Sherry shifted back and forth on her feet in the DRT room. Technicians and other people ran here and there around her, but it was easy to not mark the little girl in the crowd of shifting people. She was glad that her guardians had made it (mostly) out safely, and that now everyone would be going home, like they'd wanted. Even that cute little kitten. Sherry, however, was uneasy.

If everyone were going home, did that mean that she was going to get lost again? Sherry crossed her arms and sighed deeply. She didn't want to be lost again. That wasn't fair.

"There you are!" Claire had been looking for the little girl after having a little chat with one of the techs, and after a little bit of mounting worry she was relieved to catch sight of her. She crouched down in front of Sherry when she reached her, looking up into the little girl's face.

"Are you okay, sweetie?"

Sherry looked down at her feet for a moment, and then up at Claire. "I was thinking. When everyone goes home, does that mean we're all going back to where we belong? And if we are... Am I going to get lost again?"

The prospect grew more horrible and frightening the more she thought about it. "Because, if that's the case... I don't want to go."

"I was actually talking with one of the techs about that," despite the look on Sherry's face, Claire smiled, reaching up to gently brush the little girl's bangs away from her face.

"The universe that they're from, the one this place was copied from, it's our world. If we just go back to that Manhattan, you'll be in the future by ten years, but..." she hesitated, biting her lip and considering Sherry for a moment. "I can take care of you. If you want to stay with me."

Fletcher was tired ( ... )

Tara hadn't said much in the past day. She'd kept to herself and spent most of her time worrying about Beast Boy. In fact, that comment to CFP-TCI was the first thing she'd said to someone else in a few hours. And... she just had to hope that CFP was wrong. That there was some way to do it. Some way to make it work.

Somehow, as she walked up behind his chair and put a hand on his shoulder, she thought she knew what Fletcher was going through. She forced a smile.

Fletcher blinked when he felt that hand on his shoulder, and looked up. He smiled back at Tara, though it was a weak one. "Hi," he said, voice more shaky than he'd have liked. "Um... this is it, huh?"

"I guess so," she replied, but she was quiet, and then her facade fell. Not even sure if she should have been touching him, she let her hand drop, too. "You didn't like their answer either, did you." It wasn't really a question.

Roxas was pacing. It was a lot to take in. To be honest, he was kind of surprised they'd been given a choice. Some part of him, against all odds, had expected them to lose ... and, hearing that the DRT could send them back, he'd expected it to be your home dimension or nothing.

It was almost a difficult choice. Almost. But his mind was made up. The only thing that was making him pace was worrying about how a couple of people would react.

Sora's heart felt like he was going to burst from it twisting in a thousand different directions at once. They had won and now they were getting to go home!

But at the same time...that meant they had to say goodbye to friends. Sora had done these sort of goodbyes before, and like those, he was determined for this to not be their final one. He'd made so many friends here, so many people that had all touched his heart...he couldn't give them up. He couldn't give up any friend.

In his search around the DRT room, he was almost instantly drawn to his Nobody's presence. "Roxas!" he called out, and ran up to him with an expression of both happiness and hurt. "Roxas, We get to go home!"

Roxas wasn't startled - he could sense his Somebody's approach, after all - but there wasn't any of Sora's happiness on his face when he looked round. A hint of hope, perhaps, but mostly he just looked apprehensive, and regretful.

"Sora," he said, a little awkwardly. There was a pause. He looked at his shoes. And then at Sora again. "I ..." He trailed off again, but, wincing slightly, finally managed, "You get to go home."

This strange mix of feelings wasn't reflected back at him in Roxas's face the way he was expecting. Sora stopped, suddenly unsure of how to react.

At Roxas's next statement, Sora felt something like a lump form in his throat. He felt like he didn't understand. "But...you're coming back, to..."

ONE LAST SCARF/CAKE THREAD gorgeousgiselle October 3 2009, 05:50:32 UTC
Giselle watched as people milled around the large room. Many were crying and Giselle could not blame them. Goodbyes were just so sad. Giselle had made so many wonderful friends here, she could not believe that they were just leaving.

Still, there was one last thing she could do for everyone. A token of her gratitude for their companionship. Set up before Giselle was a large table and on it was a cake. It was a large cake with thick white frosting. Across the top, in cursive writing, were the words:

And now you're beside me
And look how far we've come
So far we are so close

A wishing star was decorated across the top, colliding into a heart. Giselle's own work and her way of saying that if we wish hard enough, we will all reunite again.

She had another gift prepared too. However, these were for specific individuals. She just hoped they would stop by to see her. She had to try hard not to start crying on the cake.

After days of rations that tasted like cardboard and whatever they could scavenge from the kitchen, Giselle's cake smelled like something that came from the kitchen of Heaven itself.

Stomach growling, Harry poked his head into the room, eying that food like a starving dog eyed a bone. After all, what was a better way to forget the pain of loss than with cake?

Besides...he might never get to taste it again.

"Mind if I steal a slice?"

Giselle looked up and wiped a tear from her eye. "Oh Harry, of course." She smiled at him. He had done so much for Wolf and herself. It was a shame they had to go their separate ways.

"I hope you like it. I made it for everyone. Especially since I didn't get to finish the cake I made before we were taken on board."

She cut a slice for Harry and put it on a plate. As she handed it to him she smiled again, "I have another gift for you as well. I hope you'll take it with you." Giselle leaned down and pulled something out of her bag. It was another scarf, woven with soft wool and at the edge of it was a heart. Inside the heart the name 'Riza' was curled in white.

"Giselle, the day I don't like one of your cakes is the day I give up on flavor," Harry remarked, taking the slice.

Harry looked up at the mention of another gift, and was halfway through opening his mouth to say she didn't have to do that when he saw the scarf. It was incredibly corny, but if Giselle had taught him one thing in the time they had spent together, it was that corny was by no means a bad thing. His lips quirking in a small smile, Harry accepted the scarf, and promptly tossed it on roguishly.

"So, how do I look?"

Diego looked unusually serene, leaning against one of the railings on the outside of the ship. He had a thermos full of coffee at his side and he was well into his eighth cup. The first eight cups he'd had in days.

It was amazing what storming a CIA ship screaming about your medical condition and how you were a lawyer with enough evidence to put the entire crew up the river for a good, long time could do for you.

Maya was out on the railings too, watching the ocean lapping against the side of the great boat. Pearly must be around here somewhere... and Nick too, as a matter of fact. And Mr. Dresden and Iris and the Tringham brothers and tons of people she had to talk to before they could go home.

She looked over her shoulder at Diego, still serenely drinking his coffee. "I can't believe we're really going home," she said happily. Home... back home, to Los Angeles. Home, without monsters and with all the food she could possibly eat. Home, with Mia.

"Sis is gonna be surprised to see us."

Diego smiled a little smugly around the rim of his cup. Behind his visor, he glanced at the ring on his finger.

"I don't think she'll be too surprised, hermanita."

Well, that wasn't a surprise. Alternate dimensions or no, Diego Armando was Diego Armando. And Maya was there too.

Phoenix knew he had to talk to them, to... damn it, he didn't want to say that to them. How could he? He was going to go home and they were going to be right there.

He started off slow. "Uh... hey."
