I am really pleased with them - it is a better crop than we have had with the beans the past two years. So far about 3/4 of the ones picked have been eaten raw within minutes - 1/4 actually did get lightly cooked and added to dinner on a couple of evenings.
What a wonderful crop of peas! The rigging has certainly worked well for you and them.
I totally adore your frog. I haven't seen much of mine this year yet, but they tend to come out a bit more later in the season and mine are tiny - incredibly cute but literally bite-sized. LOL
Good aren't they! The jute rigging has been a real success - although I reckon the real reason for the bountiful crop was the presence of the pirates!
The first few frog sitings were only about the size of my thumb in their entirety - this was the biggest yet. We hadn't had frogs before this year, the first one gave me a real surprise.
Reading this, I realized that I don't think I've ever seen a frog up close and personal. I've heard them (tree frogs) but I've only ever picked up and held toads. No warts, no princes, just toads.
The peas look very nice. I don't like cooked peas except snow peas (I know, I know....) but I don't think you have to like a food to be able to tell if it would look good to someone who does. Anyway, I do like them raw!
What are the poppy-colored flowers next to the peas? Very pretty.
I had never been up close and personal with a frog before this summer either.
We started with plants that were supposed to be eaten as mange tout/snow peas, but the slugs got them, and these plants are the bigger version, but NYK2 ate quite a few as tiny early pods anyway.
The poppy-coloured flowers are nasturtiums - they are actually edible but I mainly grow them for the colour.
