I'm doing a show right now, but I wanted to share pictures....

So this is a current favorite, Monstera Deliciousa. Yes, that's it's name, and that is the name of the plant as well. It translates to "delcious monster", of course. It's called that, because when it does give off fruit, the fruit tastes like a delicious fruit cocktail. But don't eat it before it's ripe, or the oxalic acid with burn your lips ( Read more... )

That is utterly exquisite. Plants are definitely another influence to add to your incredible skills.

Meanwhile my wife is leaning over my shoulder, drooling at the photos, asking if you sell your work online because, and I quote: "I'd buy it for the leaf alone, with or without the stone, because it's gorgeous!"

Hee! Thank you! I have it in a show, but if you want it, I will pull it right now. I'm asking $95, but you are a LJ friend, so I'd sell it to you for $90. Let me know as soon as possible if you want me to pull it. Otherwise, just tell her I really appreciate the compliment. :D

Alas we cannot afford it right now, but thank you for the kind and generous offer (and stareyednight says the compliment "is well deserved, so no thanks is needed").

However... if you'd be so kind as to PM me an e-mail address? Said wife's 30th birthday is in October and I might just want to speak to an expert about present possibilities...

Oh, lordy, that's beautiful work. Truly fantastic.

I have one of those monstros in my back yard. It is huge and full of fruit, and you are welcome to some, if only I could get them to you. Sigh.

In my experience, once you get those monsters established in this environment, they are also damn near impossible to kill. I have a small patch in my yard which was planted utilising the 'shove the ends of it under the leaf litter, water it in, and then ignore it forever after' approach. I got the original bits from my Dad, who waters his, and therefore always has some to get rid of with an axe.

Don't know how it deals with frost, though.

Wow. Well, we aren't going to plant it, no matter how much Paul wants to. We don't own this property, and I don't want to get shot by the land owners.
