Chinese new year is this Sunday, and in accordance with that holiday, I was cleaning the whole house. Until my back said otherwise. I managed to clean the bathroom, dressing area, reading area and bedroom before my back started yelling at me. (Yeah, those four areas? Three are in the same room. But the space is used well. And that is a lot of dusting.) Back problems never do go away, do they? However, all my consistent exercise has helped tremendously. I'm not incapacitated, I just have to stop and ice it down. I'm taking a self-defense class, and although I'm enjoying it, my back is not. I don't know if I'm going to keep with it, I'll just have to see. It's far more important to me that I'm functional than bad-ass. :)
Let's see...I've been doing a lot of sewing lately, as well as the jewelry-making. I'm trying to have two full displays of earrings, so that means I need to have 200 pairs of earrings made. I've got 130 so far, so not bad. My deadline for this is March, so I've got time. The sewing is for a break from jewelry-making, as well as for those little projects that just haven't gotten done before. I'm trying to eliminate the sewing backlog. Note: I said trying. Let's see how it goes. But, I at least have finished the other earring cone cover. (I need to post pictures. My earring displays are giant wire cones. Yeah. They are cool.) And somehow, one of Paul's friends has talked me into major coat alterations. (translation-he paid me up front, good money.) I'm putting zippers into the arms of a jacket that just has snaps at the wrists, and an open gap behind it. It probably didn't hurt that he used a lot of flattery too. Yeah, I can be vulnerable to that. I've already figured out how to tackle it, although I haven't started yet. I should wait until after the upcoming show, but we'll see.
I love my granny's sewing machine, and the sewing table that goes with it. This thing is so easy to use! Yes, I'm saying that about an antique. But damn, it really is. And with my new table, I can sew, fold it up, and then got to something else, fold it back out and sew. Gotta love it.
I'm trying to push myself on jewelry design. Will you see it? I don't know. A lot of it is technical work, and trying to get better at executing a vision exactly. I'm going to take pictures tonight, and you can tell me what you think.
