Those are fantastic; you did a great job of copying the first one; I think the pink/red one with the vertical stripes is my favourite though, it's so elegant!
Haha, no, not at all, I think it looks beautiful! I understand your fear though; I've just made myself a dress out of a cotton-mix brocade which was intended for upholstery, so I was a bit worried it might make me took like an odd-shaped chair, but I think it actually works pretty well!
It was the colour that sold it to me! And yes, the body of the fabric is perfect for that A-line skirt, it holds the shape nicely without being uncomfortable to wear. I haven't really used upholstery fabrics for clothing before, but I shall be checking out the household section of my local fabric shop again in future!
You know, you can make a friend in your local furniture store, at the end of the season they throw away these "tapestry sample" books. You can use them for small details for your sewing projects. There are some very beautiful samples.
