Coffee: The Insidious Evil

Jan 05, 2011 21:53

When I went to China the first time, I gave up Diet Mt. Dew. I have, on occasion, fallen off the wagon since then and gone through Dew-drinking phases-mostly at times when I needed more hours in the day and had to find them through massive amounts of caffeine. In most instances, coffee does it for me. It doesn't jack me up the way Diet Dew does, so ( Read more... )

Be a man, take your coffee the same as your evil twin. Black and bitter, baby!

No "be a man" about it. It's vile stuff. But I'll still drink it.

Of course you have to drink it with all that crap in it. Just remember, from my perspective you're the "Evil" twin.

I'm sure some of their latte's pack a wicked caloric punch. Ugh.

Yeah, a lot of the drinks on their menus are ridiculous. However, you can customize your drink order in most cases, and end up with something moderately healthy.

For instance, I usually order a Starbucks latte with skim milk and a sugar-free flavor shot. It's a still a caffeinated treat, but it also has about half my daily suggested calcium.

In all honesty, I hate the taste of coffee, so I have to add all kinds of crap to it to try and make it palatable.

That comment really made me laugh!

As a coffee addict (though I am so far out of your league it's not funny!) I have never used sugar/sweeteners so I am lucky in that way. Also, have been using low fat milk for about 15 years now and find that it actually makes better coffee (as in purchased cappucinnos) as it froths better.

Good luck!! :)

I just watched a news article on milk. Scientists are beginning to believe whole milk is actually better for you, even if you are trying to loose weight. Apparently, they are saying the natural enzymes found in whole milk are often taken out when they process it down to low fat. Those same enzymes help break down body fat and lead to a more natural weight loose/metabolism regulator.

It was a newer study however.

The one coffee drink I sometime order at the cafe, the carmel machiato is worth 470 calories. I almost died when I put it into my calorie counter! Needless to say, I've given them up. lol

I was about to have a heart attack when I read you drink ten mugs of coffee a day... but then I remembered this is *american* coffee. Whew. If you were drinking ten mugs full of the coffee I'm used to A DAY, you would be dead, and that's no joke.
