So - Ukraine won the Eurovision Song Contest, to nobody's surprise. But actually the song wasn't bad, and would probably have been in the top ten anyway. I read an article pointing out that it will piss President Putin off even more than you might expect as it was a song that was a collaboration between Ukrainian Traditional musicians and modern

Finland and Sweden joining NATO is extremely telling. I don't think Putin thought they really would.

And yes - I think Putin thought he could invade Ukraine and turn it into a puppet state and everyone else would be so frightened they would bow and scrape to him.

Aren't the shirts fun! It tells us a lot about the resilience of people who designed and made them.

Chris and Ruth of Hands of Hope were briefly back on the island recharging their inner batteries for a few days then went back to their home on the Romanian/Ukrainian border to continue with their work. If you would like a quick look, they have a Face book page where they post brief updates and photos - the entry for May 13th even includes info about one of the families they helped in the early days of the invasion.

And, really, it does tend to show he has not got a lot of political sense if it didn't occur to him that this was a very possible outcome of invading another neighbour.
