For the first time in a very long while, Venom did not have a nightmare. That wasn't to say he'd dreamt of anything pleasant--or anything at all, really. Only that there failed to be any lurking horrors in the back of his mind when exhaustion forcefully dragged him into unconsciousness. Still, their absence was notable, at least to him. It was... refreshing.

And, as if on cue, the rest of the universe decided it would not have the assassin's stress levels at anywhere lower than 90%.

The first sign that something was amiss was the hand attempting to shake him awake, to which he predictably responded with by raising a hand to shove the one on him away (and promptly dropping it the moment doing so shot a burst of dull pain from his shoulder down his spine). The second was-- Ugh, god no, not that voice... "Mr. Lant? Mr. Lant, please. I've let you sleep in for as long as I could, but you can't stay in here all day."

"You...The nurse paused in response, like she wasn't sure whether his tired tone meant he was speaking about her or just ( ... )

so much tl;dr 1/2 why chippforprez December 2 2011, 23:08:41 UTC
After going through so much hell last night, it was no surprise that Chipp spent most of the morning sleeping, so tired and exhausted that he failed to rouse at the start of the morning, despite an intercom post and the attempts of several nurses. It was only at the end of breakfast hours did Chipp even approach a state where he could be awakened, much to the relief of the nurse who finally did manage the task.

"Oh thank goodness, Mr. Hanberger, we almost thought you died on us," The nurse chuckled, her humor inappropriately timed as Chipp realized that a nurse was talking to him and he was wrapped in bandages, which meant he was at a hospital of some sort (one that had rooms that looked exactly like the room at the Institute they caged him in, what a coincidence). And this did not bode well for the ninja as he instantly stiffened, a wave of disgust going over him as he realized he was in a hospital and that meant he likely being treated with drugs and nope, he was done here. Chipp got as far as aggressively trying to throw the ( ... )

"I said shut up! Stop calling me that! My name is Chipp Zanuff!" He still had enough energy to complain, though his words sounded more annoyed then angry due to the sheer lack of energy to care. But he had to at least figure out where Venom was. Was he still here too? "Where's Venom ( ... )

he's just so confused, man ;( anemptydecapo December 2 2011, 23:36:43 UTC
"Nngh..." Under a normal circumstance, the Guild Head may have been relieved to know an ally of his had survived a horrible night. Instead of relief settling in upon hearing Zanuff's voice, however, it was annoyance. "I'm awake," he managed to say, though it barely sounded convincing. He was awake. He didn't want to be, despite everyone else wanting him coherent. But he was.

He was also being sat on. Why was--? Kch. The irritation he'd felt only grew stronger, but the exhaustion that held a vice-grip onto his mind gave it nowhere to go. He would have shoved the other man away if he had the energy to do so. Even the simple act of rolling his shoulder would have sufficed if the muscles there hadn't just been torn straight through. Instead, he made the effort to tug his legs out from under the weight currently on them and, failing that, went to burying his face in his hands. "Stop touching me."

Why was everyone touching him lately? He really did not like that.

It looked like things were going back to normal in a big way at Landel's Institute. Ruby awoke with barely enough time to sneak in breakfast, a breakfast which was decidedly not the gruel that had been being served for the past few days, before the intercom crackled again, signifying a shift rotation.

Great. Gave her time to play catch-up. She looked around the sun room as she stepped inside, tugging at the smiley face shirt that, by now, felt almost out of place. She hadn't really gotten the chance to get used to it before the change-up, and she'd spent more time in military uniform than out of it. That's when it really sank in that she'd been there a week now and had made just about zero progress in her big break-out plan. Sam really needed to get his act together or Hell was gonna have a serious contender for worst vacation spot. Landel's might actually have a shot at beating it out ( ... )

As Castiel was finally allowed to leave both the cafeteria and Izaya's presence, he couldn't help but let his thoughts linger on the concept of a dullahan. It wasn't a creature that he had ever encountered himself, though he was well aware of their existence. They had been more plentiful a few centuries back, though he did not doubt the fact that there were still some present in the current day ( ... )

Ruby was left picking at her nails as she waited for Sam to make his way in when a shadow passed over her and the stench of angel made itself clear. Her stomach turned with instinctive fear that she pushed back. She didn't have reason to be afraid of him. He was about as flaccid as you could get.

So, she steadily shifted her gaze up towards him, expression passive but still visibly restrained. She was trying to keep it neutral, keep it under control, when really all she wanted to do was launch herself at him and snap his neck while she had the chance. Yeah. That'd go over well. She'd love the interrogation after that one.

Truth was, Ruby knew exactly what was gonna have to happen here. If any of them wanted to get out, Castiel would need to be on her side. That's what it'd take to convince Dean, that's what it'd take to get enough power to bust 'em outta here. If Sam was as cocked up power-wise as she was (with the exception of last night), then they needed more than just him ( ... )

Even in the light of morning, Castiel felt some regret for the fact that he had been unable to track down Ruby last night and banish her to Hell once and for all. If her presence here was extinguished, it would make his own goals that much easier to fulfill. Still, the opportunity had been lost, and he was going to have to go about this in a completely different way; one that hardly came naturally to him.

In response to her comment, Castiel only deepened the glare that he was sending at her, though eventually his body language loosened (as much as it ever could, that is). He still made no attempt to sit down, however, as that would be far too close to amiable behavior. Their last conversation had been spent mostly on their feet, and he wasn't going to change that now ( ... )

Harvey generally trusted his instincts. It was part of the job when you were trying to get someone to admit to a crime in front of an audience when it was basically all on the spot. Sure, preparation was key, but in the end no attorney could account for all the possible angles that the defense would take ( ... )

Scott was fuming as he entered the Sun Room. Fuming. And it wasn't just because of the night he'd had. It wasn't just because Landel was back all of a sudden. And wasn't just because he couldn't find Ramona anywhere yet, though that was a pretty big frustration right now too. Oh no. He had been slighted - slighted - and in the most unforgivable way. With the return of Landel had been the return of waffles. Beautiful, warm, fluffy, golden, delicious, mouth-watering, heavenly-! But oh, what's that? You want some of these magnificent waffles, Scott? Ha ha, silly Pilgrim! Trix are for kids~! And waffles are for people who wake up on time~! And oh? What was that? There are still five minutes left in breakfast shift? Sorry hon', too late for more to be made! Kitchen's closed 'til lunch! See you later~!

Scott would have shaken his fist and called out "LANDEEEEEL!!!" to the heavens, but refrained. He figured it might offend Captain Kirk ( ... )

Of all the people that he could be bothered by, Scott actually wasn't the worst option. Not even close, in fact. Harvey still thought he was more of an obnoxious kid than anything -- and that he didn't act his age -- but they had also been through a harrowing set of circumstances that meant he couldn't work up the same amount of annoyance as he might for some random kid circling around to talk ( ... )

Scott was kind of relieved that the first thing Harvey brought up wasn't that night. Even if it was over and Indy was back, Scott suspected that the both of them cared way too much about what had happened to just... get over it like that. Maybe Harvey had more experience with that kind of violence than Scott did, but it wasn't every day they were forced to watch a close friend's ribcage collapse under the foot of another friend. That image, that sound... everything from that night was sticking with Scott for the rest of his life, more likely than not, and he'd be damned if that hadn't at least stirred Harvey a bit ( ... )

He knew it'd been too good to be true.

Sync knew he shouldn't have expected anything more than a taste of everything they once possessed, even if had to be through the confines of this prison. Along with that, Gabriel had either stood them up or the night had been doomed for failure just like the rest. He wasn't able to use the night to his full advantage, and just like that the opportunity passed as swiftly as the institute's own changing of the 'guards ( ... )

The noise that escaped the other teen was nothing short of hilarious, but he wasn't about his lose his potential investment by blowing his cover so soon. However, Sync almost raised an eyebrow when the latter's expression shifted to bafflement, like he'd done a lot more than just 'accidentally' startled him awake.

But then the God-General found himself pushing down a scowl when the latter asked something unexpected. Had this kid met Ion or something? The other had been gone for so long that he'd nearly forgotten he'd been here in the first place. Of course, being reminded of the damned Fon Master immediately ruined his good mood, but that wasn't about to stop him. If this kid couldn't even remember if they met then the possible meeting might've been brief and unimportant.

"I'm not sure," Sync began, feigning interest as he continued. "Do you know where we could've met?"

Situation normal, all fucked up. There had never been an apter use of that pseudo-military bit of jargon. FUBAR had more hard-edged consonants, but that was reserved for when the shit hit the fan in any situation. He'd gotten used to dirty looks for using either, due to the associations with chemical weapons, guerrilla warfare, and other non-environmentally friendly activities. Not that anyone had ever been able to prove the Army had done anything other than turn existing acronyms into a catechism for terrified guys. Swear all you want, just strap on your guns ( ... )
