To the individuals who participated in this morning's insubordination: know that you're in part responsible for what happens tonight.
"I wasn't even here then," Alaric sighed under his breath, feeling under his pillow for the flashlight he'd found during dinner. He was starting to catch on to the game, if that's all this really was - this kind of

He hooked the machete in its case to one belt loop (it sagged, but like his arm, his pants would just have to manage) and picked up the flashlight. That ought to do it, and he wanted to move quickly.
Alaric was already gone. "Nice of him to say goodbye," Indy commented under his breath. Maybe he already had plans. Or maybe he'd get killed. Either way....Indy headed for the door and immediately got his night off on the right foot by stubbing his toe against the door frame.
Cursing to himself, he limped out into the dark hallway.

Anyway, it normally wouldn't have even matter all that much-he could handle whatever threats they chose to make good on, thank you-but with Elena involved...Look, he'd have enough on his hands keeping her ass alive. He couldn't say he looked forward to a bonus round of interference.
And what about Stefan? If something kept his brother from feeding properly, he wasn't going to be happy. Not that he was-no, fine. He was worried. Sue him. He had a good cause to be when every day Stefan went without eating was a risk to them all. Including Elena. He already didn't like the idea of the one or two people here knowing what they were. An entire institute getting a free show of Stefan snacking on some unfortunate human soul? Forget it. ( ... )

"Yeah, because you see vampires carry a night light all the time when we go hunting." He threw Rick an exasperated look that was probably wasted given the teacher's night vision deficiency. "Wait here."
He disappeared back into his room without another word. If anything was going to happen to Elena, it probably would've happened already-she'd said she hadn't even made it back to her room last evening (not the best thought, by the way)-but you know, he just didn't really do delays well.
Flashlight. Great. Where was it? He hadn't needed to look before. He pulled open a drawer, felt inside the desk, finally flipped over his pillow. There we go. He snatched it up and switched it on to make sure it worked. Almost two centuries of living, he'd learned to recognize when it was gonna be one of those days ( ... )

Sudden worry drove away the last vestiges of sleep, and Yue automatically focused on the sense of Sakura's presence only to find... she wasn't in her room. She wasn't gone, he was fairly certain, but at the same time he couldn't tell where she was, and something was different. Anything different in this place inevitably meant wrong, and so without pausing to consider anything further the guardian was out the door, inwardly cursing the limitations placed upon him. He should have been able to find her, to protect her, and yet hadn't been there for how long now?

"Project 2911?" Facilier pondered to himself as the bizarre female-like voice echoed in his head. At first Facilier wondered if it was one of the chanting Loa from the Other Side, but the words spoken were nothing he had ever heard in a ritual. The inhuman warping of the voice unnerved the witch doctor, leaving him with more questions about the place he had ended up in. What sort of living person could speak like that ( ... )

"My dear Shadow!" Facilier exclaimed as he approached his looming shade, arms spread wide and wanting nothing more than to hug his familiar power. Finally! Something that actually made sense in this place! Facilier hadn't lost everything that was his! The Shadow on the other hand, seemed confused by the new surroundings, gazing about with a quizzical frown on its flat features. "I know! I'm just as confused as you are!" Facilier said through a strained chuckle, "But I'm sure we'll find things out sooner or ( ... )
