It's blowing a hooley out the at the moment, and the overnight boat hasn't sailed.
I wish I'd been able to get a photo of the point mid-morning where there were 8 sparrows all trying to get into the feeder like the one the robin is at that is swinging from a pole. But they seem to sense when you might be about to pick up the camera!
What sweet little birds! They know when they need extra food to get them through the rough weather. I haven't seen any robins around lately though they're here year-round but not in huge quantities.
We have been eating leftovers today as well. It's a luxury not to feel the need to cook. :)
It is one of the advantages of living by the sea, isn't it - that sea breeze that keeps the air moving so it's never quite as sticky hot, or as freezing cold, as it is miles inland.
Your robin looks much like a blue bird. A little too much orange, that's about it. Our robins are fairly large brown birds with orange breasts. Bless wrens, they're just the same everywhere.
It is something that makes those emigrants of past centuries seem more 'real'. The way they took the names of familiar birds and gave them to similar ones to help themselves feel more at home - so there are robins world-wide, not always related to each other - but always with the orange breasts :)
Yes, that's quite true. Applies to plants/flowers as well as birds. If it looked like something familiar, that's what they called it. Gets confusing when you're talking with someone from another country and it turns out you're talking about different things. :)

The wind has been getting up here all evening and it looks as if it's going to be ghastly tonight. Hope it doesn't do too much damage anywhere.

The wrens are not beautiful, but they have a sort of bobbing movement and are rather cute.
I really like dinner on Boxing Day :)

It's currently a bit windy here. We are getting a strong sea breeze that is cooling down the house until it peters out and the heat sets in.
