Agent Spin had a habit of showing up late for these sorts of things, he'd noticed. This time, he made a point of trying to actually be there before he could feel lost in the crowd of more active citizens.

The Agent liked to think he'd been helping in whatever way he could, in small ways and a few more important ways. But the biggest things so often went on with others. And he didn't feel right not giving his all. Spin was tired of these people, whoever they were, jerking them around. People were getting ready to step up to the plate and resist as much as possible, and there was no way Spin wouldn't lend his swing.

He walked in, suit and glasses worn as officially as ever. Apparently, his efforts had paid off, and he was for once one of the first to arrive. Worked fine for him.

Daniel made a point to arrive early. He knew this meeting was important; after all of the things that had been happening, whatever they discussed here would likely affect everyone in the city. The most troubling issue, at least in his mind, being how to attack the crabs now that they knew the real threat they presented. So the archeologist was hoping to bring up the issue of long-range attacks. Harry had mentioned planning to organize more direct offenses and actual combat training, but Daniel wanted to use his knowledge garnered from years with SG-1 to support anything long-range they could come up with: detonations, traps, and the like. If he could just get Team Science and the few other people who had expressed an interest talking to each other...he was sure they could cook up something special. And that would mean more effective mass attacks with fewer people in harm's way ( ... )

The question How are you doing? sounded like an invitation to a lot of interesting stories. Some in which may not have been all too appropriate, considering the circumstances.

Just about as good as you can be after being captured, your memory entirely wiped, thrown on an island after having all your energy drained, the life of your daughter threatened, the other kid you were looking after getting kidnapped and tortured, and caught in a severe blast in the wake of his rescue and having hauled yourself through a delirious mile with third degree burns before help finally reached you.“Doing pretty great, actually.” Aya smiled, leaning back in her chair. She was relaxed, more so than she had been lately. In spite of the previous events, she had plenty of time to rest and heal up, get back her strength, as well as the motivation she needed in order to drive herself to get back to work again ( ... )

A somewhat surprising answer, considering all she had been through; but oddly, she did look like she meant it, so he decided not to probe too hard in that area.

Daniel sighed and gave her a half-smile at the question. Leaning back against the wall, he folded his arms and looked up at the ceiling. "Probably as well as can be expected around here. Especially after the Andrew Basil incident..." He waved a hand slightly, as if waving away the subject, and shook his head. "All that aside, I'm holding together pretty well; this isn't actually ALL that different from some situations I've been in before. Been meeting more people, making connections around the city, which is always good when you're in a new place." He paused a moment before glancing back down at her. "I hope we can work out a few things at the meeting today. Especially about the proposed crab hunts." The man pulled a face that very clearly conveyed his discomfort surrounding the subject. "But then, I think I already mentioned that to you on the network."

While this wasn't the first big meeting they'd had to discuss things and work out plans, it still was pretty necessary...especially after everything that had gone on. Between him and the others getting kidnapped, the raid on Central Park, what Spin had told him they'd seen from the shore, getting stuck and then rescued from Roosevelt Island, the discovery of what the bites really did, and now some of his closest friends missing...Sora didn't even know where to begin with it all. Working with Aerith and all of the other Healers to establish territories was working well so far, but that was still something they had to keep off the network as much as possible. There was no telling what their captors would try next ( ... )

Kang had been up early enough to notice the helicopter flying south, and had been spending most of the time between then and the meeting thinking about what it could possibly mean. Captors, someone wishing to help, or was the entire area hidden from view?

He'd always preferred to arrive at meetings a few minutes early. So far there were only a few people he recognized; Spin, Daniel, and Aya were already talking, so he moved over to where the young boy was. The bozak hadn't gotten to talk to him since Roosevelt Island.

"...Sora, right? You did a good job on the boat, from what little I can remember."

Sora looked up from his breakfast as Kang approached him. Even amongst the strange people of this city, Kang was always very easy to pick out, what with the wings and tail and horns. He grinned and waved to him.

"Uhh, thanks!" Sora replied, scratching at the back of his neck with his free hand. "But you were the guys that did all the work! We'd probably still be stuck there if it wasn't for all of you." It looked like he'd worked way hard, as Kang had practically passed out in the boat on the way back.

"Nonsense. I do remember you being the one to throw those... whatever they were, in the water to get Harry and I out. You did your part," Kang smiled. "Thank you for that. Jumping into the water wasn't one of my smarter ideas."

For the most part, he remained still and silent by the snack table, only moving and acting when ordered to, or glancing to the door from time to time for any arrivals. Whatever Aya was planning, he hadn't yet been informed of, and... quite frankly, it upset him. He didn't want her or anyone else hurt again, when he could do something about it this time.

I want purpose.

I do.

He shifted a little in his chair, throroughly uncomfortable and head bowed in dismay. He prayed this wouldn't end badly...

Glancing to the door really only worked, when someone was coming from that direction. Which wasn't to say that Reno hadn't come in from that direction, but he'd come through quite same time ago; spending the time in between to look over the crowd.

And then he'd sauntered on over towards that familiar blond head moping away at the edge of table.

"Lookin' a little gloomy there, Strife."

Why did this man insist on prodding at him whenever he felt his worst? Was there truly a giant TALK TO ME PLEASE sign flashing over his head? He'd only come to this meeting because... well. Aya said it was important. And he had to. Though he did at least wish for Eve's company, wherever she ran off to.

He leaned forward on his knees silently, fiddling with the bag of chips and soda in his hands nervously. Maybe if he stayed quiet, he'd leave. Get bored. That was wishful thinking.

Not in the least. He did, however, exude a fairly strong field of 'please bother me' but so did almost everyone else, in Reno's opinion. Or at least to some extent. Cloud just had the luck to be his current target. Besides, moping never fixed anything.

"Not feelin' up to talkin'?"

Silence wasn't going to be enough to get him to leave.

Croix had never been really involved in the workings of the community here, minus some excursions in the subways. However, at this point, it was about time he put his talents to work, after all that was his goal now, now that demon hunting wasn't about money. Because of that, he didn't even think twice about attending the meeting Miss Brea told him about.

He stood in the back, a bit further apart from the rest of the crowd, silently. He had arrived early, hoping he could possibly gather some better info on recent happenings. With the network the way it was, he had a feeling he didn't know the entire story.

Rosiel didn't like crowds. He was much more at home with the electric hum of a computer, the comforting, revolting sensation of being surrounded by information running through lifeless wires. Large groups of people bothered him, especially here. He was used to being surrounded in a different way, the center of attention, the object of praise. He was able to tolerate that, at least, it was so familiar and constant. Here in this city, in a crowd he was invisible. It was unnerving.

But Aya Brea didn't trust the network, and he was curious about Aya Brea... so here he was.

So he hung at the edge of the group, wary, trying not to bite his lip in annoyance as he caught random strains of disconnected conversation. Bothered by being surrounded, yet not noticed, he surprised himself by opening up a conversation with the person closest at hand.

"Do you know what she plans to talk about?" he asked.

"Probably about the crabs and how to deal with them," Croix answered, slightly glancing at her. Why was she even here if she didn't even know the basics of the meeting?

Wait... 'she'? No something was off.

Good thing wearing sunglasses can cut down some facial expressions, because he was pretty much just staring right now. On second thought, that was a guy, definitively a guy... maybe. Never thought a man could look so... 'beautiful", no matter how odd that sounded coming from another man. But it was really the only way to describe him.

"Erm, anyway, she looked interested about doing patrol to take care of the crabs, that's probably why we're here," he finally answered back. "You didn't know?"

"You say 'probably,' so you don't know either," Rosiel said, looking at him sidelong. "She never quite said, did she?"

Maybe he had sensed Croix's eyes popping beneath his sunglasses, because he finally offered a smile. "So I came to find out what is so secret it can't be discussed on the network."

"Breaking things, MacGyver?" Russel commented as he came in. He still wore that Red Sox sweatshirt, thought it was open, over a crisp, pale blue shirt and black pants. His hands were in his pants pockets, and his stride was a bit loping. "If you've got a problem with Fletcher not being here, you can keep it to yourself," Russel then told him, referencing Mac's earlier request that all of Team Science be present for this.

"And hi to you too, Mr. Sunshine," Mac shot back, his arms crossed. He didn't have a clue what Russel's problem was - granted, he might have wanted to check the network for any news about that - but really. Kid was getting on his nerves, and that was saying a lot.

Sighing, he nodded at the projector. "It's fixed, actually. Cap said it couldn't be done, but I guess I proved her wrong. Not a moment too soon, too. Meeting should start any time now."

And he needed a drink. Unscrewing a cap from a nearby water bottle, he took a refreshing swig, letting out a "phoo!" as he came up for air. Replacing the cap, he put the bottle back down and looked back up at Russel, exhaling as he did. "Anyways, I guess you can tell him what went on here, if he's not one of the folks who've been disappearing. Speakin' of, I gotta say...I'm just taking it on faith that folks who disappear go back home...is there any way we can test that theory that pops to mind?"

If he were to be perfectly honest with anyone, it'd be that this whole situation had him spooked. So he reacted accordingly. "I've heard a couple people say that they did just that." He shrugged. "What other evidence do we need?"
