Okay flist, ya'll watched the Jonathan Ross show last night, right? And ya'll saw that trailer they played for Jack's return in Doctor Who, right?

Good. Because something about it has been bugging the buggery out of me the entire day (and until I get my hands on a d/l or YouTube of it, I'm relying on you flist to help me out here), so here's the ( Read more... )

Is it just me or did the Doctor see Jack running towards him, crying out his name AND HIT THE FUCKEN ACCELATE BUTTON OR WHAT!? I mean seriously. That's what it looked like. WHY WOULD HE DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!? ::lip wibble:: DOESN'T HE LOVE JACK ANYMORE?

Yes, he totally did see Jack and get this ... hunted expression on his face. I don't think it's that he doesn't care for Jack; I really don't. But I definitely think there's something more going on there.

:( I'm searching for the trailer so I can watch it again, but even with the haunted expression- surely even just seeing Jack would have given him pause for thought? I mean, why try to get the hell out of Cardiff as fast as possible? There definitely is something more going on- I just hope we get an explaination with that too!

And another thing ;) ...didn't Jack disappear from inside Torchwood? I see the TW/DW teams have their continuity down to par, haha.

Externally speaking, I figure that a) they're really serious about making sure there is absolutely no connection between the worlds of DW and TW so as to make sure not to draw the kiddies into TW at all; b) they thought it looked cool. I'll be surprised if we get any sort of internal explanation for it, or why the Doctor was only there to fuel up for 20 seconds, where in "Boomtown" it was a couple of days.

The thing is, as much as he'd like to, the Doctor isn't really moving on is he? He's certainly trying, but there's always something happening that reminds him of rose and then he gets all angsty and OMG I just want to hold him sometimes XD

keiko_kichi had a great idea for the Doctor's reaction- maybe he knew that Jack was now working for Torchwood? And wanted out of there ASAP!? It would explain his rush at least!

He's being very emo-fied this evening! I am feeling very gushy over him right now ::squishes him tight::

It's certainly the idea I'm clinging onto like a barnicle XD

I don't think he actually hits the accelerate button, because he says something like "what, we're accelerating" in a really surprised voice. He does hit a button to make the TARDIS disentigrate, but the acceleration is an accident, or a side-effect of Jack throwing himself at the TARDIS whilst it's moving. I don't understand why Jack's even running for the TARDIS, when it materilises in the hub anyway. The trailer's just confusing. The Doctor realises the Rift's opened since he was last there, yet he doesn't stop to investigate? Also, I don't understand why he isn't happy to see Jack. Yeah, Jack's a reminder of Rose, and of him as Nine, but he doesn't even really seem to express surprise that Jack's still alive? I really don't get why he runs away from Jack. Even if he knows Jack's working for Torchwood (he doesn't seem to know that in Doomsday though, does he?), it's quite an extreme reaction, given his natural curiosity and all.

EXACTLY! To your whole reply. There is just so much that's not adding up. And I think we can pretty much garuntee that they're not working to keep DW and TW in sync with each other, which is greatly upsetting. You'd they'd make more of an effort to keep things working in sync after the continuity disasters they had in Torchwood :S

I kind of understand why they can't refer too much to Torchwood -- because of the younger audience and all. But surely it wouldn't be that to explain that Jack had been working for Torchwood; after all, Torchwood has been in Doctor Who too. And besides, from the ending of Torchwood, it definately looked like the Doctor had come to the Hub specifically; now it just looks like he'd come to Cardiff accidently.

I heard as well that the Doctor won't make an appearance in Torchwood. Guess they really do want to keep the two shows seperate! It's kind of disappointing in a way though, as it would have been nice to have a bit more of an overlap- or at least a connection that makes sense for both fandoms!

Yeah, he did. 10 is now in the doghouse with me. I mean, I know he's capable of Bad Things, but fucking hell man, YOU LEFT WITHOUT TEH HARKNESS.

AGAIN.

*slaps 10*

Maybe he's worried that now he isn't as big an intimidating as 9 was, Jack could kick his pinstriped-clad bottom. Which Jack probably could. Scrap that, definetly could.

RUN, 10, RUN!

That Doctor needs some serious talking to and some major spanking come to think of it. I don't know what he's playing at but he's just lost all further fangirling from me, at least until the Jack episodes where I can properly decide whether to forgive him or slap the sh*t out of him.

Grrr.

::snuggles w/teh Jack::

Hmm yep I saw this, me thinks it all harks back to the Doctor's comment to Jackie in "Army of Ghosts" about bringing back the dead....

"she says something along the lines of "don't you think it's beautiful"

He says "no I think it's horrific" he's got real issues with it...

There's a man running towards him who he thought was dead add to that the Rose & Torchwood connections and it's not hard to see why he why he tried to distance himself from it.

Gosh yes, I keep forgetting about that scene. There are so many theroes about now that it's hard to decide just which could be the most accurate :S

I think we'll just have to wait till we see the episode. But I do like the idea that it's because Jack should be dead but isn't // or even that he thinks it's 'old Jack' and doesn't want to mess with any timelines and stuff!
