Those are fantastic; you did a great job of copying the first one; I think the pink/red one with the vertical stripes is my favourite though, it's so elegant!
Haha, no, not at all, I think it looks beautiful! I understand your fear though; I've just made myself a dress out of a cotton-mix brocade which was intended for upholstery, so I was a bit worried it might make me took like an odd-shaped chair, but I think it actually works pretty well!
I was too ;) . But I grew up in Soviet Union, and it was pretty simple: you want hip clothes - you make them (or pay somebody to make them, or pay 2x the price if you know somebody who was willing to sell them), so I started to sew. 21 years ago I moved to US and forgot about this skill. Recently I found that I again enjoy it and I have time to do it. I started to make little things for home, open an etsy shop and started to make my own clothes. )))
I was very surprised my husband liked it. Usually for him it suppose to be either fitted or short to be liked. Here we have neither, but it so summery! )))

I was a little afraid that those vertical stripes would turn me into a mattress. I am very happy it did not happen :) .

Oh, I like upholstery fabrics a lot, they keep the original shape so perfectly.

I am a bit envious of your sewing ability, I was a miserable failure at sewing back in school :P

Flow-y dresses are cooler in the summer heat too. So that's another good thing about them.
