[Here is Manjoume, walking down the path to the room where the gate is. As evidenced by the tone in which he mutters the following to himself, he's not in the greatest of moods, but then, he rarely is.]
'Walk in the light', he says. 'Traditional parting words' or not...
[(Yes, he was indeed attempting to socialize with the original resident of his room before word came out that the gate was open. For reference, incidentally, it's the same blue-skinned tailed guy whose ghost he had lunch with that one time.) As he walks, his attention is mostly focused on his deck of Duel Monsters cards as he sifts through them to make triply certain that he hasn't forgotten even one.
Finally satisfied that he hasn't left even one behind, and finding himself at the entrance to the room, he tucks his deck into its holder on his belt and enters the room, though he doesn't go through the gate right away.]
[She walks to the room, and looks at the gate. Home was through there... Just as she had left it.
Her memories, though. Her memories of her time here... Uncomfortable, sad, scared memories, but happy ones too, of new people she could name friends. She didn't want to lose that.
So she hesitated, thinking. Trying to remember everything before she would forget it.]
[When she walks in the door, Aerith does not look relieved. Far from it, as a matter of fact. The news that their bodies would be returned to the exact physical state they'd been in on their arrival has left her counting down the hours with the resignation of a woman facing her death. At first she'd been relieved, ready to face home without hesitation, but now Aerith was more scared than she'd been in a long time.
She takes a look at the gate and falters, the option to stay is not one she can take. Too much is at risk, but to walk through it means returning to a state of being worse than death.]
Captain, when you said we'll be changed back to how we were before, does that mean mental states? If someone was mentally ill before arriving here, would they be turned back? [She dreading the answer. She doesn't want to hear it, but there's no other way.]
I'm not just worried, I'm scared. I need to go back, but I don't want to go back to being the way I was. How will I be able to stop the destruction if I can't even feel myself anymore?
I thought I was ready. [She bows her head, wringing her hands.] I don't know if I'll ever be ready, but I have to go.
[offers a tiny, knowing smile] I can understand the feeling.
I'd never want to wish that kind of future on anyone, but especially not on you. It's possible to stay, but...you wouldn't take that way out, would you?
[Axel (Kingdom Hearts/OU) has gone home]firebrandedSeptember 27 2009, 04:38:11 UTC
[Axel waltzes in looking like he owns the world. he doesn't have anything with him; just the usual coat, his hands stuffed in the pockets. he doesn't pay attention to the two researchers working in the background. why should he? he's only here to do one thing.
he brazenly walks up to his new 'captain', tilting his head as he gives him a very unimpressed once-over] You clean up pretty good. I'd have been pretty disappointed if I'd off'd myself saving a slob.
[he smirks widely as recognition dawns on Orion's face. but Axel isn't done just yet] You meant what you said, right? The hero thing? Honored for the rest of our lives, revered by lowly peons, status, the easy life?
[Orion opens his mouth to say something, but Axel holds up a hand, stopping him] The heroes part was good enough.
I think I'll be taking you up on that offer. I want to see what it's like on the other side of the fence for once. Less hassle for me.
[he looks at the gate, almost...thoughtful for a second or two. and then his smirk, the old daredevil look

He's waiting in the distance, expression very blank- more so than usual anyway.]

when he does, he doesn't make a motion to rush him, or anything like that. he just asks:] Are you ready?

he coughs a little to get his attention]
Um...I wanted to apologize for all those times I bothered you about your cards.

It's fine. After all, Duel Monsters doesn't exist where you come from, right?
