Kairi, too, had settled for strange. She had left a note for her friends that she was going to go make the pancakes for the folk at the Cathedral, and that if she had leftovers, she'd bring them back, cold or not. Kairi doubted anyone in the city could scare her as much as the monster, anyway, or Relena, who was thankfully missing.

Lucky for her, the crabs were away from this part of the city. If the boys found out she went out alone, and then got hurt? Man, she'd probably never live it down. James probably wouldn't either, and that wouldn't be fair ( ... )

It was a relief to see the kid had made it safely, though James made a note to see to it that he and his gun walked her home later. Holding the door for her, he nodded, smiling awkwardly. Everything about him was awkward. It was obvious he still wasn't used to dealing with other people.

"Sounds great," He's got a surprisingly soft voice for a man his size, "You didn't run into any trouble on the way here, did you?" He didn't assume she did, but it seemed like a polite thing to ask.

He sort of wished Harry or Odd were here, they were friendlier and a lot less intimidating that he was. Harry was nothing short of mothering, and Odd was just downright likable.

"Nope! I guess the crabs don't like the idea of pancakes," she said jokingly, seeming no way intimidated by James. She had dealt with Cid and Leon back in Traverse Town; they were enough to learn how to deal with the sorts, and Kairi quickly was effected by them very little. James was no different (and at least tried to be social unlike Leon).

She stepped in, although paused because she had... no idea where a kitchen was, and she looked back at him slightly sheepishly.

It took a moment of awkward silence for James to realize that she really didn't know where anything was.

"Oh- OH! Sorry- here, follow me."

Turning, he leads them to a door at the side corner of the large Cathedral, that branches off into a small hallway, eventually leading to what looked like a community center or perhaps a convent would be closer to it. A large house at best (if not a little archaic). At last he pushed open a small door to reveal a rather spotless kitchen.

Harry kept it as such, and on normal occasions, James wasn't allowed to do much in the kitchen.

Not after the noodle incident.

"Well here it is."
