So this is a current favorite, Monstera Deliciousa. Yes, that's it's name, and that is the name of the plant as well. It translates to "delcious monster", of course. It's called that, because when it does give off fruit, the fruit tastes like a delicious fruit cocktail. But don't eat it before it's ripe, or the oxalic acid with burn your lips fiercely. (Kinda like rhubarb leaves.)
Here's the rough cutout of the leaf in copper. That is the actual plant leaf in the background. Their shape is amazing, isn't it?
The completed piece. The background stone is green agate. It was an unusual stone, and I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to do with it. Suddenly, I could see a giant temple stone in the jungle, covered with vines. This was the result. :)
The back, I imitated the actual trunk pattern of the plant. If I'd made it actual size...it would be huge.
The detail of the clinging vine, into the indentation of the stone...I love that. Actually, I love the whole piece. I think this might a new trend for me.
Closer detail on the sides. So, what do you think? More plant stuff? Think Paul might be having more of an effect on my than I realize? ;)
