chair that he had picked out, he found that he had a certain someone rushing up to him almost urgently. Guy glanced up to take in Tear's concerned expression as his own mimicked it almost immediately.

He didn't know if something had happened last night, with Luke, but if it turned out that either Tear or Luke had gone through something unpleasant because Guy had left them to their own devices, then he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. He wasn't Luke's babysitter anymore and he had never been Tear's -- generally, the girl could take care of herself perfectly well -- but that didn't stop Guy's protective instincts from kicking in during a time like this.

"Of course I do, Tear," he said, quickly motioning to the armchair next to his. With the space between the two pieces of furniture, his phobia wasn't likely to be triggered. "What happened?"

For a fleeting instance, Tear wondered if Guy had another commitment. It wouldn't be an unusual case; from what she had observed, everyone (including the soldier) made their business appointments during the day. Given the nature of her approach, however, Tear wasn't quite willing to let the topic go for more than 24 hours. Hopefully, the young man would have some time for her later today, if not at this moment.

When Guy gestured to the seat, she gave an inaudible sigh and moved to sit. She took care not to appear alarmed or panicked. Nothing terrible had happened on their end, after all, but sometimes, her determination often crossed a line. Consideration was needed.

"Thank you," said Tear. "First of all, Luke and I are all right. We managed to keep our group safe last night." She paused for a second to gather her thoughts. "But I've been concerned about today. Landel is back in control, correct?"

It seemed that Tear had guessed at what his mind would have immediately jumped to, since her first order of business was to let him know that nothing bad had happened to her and Luke last night. She didn't offer any more details than that, though, which meant that Guy would have to go back to it and ask questions wonce her original issue had been resolved ( ... )

There was another presence in the room, as telling as the undercurrent of taint. Nigredo turned his head and found violet eyes staring back, and a part of him paused. Felt the touch of lips and wondered if he was still dreaming. Harsher movements registered in his system, but the boy merely smiled as he fell back into the other's lap. Without another word, he pressed his cheek to Albedo's stomach and exhaled.

If there existed something to say, it wouldn't be the events of last night. That was held to the background, left for a more lucid time. Instead, Nigredo would offer something close to a renewal. A beginning.

{Good morning,} he sent, still smiling.

And the response to Albedo's act? His near declaration of possessiveness and protectiveness both? He expected complaints, whining, annoyance--eyes in slits and emotions behind a screen. For that was Nigredo, and that was what had come before. Still, Albedo did it, for the simple fact that he wanted to. Like much else in his history, past, present, and future, Albedo moved to planning and whims both, weight even on both scales.

And yet, here, in response to a whim, there existed reciprocation. The light press of Nigredo's head into his stomach, a smile on the youngest's lips. Albedo would be forgiven for his shock, for the beat of delay while he stared downward.

...The moment passed, and Albedo only draped an arm over his brother's stomach, mindful of the wound on Nigredo's chest. He wouldn't have tested, this would have graced enough, but he hadn't been rejected. Not yet. "Good morning," he murmured lightly. "How are you feeling?"
