It occurred to me the other day that if LJ went down, I would lose years of entries. So I decided to make several Word docs. The first one is "Personal", so far the second one is "Idle House entries". Off the point a little but did you know you can back up your LJ to Dreamwidth? Just get an account and its a few button presses to import the whole thing, comments and all.

I do it once in a blue moon in case LJ every completely collapses.

Ha, I was just about to comment and say the same thing. :D

You can lock the Dreamwidth account, too, so that it's totally private. It would be like having a secure archive hidden away.

Do I do that after the import? (Which I've started now) It didn't give me that option.

Aw, I thought you could mass-lock the entries with a free account, but I just read the Dreamwidth FAQs and it looks like you need a paid account. :-P

on the other hand, I've never heard of House fans deciding that they actually have his diagnostic abilities but I've seen Harry Potter fans who think they have real magic powers. I'm not kidding.

Wow... lol, that is so funny. And true, I don't get it either.
Anyway, I can't go on tumblr because I cannot physically deal with it. The amount of attention-span killing stuff on there is just closing my brain down and the fact that the concept seems to be made for the inability of really holding a 'comment conversation' really turns me off big time.

You should consider getting a Dreamwidth to back up your LJ though, since you can import all entries and stuff (actually I'll go over there and do that next thing. hmmm) which is really neat.
