It was Thursday. Gray clouds hovered around the city, sending its inhabitants a threatening aura of rain. Junsu was on his way home from work. He was thankful that he had a day-off tomorrow. He passed by the grocery store to buy some stuff Jae asked him to. He said he’d make something special since it’s his birthday today. He wanted to invite Yunho over too, but it seemed like he had something to do. He was in a hurry to time-out of the café. Funny, he never missed any of Su’s birthdays since they became friends, even after he and Jae broke up. Oh well, he can just sulk in a corner next time he sees him at work and pretend he’s hurt. Yunho has always been sucker for that. He grinned at himself while picking out the veggies Jae listed.

He opened the door to their apartment and was surprised that the light wasn’t on.

“Did Jae go out?” He thought.

He felt around for the light switch. Darn architect or electrician or whatever for placing the switch away from the entrance. After fumbling around like a blind man, he felt the little button and shouted a “HA!” in triumph. His ears perked up when he heard a light thump. He shrugged it off, thinking that it was their neighbor living upstairs. Without further ado, he switched on the light.

Pop!

Pop!

“SURPRISE!!!”

“AH!!!” Junsu fell down on his butt (that would’ve hurt but we all know the cushion capacity of his derriere) and just stared at the people inside their apartment. Scratch that, he was starting at THEIR apartment.

It was filled with balloons and ceiling whatnots which looked like DNA strands. He paused. Now that was just nerdy. Anyways, back to the matter at hand. There was a banner hanging by the window which says “Happy Birthday our dear Junsu!” There was a sound system set in one corner of the living room. People (thank god there were only a few) were wearing party hats and had big smiles on their faces. The table was filled with party foods and was that Min munching on a hotdog?

Junsu stared in horror. If Changmin was here, then… He scanned the small crowd and there he saw him, in all his sexy glory, looking at him with that amused look on his face that he has become so accustomed to already. His heart almost stopped beating when their plumber smiled at him, mouthing a ‘you ok?’. Not trusting himself to speak, Junsu just nodded and closed his mouth to stop himself from drooling. Well, he felt that he was drooling. But every freaking time he meets the eyes of Yoochun, he feels he’s drooling. So he’s never sure anymore when exactly he IS drooling. Okay, enough of the drooling talk. He slowly stood up while Jaejoong helped him.

“You ok Su?” Jae asked, worried.

“Y-yeah.” Su said with a squeaky voice. He cleared his throat, “Yeah I’m okay thanks.”

“Sorry if we scared you Junsu.” Siwon, one of their close neighbors, said.

“Yeah. I always believed you were a scaredy-cat. Guess you proved me right.” Siwon’s boyfriend, Heechul, said with a taunting smirk. He always teased him, but no ill-feelings were present. All in good fun as one would say.

But that still couldn’t stop our dear Junsu from turning into a tomato.

“Yah! I’m not a scaredy-cat. Let’s see you not be surprised when you get a bunch of people shouting at you all at the same time as a welcome home.”

All laughed and Junsu laughed with them, sending the loved eukyangkyang resounding throughout the apartment.

Everything was going the way a birthday party was supposed to be. They played Pin the tail to the Pony like little kids, sending everyone into fits of laughter as the birthday boy pinned the tail on the poor pony’s nose instead of its butt. Changmin looked like he was in an eating contest with Shindong and Kangin (both were neighbors too and Yoochun was worried because his brother found people who can eat as much or maybe more than him. Whatever will happen to his refrigerator?). Everyone was enjoying the food, drinks and the upbeat music. Su couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate his birthday, no matter how much he wants to kill Jaejoong for giving him a surprise party. He believed it was impractical, but more than that, it brings back memories when…

Junsu shook his head.

“No, do NOT think of him now. You’re happy. You’re supposed to be happy. You’re not alone. A lot of people are here. Yoochun is here.” That last thought alone made Junsu calm down and smile.

But when he heard the upbeat music turn to a soft mellow one and the small crowd got into pairs and started swaying, his eyebrows furrowed in response. He turned to look at the DJ to see Jaejoong standing beside him. Jaejoong waved to him and tilted his head to a direction as if telling him he should look that way, so he did.

What he saw made him panic and whiplash his head back to Jae’s direction and began to fervently shake his head and mouthed a continuous string of “nonononono!”  But his traitor of a best friend just thrust a thumbs-up with both his hands in the air and began thrusting his arms outward interchangeably. He looked like he was exercising. But that wasn’t Junsu’s concern right now.

Yoochun was on his way to him, sidestepping through the small crowd that gathered in the living room slash dance floor with a small smile on his face, like he knew what Junsu was thinking.

Junsu seriously wished he didn’t because his brain was clouded with thoughts of how badly he wanted to jump Yoochun while he was doing the simple act of walking. Junsu let out a helpless whimper and turned his head to Jaejoong again only to see him talking to the newly arrived Yunho. His friend and co-barista in one faced him and gave a thumbs-up as well and mouthing a ’you can do it!’, completely crushing the shorter man’s hopes of extracting help from him.

“Hey.” Came a soft but deep and delicious voice.

The birthday boy gulped and turned to face their resident plumber, looking all hot and yummy and as nervous as he felt he is.

Wait… he’s nervous?

“So… uhm… wanna dance?” he stuttered.

Junsu thought he couldn’t be any cuter.

“Sure.” He croaked. Yoochun beamed and grabbed his hand then led him to the center of the dance floor.

They stood face to face (well, not exactly since Junsu found that the floor was interesting) for a few awkward moments until Yoochun mumbled.

“Okaaay... how do we do this?”

Junsu looked up and his breath hitched at the sight of Yoochun’s eyes boring into him. Did the guy seriously want to kill him?

“Uhh… I’m not sure… I have two left feet.” Of course that wasn’t true. He can dance quite well. But seeing that his knees were about to turn into jelly because of the hunk in front of him, he wasn’t sure anymore.

Yoochun laughed, sound rich and beautiful to Junsu’s ears. “Come on. I’m sure you’re not that bad.” Yoochun pulled his hands and placed them on their shoulder, then rested his on the other’s hips. He began to rock them from side to side in time with the slow melody. Junsu, from the time his partner started to rock them to the music, didn’t feel anyone around them anymore. Time stopped. He didn’t hear anything but the loud thumping of his heart in his chest. He didn’t feel anything but the hands on his waist and the hot breath mixing with his own. He didn’t see anything but the dark brown orbs looking straight into his own bearing nervousness, happiness, care and something unknown to him.

Oh how he hoped it was love.

He didn’t want this to end, their own little world. But as one would say, all good things must come to an end, theirs in the form of the door opening and revealing two men. One of them was taller with black hair and lean frame. He didn’t know him, but he was oddly familiar. The other one though, made him freeze on the spot and press his lips to a thin line. He had light brown tresses, perfect for his complexion. He had small eyes, eyes that Junsu used to never get tired staring into. He felt his own eyes sting. He and the unknown taller man were holding hands.

“Hyukjae…”

A.N.2: I will post a JaeMin side of this chapter in a few days. Still have to edit it XD Wait for it okay? XD *pokes u to comment*
