1. The first character I fell in love with: Sam. I never really fell in love with anyone in The Hobbit, so it's Sam all the way.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Denethor, hands down. Much of my love developed out of sheer cussedness.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Legolas. Never stirred a heartbeat, I'm not at all sorry to say. He just never registered.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Denethor again. See also: cussedness.
5. The character I would shag anytime: Faramir. Eowyn would kill me, though, so actually, I wouldn't. Maedhros, then.
6. The character I'd want to be like: Eowyn. She is made of win.
7. The character I'd slap: Feanor. Partly so I could say I'd done it, partly because most of what happened in the Silmarillion was his fault and he wasn't the one who suffered for it.
8. A pairing that I love: Faramir/Eowyn all the way! They're my true 'OTP', in the 'Any other pairing with them will not make my favorite list because it would mean breaking them apart' ( ... )

I've never *disliked* Legolas or anything, it's just that he only ever registered on my radar as half of LegolasandGimli. As an individual, I always thought that he was kinda bland.

Sometimes I think that the curse on the children of Hurin was mostly Turin's tendency to kill first, think later.

Harry Potter, for old times' sake.

1. The first character I fell in love with: Hermione, back when I was nine and had never met a character I could identify with so fully.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Peter Pettigrew. And we all know whose fault that is, don't we?
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Either Harry or Draco. Perhaps both. I just...am completely uninterested in their angst.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Peter again, obviously.
5. The character I would shag anytime: Regulus. As long as 'anytime' means 'anytime while he's, y'know, alive instead of decomposing'.
6. The character I'd want to be like: Minerva McGonagall. I wish I had the patience to put up with those kids.
7. The character I'd slap: Most of them, starting with Harry.
8. A pairing that I love: Severus/Regulus. Because I'm WEIRD and proud of it, and also because I only feel obligations to canon when it's good enough to deserve them.
9. A pairing that I despise: Remus/Tonks. I'd be fine with it if it hadn't seemed to be so bad ( ... )

Card Captor Sakura, because it's the obvious question to ask.

1. The first character I fell in love with: Gods, that's a long time ago...Touya, I think.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Kaho. I didn't think much about her at the beginning.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Syaoran, for certain values of 'everyone'. He tends to bore me.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Kaho. Where 'everyone' is 'fanbrats'.
5. The character I would shag anytime: Touya.
6. The character I'd want to be like: Tomoyo, funnily enough. Despite the obsessive thing, she's made of infinite win.
7. The character I'd slap: Clow. Because I'd want to be able to say I had, and besides he should be used to that kind of thing.
8. A pairing that I love: Touya/Yukito. As far as I can recall, they were my first slash OTP. I have never fallen out of love with them.
9. A pairing that I despise: Touya/Tomoyo. It's just...just...no. Never. And the more I see it, the less I like it.
10. Favorite character: But...everyone is so shiny! I can't pick!
11. What are my five ( ... )

6: It should come as no surprise to anyone else who knows me, but yes, Tomoyo is infinite win. (In fact, I've managed to convert a few other people to this view.)

7: I'm not sure if it's just my fanon-inspired imagination or if CLAMP made him that way, but Clow really does seem to be the sort who'd be instantly annoying to anyone who met him. I mean, sometimes I feel like decking him, right before shaking his hand and saying "that thing you did there? Awesome."

Even though my number 17 answer would probably be "Clow Reed".

Vlad Taltos if you please, or just the Dragaera-universe in general if you feel there's not enough characters in 'just' the Vlad-novels. (I mean, ten characters to feel passionate about - either positively or negatively - seems a pretty tall order.)

1. The first character I fell in love with: Vlad, although in the 'this guy is fascinating; tell me more' sense. The squeeboat has never arrived.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Hmm. Khaavren. When I started, I thought, "Ho hum, another youthful moron hero," but then he wasn't a moron.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: There's an everyone else?
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: See above.
5. The character I would shag anytime: Pel. That many people can't be wrong!
6. The character I'd want to be like: Sethra is the soul of all things awesome.
7. The character I'd slap: Mica = least likely to kill me if I did so. I'm not tired of life yet awhile.
8. A pairing that I love: Aerich/Tazendra, in that "We know it didn't happen, but it would've been great" kind of way.
9. A pairing that I despise: I just. Don't. Like. Morrolan/Vlad.
10. Favorite character: Loiosh! Isn't he everyone's?
11. What are my five favorite things about the fandom. Very small badfic percentage; actual ( ... )

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: There's an everyone else?

Well, there's valabars and klavahole, which presumably are both places some portion of the 'everyone else' can be found. Maybe. Also, presumably, The Lyorn Records (rapturous joy that they are) were created and are being maintained by fans, although I'll grant you they're not expressing any preferences for specific characters, aside from the fact that Daymar's entry is still a stub.

5. The character I would shag anytime: Pel. That many people can't be wrong!

*G*

9. A pairing that I despise: I just. Don't. Like. Morrolan/Vlad.

Strangely enough, both of the non-Paarfi left-over Dragaera-requests at yuletide are for Morrolan/Vlad. (And by non-Paarfi, I mean that they're requests I actually consider halfway writable, even if Dragaera's definitely one of those fandoms where the original's too brilliant to hold a candle to.) I've written it before, please don't hate me?

13. Who are my five favorite characters. Tazendra, Aerich, Loiosh, Molric, Sethra.Since you won't let me ask about ( ... )

why Molric?

I'm...still not sure about that, actually. I have a tendency to find the passed-over characters interesting, to a degree because we aren't told what they're thinking and feeling, which makes me curious. So, I found myself liking Molric, because it must have been unpleasantly interesting to have been trapped between Adron and Rollondar during Five Hundred Years After. And then I wrote fic about him--the only Dragaera-fic I've ever actually written. So...yes.

I'm just flat-out scared of writing fics in open-canon universes (except when canon stinks and I could make it better--see below). But that is more likely to keep me away from the main characters entirely than to make me write romance, because when I write romance it always seems to end up as genfic-with-possible-snogging. Also, of course, it's stylistically quite difficult (although I started writing a Paarfi-style fic once; I find the style heaps of fun).

My newest baby fandom!

1. The first character I fell in love with: Gosh, I...you know, it was quite a while ago (I've kind of fallen into fandom just now, but hey, I was a kid once too). I think Richie/Gear from the cartoon version of Static Shock. Because I ♥ geeks.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Guy Gardner. How can I love someone who's such a jerk? How?
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: This being DC, there is no 'everyone', but a sizeable number of people like Batman, and I...I just can't anymore. You know.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: See #3 for disclaimer. If it comes to that, probably Maxwell Lord, as he was back in the olden days of last Thursday. Y'know, when he was at least interestingly evil.
5. The character I would shag anytime: See icon. I feel much less guilty about this as he's currently alive. Hah. (Why I had to start loving him after he died, I'll never know.)
6. The character I'd want to be like: Wonder Woman when she's being well-written. ( ... )

2- I KNOW. The guy is such a jerk...but at the same time he is easy to love. Everyone accepts that he is a jerk and he is openly annoying, but he has saving moments (or people, like Ice) that really make the character.
3- I've always loved Batman, but the character has been around for so long that I can see when it's the writing that sucks. The Batman I love has issues but he is not a complete jerk. He is Batman, a man with a purpose so clear it has created a complex net of allies- and family- around him. NOT the goddam Batman. (But, I must say, my favorite character in the DC universe is Alfred, so Batman being borline stupid makes for FANTASTIC Alfred lines, because Alfred is the one person in the DC universe who can top Batman lifting one eyebrow)
15- Seriously there NEEDS to be more Ted/Booster. Particularly NOW.
18- I'M GOING TO UPLOAD COMICS FOR YOU. Because there's good ones.

2: The thing is, I wouldn't love Guy so much if canon didn't acknowledge that he's a jerk. I can actually enjoy the character since there's nothing trying to make me ignore his monumental flaws.

3: I was always fine with Batman, but the vast majority of the recent stuff makes him into a complete jerk. It's like all Goddamn Batman, all the time, and nobody calls him on it--or at least, most of the writers don't seem to get it. And that's what gets to me.

15: Working on it! Sort of...

18: Oooh, yesplease! (I admit, I bought Formerly Known as the Justice League, I Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League, and the first JLI trade pretty much just for the Booster-Ted goodness. And they make me happy, because the world needs more funny.)
